FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Was it a crackin film? Wallace & Gromit A Matter of Loaf & Death
Advantages: Funny, good animation, same great characters
Disadvantages: Short and predictable
...Wallace and Gromit - A Matter of Loaf and Death is a 30 minute Wallace and Gromit animation made by Nick Park. This episode was shown on Christmas Day on the BBC.
The plot is about Wallace and Gromit being bakers but sadly there is someone who is going about and murdering all the bakers. They have got 12 so far but will they get a baker's dozen? Piella Bakewell is Wallace's love interest this time and there is more to her than meets the eye.
The animation is as usual brilliant and a little different to most films and shows made today which have lots of special effects and computer tricks.
The plot in a Matter of Loaf and Death however is similar to other Wallace and Gromit films which is a bit of a shame considering the amount of time between this and the last Wallace and Gromit episode.
I wish though that the film had lasted...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Wallace and Gromit use their Loaf
Advantages: Great film
Disadvantages: None
...A Matter of Loaf and Death
This time Wallace and Gromit appear as Bakers in the world of bun puns and bread related jokes.
Wallace falls for one time Bakerlite girl, Piella Bakewell. Unfortunately Wallace is sometimes a slice short of a loaf ad it turns out Piella is hiding a deadly secret.
Gromit soon comes to feel something is not quite right and attempts to thwart Piella As she tries to bump Wallace off. Gromit will really have to use his loaf to get through this one.
She is after her full 'bakers dozen' and she will not let Gromit get in her way of slicing and dicing Wallace.
There are the usual W & G jokes that run through all of their adventure, generally cheese based. The animation is without doubt made with a lot of love and care. The soundtrack is standard W & G. This is a truly lovely...

New life of Wallace and Gromit
Advantages: imaginative and humourous
Disadvantages: none
...If you live in the UK you said you don't know Wallace and Gromit, I would think you are kidding.
The characters of Wallace and Gromit already became a culture ambassadors of this country. The Daily Mail said Wallace and Gromit is the most delightful animated feature ever.
A Matter Of Loaf And Death is the newest one of the series. It was on BBC1 during last Christmas. It caught eyes of all British people. People all were curious about what new would happen in their life.
The DVD is on market in 2008. It has two versions. One is DVD, £8.68 and the other one is Blu-ray, £9.68. Both are Eligible for FREE Super Saver Delivery on amazon.co.uk. By the way, it won British Academy Film Awards in 2009. The director Nick Park is really genius. I admire him enormously.
The name A matter of Loaf and Death would remind you of a classical...

Wallace and Gromit, The Curse of the Were Rabbit.
Advantages: Fantastic film
Disadvantages: None
...Curse of the Were Rabbit.
Everyone has their favourite Wallace and Gromit film. Mine was A Close Shave. Well, until Curse of the Were Rabbit came out, that is. And now it is a close shave er thing as to which it is!
In Curse of the Were Rabbit, Wallace and Gromit are running Antipesto, a specialist humane pest control company. There main threat seems to be rabbits, of which their seem to be an inordinate amount of in the town.
Wallace's weird inventions seem to work very well but his idea of a humane solution to the problem is to keep them all in the cellar!
But then, just before the annual vegetable growing competition, something awful happens. One of Wallace's experiments in thought control goes horribly wrong and a Were Rabbit is created!
Wallace and Gromit must hunt down the Were Rabbit before the odious Victor...

Wallace and Gromit's 3rd spectacular adventure
Advantages: A thrilling adventure, great for the family, really captures your attention
Disadvantages: None at all
...contraptions that Wallace has made and is testing out - one example is the shopping trolley programmed to fetch goods from the local supermarket! The double DVD pack cost £6.97 on Amazon, which is reasonable value for money. The film is rated PG, probably because of the scary were-rabbit - I don't think children under 12 would be too frightened, though - nevertheless, the guidelines are in place. The film isn't on in the cinemas now - I believe it was released last year some time.
So - what's so good about this film? I've always been a fan of Wallace and Gromit, and, as you may well know, or as the Extras DVD will inform you, the development team spend so much time producing the films (hence why they're not produced year-on-year!).
The genre of the Wallace and Gromit films, for me, has always been Adventure-Comedy. Not only does...

Were-Rabbit Woes of Wallace and Gromit
Advantages: W&G, simple but pleasing plot, models, sets, props, witty visual/verbal jokes, action, editing, realistic animation.
Disadvantages: Nil.
...It's that super duo, the cheese-loving Wallace and his canine chum, Gromit, come to grace your friendly neighborhood screens once more! The dotty balding inventor and his smart, silent dog have returned in their first feature film that runs to a full 85 minutes.
So, abandon all pretense to gravity, ye who enter the wonderful wacky but genteel world of Wallace and Gromit!
Nick Park's animated clay (claymation) characters first came to people's attention via the half-hour short films 'The Wrong Trousers' , 'A Close Shave' and 'A Grand Day Out' from the 90s. Mr Park made his first splash with the subtly clever short, 'Creature Comforts' (1989), in which disconcertingly anthropomorphic zoo animals were interviewed about their daily concerns.
Mr Park's claymation is certainly for more than just the kiddies; in fact, I think...

The Con Man's Daughter by Ed Dee
Advantages: Strong display of grit and determination by protagonist
Disadvantages: At times it gets bogged down with little happening.
...From the beachfront of Coney Island in the heart of Russian mafiya territory and on up to Yonkers The Con Man's Daughter is set in the darker, more dangerous neighborhoods of New York. This is a brooding novel with violence only a matter of eye contact with the wrong person away. Ed Dee immerses us in the dark world controlled by the Russian mafiya, visits with Italian gangsters and reminisces through an ex-cop who gladly bent the law whenever it suited him.
Eddie Dunne is 54 years old, an ex-cop, a father and a grandfather. Since leaving the force he has worked a variety of jobs but the most notable was as a chauffeur for Anatoly Lukin, a Russian businessman considered by the police to be a crime lord.
When Eddie Dunne witnesses the kidnapping of his daughter he can only think of one person who could be responsible. Yuri...
