IN THE DEEP BLUE SEA
Advantages: Great cast, lots of action, very realistic (blood, sharks, death, etc)
Disadvantages: Weak story, not too many features
...Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water…….
Deep Blue Sea comes back and hits you with another shark story. This time the sharks are getting smarter, and with no natural predators they are doing pretty well.
In a search to cure the disease of Alzheimer’s scientist have discovered a way to alter sharks brains, so they produce a protein that encourages brain neurons in humans to being functioning again. Unfortunate to make enough protein for humans, the sharks have grown in size (up to 18 foot), and as another side effect the sharks are getting smarter. The whole experiment is set in an abandoned second world war submarine refueling depot in the Pacific Ocean. When a tropical storm, combined with an accident to one of the members of the crew, a disaster results in the three test sharks escaping...

It's Just A Deep Blue Sea
Advantages: Good twists in the story, A few comedy moments
Disadvantages: Under Use of SLJ
...I always seem to end up watching films when there on Sky that look a bit crap but more often and not they turn out to be a decent film. Well Deep Blue Sea is one of those films. Probably part of the reason I ended up watching it was the fact Samuel L Jackson takes a staring role, and being a fan of most of his films, cause he has done some that are awful, I sat down to watch this.
So what’s it all about, well a team of scientists lead by Dr. Susan McCallister (Saffron Burrows) are conduction studies on Sharks on an observation platform in the middle of the Ocean. The aim of the research is to try and find a cure for Alzheimer’s and to do this they have enlarged the size of the Shark’s brain.
Now Russell Franklin (Samuel L Jackson), a millionaire funding the project has decided to fly in for the weekend...

deep blue sea
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...the film as well as the box office. Now saying that, the trailers for DEEP BLUE SEA did not ?give the movie away?, but they could have been a tad better than they were.
Then there?s LL COOL J, the true star of the movie. He?s the character that above all others shines.
DEEP BLUE SEA is not the reinvention of the wheel. It?s a straight formula film. However, the formula is played pretty darn well. The set up of this ?near to the surface? research facility made it most resemble ANDROMEDA STRAIN, though once again, I want to make it clear that it?s not as good as that film.
BUT.... It is still A LOT OF FUN. It?s got good jump scares. It has plenty of those, ?What the hell are you doing you stupid character you,? moments. And at certain points you are feeling an awful lot like a crowd gathered about in a Roman Coliseum rooting for blood to be...

A Deep Blue Something
Advantages: Enjoyable nonsense, ably constructed and pretty effective at times
Disadvantages: Gaping plot holes, "only-in-the-movies" stupidity from the stereotypical characters, some poor continuity with the sharks' size, not exactly logical
...Renny Harlin's first directorial outing for three years made a bigger splash (oops) than his previous two - the ill-starred though unfairly maligned Cutthroat Island, and slick actioner The Long Kiss Goodnight. Both starred then-wife Geena Davis, and soiled Harlin's reputation as one of the elite directors currently working in the Blockbuster genre.
Whatever agenda many portions of the media had on their minds when brandishing these two movies abject failures, time will afford both projects a fairer assessment. Admittedly, Cutthroat sunk beyond reprieve upon its arrival in theatres, but the torrent of adverse pre-release attention was really the culprit. Long Kiss Goodnight fared slightly better, though still short of anything spectacular in box-office terms.
So to Deep Blue Sea, another - altogether different - aquatic adventure...

shallow blue sea
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...Is this movie little more than Jaws brought up to date? Again it features what is probably the world?s most efficient biological killing machine and offers the expected ?don?t go into the water? type tension and again we have some pretty sub-standard acting and lots of blood in the water type gore. But that is where the similarities seem to end. Continuing the ?science messing where it shouldn?t? theme of many of todays movies the plot of Deep Blue Sea is this:
On an offshore research station scientists are working on a way to regenerate brain tissue in the hope of curing Alzheimer's disease. It would appear that the most natural hosts for this experimentation are sharks and it is these upon which they are experimenting. However there is a side effect to their work. The shark?s intelligence is dramatically increased by these...

Deep Blue Sea not for me
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: what can i say
...Lovely weather, quiet evening and a Sainsburys reward voucher to spend on a video from Blockbusters....what a terrible evening that turned out to be.
Jaws was and still is an amazing, on the edge of your seat film with excellent acting. I was torn whether to rent Deep Blue Sea as I thought that it would not meet my expectation as all the other "shark" movies had not....I was right....what a load rubbish!!
Very dissapointed with the great actor, Samuel L Jackson's role in the film, he played a very weak part and I have lost faith in his acting ability, also Rap singer LL Cool J should stick to what he does averagely well and keep well away from movies.
The shark scenes in the film were so mechanical it was very amusing rather than edgy and the plot was just so "predictable" that I could have written it myself.
I...

Deeps Hitting
Advantages: Great effect, fun film
Disadvantages: None too many
...Memories of watching Jaws when I was just a boy, being taken to the cinema with my dad and my brother, watching this great but terrifying film (as I felt at the time), still come back to me sometimes. The claustrophobic, almost drowning feelings that is invoked, the horrific sights of bloodied limbs falling to the sea bed, of severed heads coming out of the bottoms of boots, and of dangling legs in the sea. The horror that was Jaws, to me, at about the age of ten.
I had nightmares after watching that film. I would not put my feet out of the end of the bed covers, for fear of then being bitten off by sharks…
And this is the evoking feeling that Deep Blue Sea presents you with. I am older and wiser now, and I can laugh at the scenes of razor sharp teeth biting into flesh. But that feeling, that horrific feeling of being...

Deep Blue Thrills
Advantages: Thrills galore.
Disadvantages: One annoying actress.
...In the mood for a good scare?
Hubby was at me for ages to watch Deep Blue Sea. I finally relented when the kids weren't awake to watch it.
I was expecting a jazzed-up version of Jaws. You know, better special effects, etc. Wow, this movie held plenty of surprises for me. From the opening scene through to the final climax, the ample plot twists and unexpected shark attacks kept both of us watching wide-eyed and alert.
Humour peppered throughout, thanks to the cook, lightened the tension appropriately.
The sharks in this tale are smart and the reason our characters have such a problem to begin with. The doctor to blame for all the adventure joins in the nail-biting action, but I won't reveal who makes it out alive at the end.
The only low point, for me, was the said doctor who meddled with the sharks brains, all in...

Jaws of the 21st century....
Advantages: Some great special effects, good acting, not too similar to Jaws
Disadvantages: Not quite as scary as Jaws
...Having seen this on the TV the other night I felt it was my moral obligation to share my views on the film with you all. I know. How generous am I?!
With a title like “Deep Blue Sea” what’s the first thing you think about (apart from deep blue sea by the way…) I bet some form of creature popped up in your thoughts didn’t it? And I bet it had teeth didn’t it? Well, if you were one of the many who thought up creatures with teeth you’re already much the way to knowing the general gist of this movie. If I mentioned Sharks I’m sure you’d all say “so its like Jaws then?” wouldn’t you? It’s a natural reaction really seen as Jaws has been around so long now and virtually everyone has seen at least the first Jaws movie. Actually, I’ve yet to meet anyone...
