Gods of rock

Advantages: A characteristically great album from a great band in their prime.
Disadvantages: Some of the out-takes really should be taken out!

...So the first question - who are Deep Purple? Well this question can be answered in 2 ways, the first is simple, they are a hard rock/heavy metal band that released their first album in 1968 and their most recent album was relesae just last month. The other answer is more complicated due to the fact that over the years there have been so many chops and changes in the band's lin-up that writing a proper history would be a review in itself, suffice to say that the band are in it's 8th incarnation with Mark II having reunited at various times to add to the confusion! ...When searching through the rock albums on ciao i was quite surprised to find this cd had only one review.This particular album has been with me since 1980 and gives me very fond memories of my childhood beginnings into music of this genre. ...As you've probably gathered by now, I love Nails Inc varnishes - my cupboard is filled with various different variations on the same colour. Nails Inc must have the most extensive range of nail varnishes I've ever come across - from pale pinks to bright neons there is a colour here to suit everyone! This colour collection trio is called Purple Craze (not to be confused with The Purples which has totally different colours!) and includes Belgrave Place, a deep violet, Piccadilly Circus, a deep cerise, and Charlotte Street, a pale grey. One of the best live hard rock albums ever

Advantages: Powerful, dynamic sound
Disadvantages: Occasionally self-indulgent

...Deep Purple took Osaka and Tokyo by storm on three nights in August 1972 - and this CD is living proof of the fact. Remastered for CD with three encores, this set really tears out of the speakers. The band pulled out all the stops and cranked it up to ten throughout, notwithstanding a gruelling flight from England the day before, and vocalist Ian Gillan's recent bout of bronchitis. Moreover, unlike most so-called live albums, what they played on stage is what you hear, without any overdubbing, splicing solos in from other shows, or faked applause. As you'd expect, most of the tracks sound a bit looser and more improvised than the studio versions, and to be honest, a couple verge on the self-indulgent side. Only the most devoted fan might want to listen to nearly 20 minutes of "Space Truckin'" more than once! But who can resist...
