Inspiring Inspiron from Dell

Advantages: Good spec, reasonable price, great processor
Disadvantages: The piano black surface attracts dust and dirt.

...I purchased the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop back in January for my daughter's birthday. I had a limited budget but wanted to get her something with decent enough spec for playing computer games should she wish to do this, and a large hard drive as she is a big fan of making videos on her digital camera and downloading music - two things which can eat up hard drive space. I did a fair bit of research before purchasing and decided I wanted to get the best spec I possibly could for my money and the Inspiron ticked all the boxes. I paid £399 in January 2009 in Currys for the laptop which was the absolute limit on my budget. The Dell I purchased has a dark blue coloured lid, however the rest of it is a shiny piano black which looks lovely. I would have preferred metal for the mousepad area - it feels sturdier and doesn't seem to attract...

DELL BUSINESS: The worst customer service & you have no rights

...I bought a few things from Dell for my small business. I realised one product was not compatible with the others when I looked at the email invoice (within 24hrs) so emailed them back straight away to say please can you not ship and can I swap for another product. On the Dell Business website top right hand corner 'view all' drop down menu of the site there is a link to a page where it says this is fine within 7 days although you have to pay £20 admin. I thought not great but its my fault and the other product was cheaper anyway so I could swallow the £20 charge happily. i then had a email response saying a sales rep will call to sort it out. Instead I actually got a curtesy call from despatch rep a few hours later to say they have shipped the product. I told him not to ship but he said its done now. Dell Inspiron 1545 - good entry level laptop

Advantages: Cheap, good brand, lots of features,

...The Dell Inspiron 1545 is an easy to use entry level laptop. Unlike two years ago when I bought my previous laptop, you can now get a number of Dell computers (of which this is one) direct from high street retailers. This is good if you want it in a rush and want a nearby place to handle any issues, but has the disadvantage that you can't customise your laptop to your own requirements to the same extent that you can if you buy it direct from Dell (which takes several weeks). Because Dell are so good at allowing customisation, you need to be very careful when you buy that you actually get the one you need - they are not all the same, so you can't just go into a shop and say "Give me your Inspiron 1545" - you need to be sure that it e.g. has a suitable processor, enough memory and a big enough hard drive for your needs. well designed little dell that never gets hot

Advantages: cool and quite robust trackpad, good display,64-bit windows 7
Disadvantages: few connectors,dell drivers only, not realy for gameing (most models), finger print prone!

...We got the Dell insperon as a replacement for our trusty old Toshiba laptop we did want a red dell studio but budgetary reality kicked in and we went for this insperon 1545, here's my review for it. Laptop specifications improve all the time, so I wont go on to much about the spec and concentrate more on the laptop as a whole. Now if your new to laptops or computers in general i`ll give you a bit of buying advice. If you want to buy a dell laptop from there website DON'T buy the cheapest £299 model it`s a false economy, there isn't enough memory (just 1GB of ram) witch will mean that it wont be as quick as it could be moreover you will find that it will get slower as you start to fill it up with apps. The dell inspiron laptop is it a good buy!

Advantages: The look of the dell inspiron laptop seems more classy then other notepads. It is simplistic.
Disadvantages: Maybe Dell Have gone too simplistic with this model as the features are nothing to rave about

...The Dell inspiron laptop has an attractive classy look, it has a simplistic stream-line look. When I take it out its case I feel good about it because its not a big bulky embarassing computer thing. However, if your one for keeping everything clean and tidy and no smudges anywhere, then maybe you might be irritated by this laptop. With its glossy look smudges, smears and fingerprints stand out like a sore thumb. You feel like your constantly wiping it. You also have to watch what you wipe the laptop with as it is quite easy to scratch. A better idea for Dell would be to provide a cloth to clean it with, one they know wont damage your laptop. It would be a real bummer to scratch it while cleaning it. I also decided to get the colour black because there wasnt a lot of colours to choose from which I found quite dissapointing as...

Dell Inspiron 1545 - tried and tested for 6 months

Advantages: Easy to use, perfect for storing vast amounts of data, very big hard drive!
Disadvantages: No webcam, poor battery life when watching films/episodes

Dell Studio 15 - A fantastic laptop!

Advantages: Design, Battery Life, Quality, Customisable
Disadvantages: Media buttons hard to see in dark

...have used. The battery charger can sometimes get a little hot, although this is only after a long charge. Incidentally, it is quite quick to charge. I have always found Dell to be quick and easy to contact, should any problems arise. I also like the fact that their laptops are customisable, and so you can choose whether or not to have a webcam, more memory, etc. Excellent prices too. We have personally owned 3 Dell laptops, while I use Dell PCs at college, and can say that they are of good quality and durability. Highly recommended, would definately buy again!...

Distant Dell

...My experience with Dell has not been a good one. Encouraged to buy on the basis that if there is a problem, Dell arange collection and return. I purchased a lap top for my 86 year old father who lives 200 miles away. He often had trouble with it, and I must admit that I thought it was him, however, within a few months he was reporting a message regarding a physical memory dump. Dell wanted him to try doing various things on the internet completely missing the fact that he couldn't even get on it. It was collected but sadly, never returned. It got lost. Instead of the week away, it was 6. However I was constantly reassured - but you will get a more up to date lap top now and no one seemed to understand that meanwhile, my father had nothing to use and he had lost all his photos and everything else he had put on it...
