Dell Inspiron 1545 - good entry level laptop
Advantages: Cheap, good brand, lots of features,
Disadvantages: Probably not powerful enough for games, bottom of the market now
...The Dell Inspiron 1545 is an easy to use entry level laptop. Unlike two years ago when I bought my previous laptop, you can now get a number of Dell computers (of which this is one) direct from high street retailers. This is good if you want it in a rush and want a nearby place to handle any issues, but has the disadvantage that you can't customise your laptop to your own requirements to the same extent that you can if you buy it direct from Dell (which takes several weeks).
Because Dell are so good at allowing customisation, you need to be very careful when you buy that you actually get the one you need - they are not all the same, so you can't just go into a shop and say "Give me your Inspiron 1545" - you need to be sure that it e.g. has a suitable processor, enough memory and a big enough hard drive for your needs. At the time...

Dell Inspiron 1545 - very reliable, ideal for a student
Advantages: Great Performance, Attractive cover, brilliant screen quality
Disadvantages: Smudges around keyboard, poor battery life
...used. It is a reasonably bright light which I find annoying and distracting if I am trying to use the laptop.
Screen
The screen is very clear and in my opinion it is very good for watching films. It has a wide viewing angle so you can sit to the side of the laptop and the picture quality will still be good.
Battery Life
Although the battery life is only up to 2 hours (depending on what your running), the laptop charges up very quickly which is very helpful. The power settings can easily be changed, exchanging performance for a longer battery life (up to 2 hrs).
Ports, connections and drives
The laptop came with 3 USB ports which I find to be plenty. It also has a VGA Port allowing you to use a second screen or a projector - ideal when doing presentations. It has a CD/DVD drive which is also a rewritable drive. Wireless...

Dell Inspiron 1545 - tried and tested for 6 months
Advantages: Easy to use, perfect for storing vast amounts of data, very big hard drive!
Disadvantages: No webcam, poor battery life when watching films/episodes
...After using the Dell Inspiron 1545 for 6 months, I would definitely recommend it as it is a reliable, easy to use and fast laptop. The main features of the laptop are summarised in the list below:
Windows Vista (Home Premium)
Intel Core 2 Duo T580
250 GB Hard Drive
3GB Memory
15.6" Widescreen
CD/DVD Re-writer
Wireless
3 USB connections
Lithium ion battery
I bought this laptop from PC world for £399 and have used it daily for six months. I usually use it for watching films and find that the resolution is very clear and of a high quality. I regularly burn CD/DVDs and have not experienced any problems since purchasing this item.
Also, I use this laptop for Internet use everyday and believe it is very convenient as it has a wireless connection and so can be used anywhere in the house or garden. In addition, the laptop...

Inspiring Inspiron from Dell
Advantages: Good spec, reasonable price, great processor
Disadvantages: The piano black surface attracts dust and dirt.
...a built-in webcam but this feature is available on some models.
The one thing we haven't tested is the battery life - Dell claim it's 2 hours however. As my daughter hasn't removed it from her bedroom since she got it I cannot tell you for sure. As she just recently broke the screen on my Samsung laptop, resulting in a large repair bill, she is probably too scared to move this one!
I am really pleased with the Dell Inspiron 1545 and think it's a really good buy for children or students as it's easy to use, fast to load and has a large hard drive but is available at a good price for the spec offered.
I do advise getting some half decent speakers to use with it however and cleaning it regularly - the piano black doesn't half attract the dust and show up fingerprints.
Overall this is a good machine for the money and it can be found in various...

The dell inspiron laptop is it a good buy!
Advantages: The look of the dell inspiron laptop seems more classy then other notepads. It is simplistic.
Disadvantages: Maybe Dell Have gone too simplistic with this model as the features are nothing to rave about
...The Dell inspiron laptop has an attractive classy look, it has a simplistic stream-line look. When I take it out its case I feel good about it because its not a big bulky embarassing computer thing. However, if your one for keeping everything clean and tidy and no smudges anywhere, then maybe you might be irritated by this laptop. With its glossy look smudges, smears and fingerprints stand out like a sore thumb. You feel like your constantly wiping it. You also have to watch what you wipe the laptop with as it is quite easy to scratch. A better idea for Dell would be to provide a cloth to clean it with, one they know wont damage your laptop. It would be a real bummer to scratch it while cleaning it. I also decided to get the colour black because there wasnt a lot of colours to choose from which I found quite dissapointing as...

well designed little dell that never gets hot
Advantages: cool and quite robust trackpad, good display,64-bit windows 7
Disadvantages: few connectors, dell drivers only, not realy for gameing (most models), finger print prone!
...We got the Dell insperon as a replacement for our trusty old Toshiba laptop we did want a red dell studio but budgetary reality kicked in and we went for this insperon 1545, here's my review for it.
Laptop specifications improve all the time, so I wont go on to much about the spec and concentrate more on the laptop as a whole. Now if your new to laptops or computers in general i`ll give you a bit of buying advice.
If you want to buy a dell laptop from there website DON'T buy the cheapest £299 model it`s a false economy, there isn't enough memory (just 1GB of ram) witch will mean that it wont be as quick as it could be moreover you will find that it will get slower as you start to fill it up with apps. ALWAYS buy the next model up if you are after a cheap laptop as you get a lot more for your money (as well as sufficient memory).

Big laptop Small money
Advantages: small money for perfect performance
Disadvantages: none
...I have used Dell Inspiron 1545 for a couple of months. I'm glad I made right decision. My friend who works in computer filed suggested me this one after asking me my demand for a laptop.
First , I would like to say , it can totally meet all requirements I expected from a good laptop. I use it to write articles especially for my blog, to send and receive emails, to talk on MSN and Skype with my family and friends abroad. It never let me down. I also used it to watch TV including the programs on BBC Iplayer. Compared to my desk computer, I can feel the speed on my laptop was faster and the stability of the network was better.
Second, it has nice overall design. Slim, Simple and sleek. You have three colors to choose . I chose the black one that matches from outside to inside. The keyboard has all the necessary controls that I used...

Nice laptop, FAB extended warranty!
Advantages: Good specs, fast, wonderful extended warranties
Disadvantages: Feels a bit flimsy, no indicator lights showing wifi connection, etc.
.... My husband really enjoys this laptop for playing games, but that is not the laptop's main purpose for him and anyone who wants a gaming machine probably needs to do some research.
It doesn't have indicator lights showing when the hard drive is working or when wifi is connected or when it's running on battery power (like my old Dell Inspiron does). Some people hate that. I'm not too bothered as I rarely paid attention to those lights, anyway. It also has buttons on the keypad to let you mute or change volume, which is very nice as my husband's last laptop didn't have that and it seemed to take forever for him to get the volume down if an ad popped up or a page had music! My current laptop has the "media" keys on the edge of the case facing me, which I like best, but having them on the keypad is a nice second-best option. The laptop also...

Good for Documents, Movies, Music but not for Games
Advantages: Losts of storage space, Reasonable price, Great multitasker
Disadvantages: Not for games due to poor graphics card and slower processor
...The Dell inspiron 1545 is a good, reasonable laptop for someone like a college student who has lots of work to do on Microsoft word and want to have the ability to multitask such as listening to music without any lag or slowness.
The laptop has an Intel Celeron processor (2.2GHz), which is great for multitasking but bad for games. If you want a laptop for gaming the best processor to go for (at a reasonable price) is a Core 2 duo processor. I recently bought The Sims 3 and it doesn't run as smoothly as it could, mainly being the fact that the processor and graphics card (Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family) is the most basic. Other features is the built-in camera which isn't very good, the pixels are poor, but does have a fun feature that lets you change your face shape and background etc but if you like to Messenger then I...

great little pc
Advantages: easy to clean
Disadvantages: no number keypad
...I know nothing about PC's but wanted a laptop for use around the house and for the kids - I was not really bothered about shopping around and ended up in PC World - I knew I needed one that was fast enough for the kids to play their games on and for me to surf the net
I didn't want to spend over £400 and would prefer to spend a lot less but the cheaper pc's on offer were flimsy and having had experience of laptop keypad buttons coming off on our old laptop I wanted to make sure that my new pc was more solid especially with kids who like to bash the bottons for some reason
anyhow, I looked at one dell laptop and it was lovely, I like to have the seperate number keypad at the side but the downside with that pc was the finish of the case, it was in lovely colours but it had a matt finish that I just knew would annoy me because I...
