Inspiring Inspiron from Dell
Advantages: Good spec, reasonable price, great processor
Disadvantages: The piano black surface attracts dust and dirt.
...I purchased the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop back in January for my daughter's birthday. I had a limited budget but wanted to get her something with decent enough spec for playing computer games should she wish to do this, and a large hard drive as she is a big fan of making videos on her digital camera and downloading music - two things which can eat up hard drive space.
I did a fair bit of research before purchasing and decided I wanted to get the best spec I possibly could for my money and the Inspiron ticked all the boxes. I paid £399 in January 2009 in Currys for the laptop which was the absolute limit on my budget.
The Dell I purchased has a dark blue coloured lid, however the rest of it is a shiny piano black which looks lovely. I would have preferred metal for the mousepad area - it feels sturdier and doesn't seem to attract...

Dell Inspiron 1545 - good entry level laptop
Advantages: Cheap, good brand, lots of features,
Disadvantages: Probably not powerful enough for games, bottom of the market now
...The Dell Inspiron 1545 is an easy to use entry level laptop. Unlike two years ago when I bought my previous laptop, you can now get a number of Dell computers (of which this is one) direct from high street retailers. This is good if you want it in a rush and want a nearby place to handle any issues, but has the disadvantage that you can't customise your laptop to your own requirements to the same extent that you can if you buy it direct from Dell (which takes several weeks).
Because Dell are so good at allowing customisation, you need to be very careful when you buy that you actually get the one you need - they are not all the same, so you can't just go into a shop and say "Give me your Inspiron 1545" - you need to be sure that it e.g. has a suitable processor, enough memory and a big enough hard drive for your needs. At the time...

Dell Inspiron 6400
Advantages: Nearly Everything
Disadvantages: Heavy
...Right I can tell this is going to take me a while as there is so much to tell you about this laptop.
I will start by telling you my own personal uses and experiences of this laptop. I bought this laptop over a year ago now after realising that my previous computer was now very outdated when it wouldn't even run the Windows 2000 operating system (let alone XP).
I spent about 3 months going around shops and browsing the net for the best models of laptop and I stumbled upon the dell website. This was easily the best of all the laptop manufacturers' websites as it was so easy to use. It provided loads of information upon all of its laptop models and once I had decided it was the 6400 that I wanted you are taken to a page which allows you to easily configure every imaginable setting for a laptop. For example it offers the options of four...

Dell Inspiron 6400
Advantages: light weiht, trendy model
Disadvantages: Heavy and bulky
...When I originally looked at the Dell Inspiron last March I was plesed, yet not blown away. The model was a solid, original product at a competitive price. However Dell's upgrade to that model, the Inspiron 6400, is most definitely aimed at ther entertianment line of the market.

Dell Inspiron 1545 - tried and tested for 6 months
Advantages: Easy to use, perfect for storing vast amounts of data, very big hard drive!
Disadvantages: No webcam, poor battery life when watching films/episodes
...After using the Dell Inspiron 1545 for 6 months, I would definitely recommend it as it is a reliable, easy to use and fast laptop. The main features of the laptop are summarised in the list below:
Windows Vista (Home Premium)
Intel Core 2 Duo T580
250 GB Hard Drive
3GB Memory
15.6" Widescreen
CD/DVD Re-writer
Wireless
3 USB connections
Lithium ion battery
I bought this laptop from PC world for £399 and have used it daily for six months. I usually use it for watching films and find that the resolution is very clear and of a high quality. I regularly burn CD/DVDs and have not experienced any problems since purchasing this item.
Also, I use this laptop for Internet use everyday and believe it is very convenient as it has a wireless connection and so can be used anywhere in the house or garden. In addition, the laptop...

The dell inspiron laptop is it a good buy!
Advantages: The look of the dell inspiron laptop seems more classy then other notepads. It is simplistic.
Disadvantages: Maybe Dell Have gone too simplistic with this model as the features are nothing to rave about
...The Dell inspiron laptop has an attractive classy look, it has a simplistic stream-line look. When I take it out its case I feel good about it because its not a big bulky embarassing computer thing. However, if your one for keeping everything clean and tidy and no smudges anywhere, then maybe you might be irritated by this laptop. With its glossy look smudges, smears and fingerprints stand out like a sore thumb. You feel like your constantly wiping it. You also have to watch what you wipe the laptop with as it is quite easy to scratch. A better idea for Dell would be to provide a cloth to clean it with, one they know wont damage your laptop. It would be a real bummer to scratch it while cleaning it. I also decided to get the colour black because there wasnt a lot of colours to choose from which I found quite dissapointing as...

Dell inspiron 6400
Advantages: quality
Disadvantages: should have bought th true life screen option.didnt like del button position
...I do a fair bit of travelling ,so when my toshiba equium gave up the ghost...dont buy one..!...i looked around for a mid range solid workhorse of a laptop.I was recommended the Dell Inspiron 6400 ,admittedly by an ex-dell engineer..but he had one in his rucksack..so couyldnt be all bad could it?
Well actually no..it was a good value for money buy,and it is still working today....as u can see from this review (**).
I got the larger battery( 9 cell) which i would recommend for any laptop computer really .
The Os was vista unfortunately ,,but i got used to it in the end.
I dont buy the 3 yr warranty for Dell..never needed it for any of the 4 pc/;aptops i have bought of theirs.
Overall i would say good quality and fair price and good performance.
oops sry forgot...because of vista memory greddiness..i bough extra 2x1gb ram...

Dell Inspiron 6400
Advantages: Speedy, Reliable, Great Support, Smart
Disadvantages: Bit Bulky, amount of junk you have to uninstall when you first get it
...I got my Inspiron 6400 laptop about 5 months ago, I brought it as I was tired of sitting at my desk working (when working at home). I've always trusted dell and recommend them to people that want to buy a computer.
I toddled off to dell.co.uk and browsed through the site. I wanted something that was a bit beefy, but didn't cost the earth and at the end of it I settled for the Inspiron 6400 that dell had a special offer on.
I went through the customising part of the order process (and is it just me or do they never come out the same price as they advertise?) I ordered, paid (god bless my flexible friend!) and waited. 4 days later I had a brand spanking new laptop waiting for me.
I fired it up when I got home and the first thing that struck me was the screen. It's a widescreen laptop (great for films) and the display is really...

Dell Inspiron 6400
Advantages: Fast, good looking and reliable
Disadvantages: heavy, a lot of unnecessary programs on it when purchased and short warranty
...Technological facts- I have 1024mb of RAM and a 60 gb hard drive. The screen is 15.4" wide screen with intel Dual-Core processor. I do not have vista installed but the machine is vista capable. The graphics card is a Intel Media Accelerator 950. It has a built in DVD R/RW drive, 4 USB ports, a port for a camera memory card and it has a 9cell lithium ion battery and has wireless connectivity.
My opinions- At first glance I got the impression that Dell had jumped on the Mac bandwagon and decked their machines out with white casing, albeit only around the edges. I personally think the effect looks stylish and works well with the overall silver colour.
The media buttons on the front of the machine also look good, although I am not entirely convinced about how functional they are. To use all but the sound buttons, the media player you...

Dell INSPIRON 6400
Advantages: Vista, Integrated speakers, Simple to use, Bright and Vivid screen.
Disadvantages: Battery life and weight
...media. Also one thing I have done with Windows Media Center is watch TV, with it, to do this you will need to buy a TV usb adaptor which are around £20. Finding files and programs is very easy using vista, you can just search for any file in the start menu. Syncing with devices such as a PDA is very simple becuase the new Windows Media Sync lets you drag and drop any file onto or off your connected device.
The wireless on the Laptop has a very long range, I could easily be outside or in my garage and still have full signal. The laptops speakers are very good compared to other laptop speakers, but if you do like your sound to be crisp I would consider buying laptop speakers. The Laptop looks stunning and has a very nice glossy screen. The battery life on the laptop is a downside, when traveling to london I watch DVD's on it and I am lucky...
