Dell Inspiron 1545 - good entry level laptop
Advantages: Cheap, good brand, lots of features,
Disadvantages: Probably not powerful enough for games, bottom of the market now
...The Dell Inspiron 1545 is an easy to use entry level laptop. Unlike two years ago when I bought my previous laptop, you can now get a number of Dell computers (of which this is one) direct from high street retailers. This is good if you want it in a rush and want a nearby place to handle any issues, but has the disadvantage that you can't customise your laptop to your own requirements to the same extent that you can if you buy it direct from Dell (which takes several weeks).
Because Dell are so good at allowing customisation, you need to be very careful when you buy that you actually get the one you need - they are not all the same, so you can't just go into a shop and say "Give me your Inspiron 1545" - you need to be sure that it e.g. has a suitable processor, enough memory and a big enough hard drive for your needs. At the time...

The dell inspiron laptop is it a good buy!
Advantages: The look of the dell inspiron laptop seems more classy then other notepads. It is simplistic.
Disadvantages: Maybe Dell Have gone too simplistic with this model as the features are nothing to rave about
...The Dell inspiron laptop has an attractive classy look, it has a simplistic stream-line look. When I take it out its case I feel good about it because its not a big bulky embarassing computer thing. However, if your one for keeping everything clean and tidy and no smudges anywhere, then maybe you might be irritated by this laptop. With its glossy look smudges, smears and fingerprints stand out like a sore thumb. You feel like your constantly wiping it. You also have to watch what you wipe the laptop with as it is quite easy to scratch. A better idea for Dell would be to provide a cloth to clean it with, one they know wont damage your laptop. It would be a real bummer to scratch it while cleaning it. I also decided to get the colour black because there wasnt a lot of colours to choose from which I found quite dissapointing as...

Inspiring Inspiron from Dell
Advantages: Good spec, reasonable price, great processor
Disadvantages: The piano black surface attracts dust and dirt.
...I purchased the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop back in January for my daughter's birthday. I had a limited budget but wanted to get her something with decent enough spec for playing computer games should she wish to do this, and a large hard drive as she is a big fan of making videos on her digital camera and downloading music - two things which can eat up hard drive space.
I did a fair bit of research before purchasing and decided I wanted to get the best spec I possibly could for my money and the Inspiron ticked all the boxes. I paid £399 in January 2009 in Currys for the laptop which was the absolute limit on my budget.
The Dell I purchased has a dark blue coloured lid, however the rest of it is a shiny piano black which looks lovely. I would have preferred metal for the mousepad area - it feels sturdier and doesn't seem to attract...

Big laptop Small money
Advantages: small money for perfect performance
Disadvantages: none
...I have used Dell Inspiron 1545 for a couple of months. I'm glad I made right decision. My friend who works in computer filed suggested me this one after asking me my demand for a laptop.
First , I would like to say , it can totally meet all requirements I expected from a good laptop. I use it to write articles especially for my blog, to send and receive emails, to talk on MSN and Skype with my family and friends abroad. It never let me down. I also used it to watch TV including the programs on BBC Iplayer. Compared to my desk computer, I can feel the speed on my laptop was faster and the stability of the network was better.
Second, it has nice overall design. Slim, Simple and sleek. You have three colors to choose . I chose the black one that matches from outside to inside. The keyboard has all the necessary controls that I used...

Dell Inspiron 1545 - very reliable, ideal for a student
Advantages: Great Performance, Attractive cover, brilliant screen quality
Disadvantages: Smudges around keyboard, poor battery life
...I bought this laptop from PC World in August and I am now at university. Since coming to university, I have used the laptop everyday for a wide range of tasks - and yes, I believe it has performed very well each time.
Performance
Both Startup, and shutdown are very speedy, ideal when you are in a hurry - as many students are! Once the logged in, the desktop appears rather quickly even though I have large programs such as Adobe Dreamweaver installed. When I bought Norton 360, I was worried that this would slow my laptop down too much since this is a large program, known for slowing down computers. But when I installed it, it bearly seemed to affect the laptop at all - even though I have it running constantly in the background!
Casing
The casing (or shell) looked very nice and shiny when I first bought it. The problem is that...

Dell Inspiron 1545 - tried and tested for 6 months
Advantages: Easy to use, perfect for storing vast amounts of data, very big hard drive!
Disadvantages: No webcam, poor battery life when watching films/episodes
...After using the Dell Inspiron 1545 for 6 months, I would definitely recommend it as it is a reliable, easy to use and fast laptop. The main features of the laptop are summarised in the list below:
Windows Vista (Home Premium)
Intel Core 2 Duo T580
250 GB Hard Drive
3GB Memory
15.6" Widescreen
CD/DVD Re-writer
Wireless
3 USB connections
Lithium ion battery
I bought this laptop from PC world for £399 and have used it daily for six months. I usually use it for watching films and find that the resolution is very clear and of a high quality. I regularly burn CD/DVDs and have not experienced any problems since purchasing this item.
Also, I use this laptop for Internet use everyday and believe it is very convenient as it has a wireless connection and so can be used anywhere in the house or garden. In addition, the laptop...

Dell Latitude D820 PC Notebook
Advantages: very powerful machine. Excellent support from Dell
Disadvantages: None
...I left my old company a couple of months ago and took up my new position with my current company who very kindly issued me with a brand new Dell Latitude D820 laptop. I've had an opportunity to put it through its paces for the last 8 weeks and this review will cover my experiences to date.
In terms of specification this laptop is much more powerful than my old one.
For starters it has a dual core processor. For those of you not familiar with dual core, this means that the main processor actually consists of 2 processors within a single chip. Each processor or 'core' can be used to perform a different task. E.g. one may be running Microsoft Office applications whilst the other could be running an application that plays your music files.
This is slightly different to having a computer that has 2 discrete CPUs and there are logistical...

Dell Latitude D630
Advantages: Light, fast, and Simple
Disadvantages: short battery life
...i have three DELL latops now this one is used for work, its qiute good for what it's for, It has bluetooth, WIFI, and built in broadband modem
On Wifi the connection is very fast but on broadband modem is painfuly slow, this could be because it is on T- Mobile, the sceen is small but it does the job. the intel Dou core 2 is very fast.
Spares are expensive but that is how DELL makes most of it profits, Value for money i would say is quite good, a Sony or Tosh at the same spec is £100's more, battery life is a bit short on a standard battery, and at about a £100 more for the extra life battery its a problem
Overall not a bad Laptop for work, wolud not say it would be good as a home laptop....

DELL LATITUDE D600
Advantages: Has a good Touch pad
Disadvantages: only one usb port
...Okay, first, hardware. This laptop is not very light out there, for those of you wanting featherweight laptops, but I carry mine with me all the time in my book bag and I don't feel the weight to be an issue. The screen gives crisp, vibrant images that are easy on the eyes, without any annoying glares at all
The DVD ROM is excellent because you can use it to burn CDs and DVDs, in addition to playing them.
There is NO floppy disc drive, but those are becoming outdated anyway. There is a USB port, and you can use the USB storage devices easily. Simply plug it in, and you're ready to save stuff onto your USB storage without having to go through any new hardware install processes.
The keyboard is very quiet, which is a plus when you are typing In addition, the keyboard has both the track stick and the touch pad, so fans of either...

Latitude D600 - The tough laptop
Advantages: Very robust, large screen & a solid performer!
Disadvantages: Fairly large and can get quite hot.
...I bought this laptop almost a year ago and have not had a problem with it to date. The design of the laptop is aimed at robustness and portability... all the hardware has been installed with the 'travelling salesman' at mind. I purchased this item as necessary equipment for my university course instead of buying a university recommended IBM ThinkPad. After much research I found that the IBMs tended to be a lot less reliable and the dell had good reviews all round - I have no been disappointed! The D600 does everything my home PC can do and more, with a lot less problems.
The laptop/notebook is not the cheapest out there but the value for money and quality of the product is excellent!
The only drawbacks I have found is that the hard-drive does get hot and you can feel this when you are typing; the heat is not uncomfortable however...
