Dell XPS M1530 laptop

Advantages: Great feature set, fast, GFX card, HDMI out
Disadvantages: keyboard/touchpad could be better

...I recently had a motherboard failure on my existing Dell Inspiron laptop and given its age, repair looked a bad move as one could buy a new laptop for less. However, once I decided to see what was available and given my two main criteria - a higher than usual resolution screen and three year warranty, I suddenly found the price spiraling upwards. After much searching I settled on an XPS M1530. The price on the Dell web site was around £1000 but a phone call to Dell resulted in quite a dramatic price cut to reflect my 'loyalty as a customer' and that it was a replacement for a failed (nearly four year old) unit. They probably won't thank me for saying what I paid but it was a done deal and a few days later it arrived. Features An Intel Core 2 Duo CPU running at 2Ghz and 2Gb of RAM, 250Gb SATA hard drive plus a 1680x1050 screen...

Advantages: Can be customised to individual needs, good build quality, competitively priced, excellent customer support
Disadvantages: Heavy, average battery life

...I bought this laptop 4 months ago in June 2008 and I have been very impressed with it so far. The design is stylish and sleek and there are enough colour options to please most people. The best thing about Dell is that you can customise your laptop to your own optimum specifications so I opted for the best quality screen for watching video files and DVDs and upgraded the memory and processor to improve the performance of games. So far I have had no major problems although the charger adaptor has recently failed. However this is covered under the warranty and a replacement arrived within 2 days of calling the cutomer service hotline. Pros: Specifications can be customised to individual needs. Inspiring Inspiron from Dell

Advantages: Good spec, reasonable price, great processor
Disadvantages: The piano black surface attracts dust and dirt.

...I purchased the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop back in January for my daughter's birthday. I had a limited budget but wanted to get her something with decent enough spec for playing computer games should she wish to do this, and a large hard drive as she is a big fan of making videos on her digital camera and downloading music - two things which can eat up hard drive space. I did a fair bit of research before purchasing and decided I wanted to get the best spec I possibly could for my money and the Inspiron ticked all the boxes. I paid £399 in January 2009 in Currys for the laptop which was the absolute limit on my budget. The Dell I purchased has a dark blue coloured lid, however the rest of it is a shiny piano black which looks lovely. I would have preferred metal for the mousepad area - it feels sturdier and doesn't seem to attract...

Review of Dell Inspiron 1545 Laptop

Dell XPS M1330 = BRILLIANT

Advantages: Excellent Screen, built-in webcam, very fast, never crashed (after 1 year, that's incredible)
Disadvantages: Slightly short battery life (but can easily be upgraded for very little money)

...This is a brilliant machine! I got mine with 4gb memory and a 250gb hard drive. I do all my coursework on this machine, but also use it as my games machine. EASILY runs both iTunes and The Sims 3 (a high RAM demanding game) at the same time. Excellent audio and visual quality with amazingly high volume potential speakers. Also has capacity for a 3G mobile broadband card (sim card like). Also, the design is very cool. I have the Product RED one, so mine is red color. Besides the color, Dell really took care on the design. It is just so pretty. To be honest, I don't really know about the OS and anything like that. But, as far as the speed of the laptop is concerned, it works so great! I never had any unexpected shutdown or close of a program. Since I upgraded to Windows 7, my battery life has increased, and my operating speed has sped up...

...i originally bought this laptop to get away from the desk and had high hopes for the XPG gaming Range of the Dell notebook range.... it doesnt disapoint. the keyboard is nice to touch and easily cleanable due to its chassis material, the design of the notebook is highly attractive, doesnt look bulky or ugly and comes in various colours (IIRC) my one is in silver and looks superb. everything is integrated, from the DUAL (yes dual!) headphone sockets, mic port, webcam, even has a mic included into the body! the accessories that came with it are also pretty cool, screen wipes, creative Ep-630 Headphones, case, a whole bundle of various CD's and the remote control is also a sweet item, being able to control music from the control is awesome!...

...I bought a few things from Dell for my small business. I realised one product was not compatible with the others when I looked at the email invoice (within 24hrs) so emailed them back straight away to say please can you not ship and can I swap for another product. On the Dell Business website top right hand corner 'view all' drop down menu of the site there is a link to a page where it says this is fine within 7 days although you have to pay £20 admin. I thought not great but its my fault and the other product was cheaper anyway so I could swallow the £20 charge happily. i then had a email response saying a sales rep will call to sort it out. Instead I actually got a curtesy call from despatch rep a few hours later to say they have shipped the product. I told him not to ship but he said its done now. So I called up the sale depo and was...

Amazing Dell XPS M1710

...Ive had the Dell xps m1710 ever since christmas and so far there ive liked it but there are disadvantages and are are advantages of the Dell XPS m1710. When i first got my laptop i got it with no Bluetooth and there was only a 2GB ram, Now i bought a Bluetooth moudle from the dell website for around £50 and i bought a 4GB ram of the dell website too. I have on my dell like any other new computers/laptops, Windows Vista mine is Windows Vista Ultimate which i think is very fast. The Advantages are... The screen is a 17" LCD monitor which is very good for watching movies and TV shows There is 7 music buttons on the front of the laptop which is very handy when you have your computer half closed and you dont want to flip it up and goto your media player to change the song or stop, play and pause or mute or just turn it up or down...

To be honest I liked the Fujitsu Siemens I had before much better than the last three Dells I was given, but I gave my last one back when I went on maternity leave. having gone back to work part-time now, I have been issued with a new one. And it's this: the Dell XPS M1330. As soon as it arrived on my desk it was obvious that it wasn't just another boring Dell. It looks much much cooler than the older Dell models. It has a 13.3in display and only measures a slender 318 x 238 x 33.8mm (WxDxH) with a weight of 2kg . Dell claim that this is the thinnest notebook in its class, but iti s wedge shaped so the thinness is not uniform on the laptop - i.e. iti is thicker in one place than it is in another - at its thinnest it is 22.1mm though...

...The Dell Inspiron 1545 is an easy to use entry level laptop. Unlike two years ago when I bought my previous laptop, you can now get a number of Dell computers (of which this is one) direct from high street retailers. This is good if you want it in a rush and want a nearby place to handle any issues, but has the disadvantage that you can't customise your laptop to your own requirements to the same extent that you can if you buy it direct from Dell (which takes several weeks). Because Dell are so good at allowing customisation, you need to be very careful when you buy that you actually get the one you need - they are not all the same, so you can't just go into a shop and say "Give me your Inspiron 1545" - you need to be sure that it e.g. has a suitable processor, enough memory and a big enough hard drive for your needs. well designed little dell that never gets hot

Advantages: cool and quite robust trackpad, good display,64-bit windows 7
Disadvantages: few connectors,dell drivers only, not realy for gameing (most models), finger print prone!

...We got the Dell insperon as a replacement for our trusty old Toshiba laptop we did want a red dell studio but budgetary reality kicked in and we went for this insperon 1545, here's my review for it. Laptop specifications improve all the time, so I wont go on to much about the spec and concentrate more on the laptop as a whole. Now if your new to laptops or computers in general i`ll give you a bit of buying advice. If you want to buy a dell laptop from there website DON'T buy the cheapest £299 model it`s a false economy, there isn't enough memory (just 1GB of ram) witch will mean that it wont be as quick as it could be moreover you will find that it will get slower as you start to fill it up with apps. ALWAYS buy the next model up if you are after a cheap laptop as you get a lot more for your money (as well as sufficient memory). build...
