Dell SBS Server
Review of Dell PowerEdge 2900 by
jamieh8980
Advantages: Very relaible and excellent after market support
Disadvantages: Price
...This server has been installed in a couple of my clients so far and i have to say that the fact that most of the SBS software comes pre-installed which save around 3 hours straight away. The aftermarket support for all Dells is first rate and they respond very fast should the hardware fail. The only thing can does put some people of is the price and the cost for spares upgradeds as these can be expensive if sourced direct from dell.
Another advantage of dells is that they can be tailured to the specific need of each people as the understand that some people require different things from their machines and servers. I would certainly recommend purchasing Dell equipment...

Dell PowerEdge 2950, universal server
Review of Dell PowerEdge 2950 by
koobra
Advantages: Very easy to set up and maintain
Disadvantages: Can't see any
...Power Edge is main line of Dell servers. 2950 is most universal base server from that line. If you are not sure what spec should your server have, just order it with one dual core CPU (1333MHz bus, not 1066; makes big difference), RAID5, three HDDs and 2GB of RAM (in two sticks preferably), two power supplies (it's server, reliability is it's second name).
You may find, that it's actually all you need. If not, thanks to superb case and internal build you can easilly upgrade its spec. It has two CPU slots, eight DDR2 banks, can take up to six SATAII or 8 SAS drives. It can also take any two PCI or PCI Express cards (depends which standard riser you ordered).
It come with minimum 3 years next business day onsite response warranty but it can be upgraded (althow it cost a lot more). From personal experience I have to say that Dell server...

THE DELL SEVER
Review of Dell PowerEdge 2900 by
apatra
Advantages: process well and durable.
Disadvantages: Have small features.
...The dell sever is built with flexibility and durability. And the most of all is that you can choose from tower or 5 u rack options with SATA and SAS hard drive. The dell sever comes in a black shiny colour with some few nice features that makes the sever well in processing. The sever has SATA hard drive type and this is a model of its own.
I bought this for one reason and that was for my Internet use and I found out that it was a good buy . Well I don't know on how this will look like in terms of price but in my own case, I will say that It is not that good value for money because it cost me a lot. I made a lot of savings before purchasing it but no need for that now because it has been doing well with my Internet services and has served for quite some time without encountering any problem. So I will recommend this to any body...

Dell Delivers Some Power from the Edge
Review of Dell PowerEdge 2450 by
andycharger
Advantages: Great reliability and performance
Disadvantages: Pricing
...Dell make some great servers. In fact, when I perform install for one of my companies, it is the one I reccomend that they use. Out of all of these, the Poweredge range is simply superior to anything else out there.
What it has is Dell's unique ability to customise your machine before you buy. If you know what you want and most of us do, you can spec your machine to them and they will build it to your requirements.
Alternatively they will offer you a base model that they reccomend.
They come in a Black Tower format so that it is easily stowed under or on a desk. If you have racks for your servers, you can ask for a rack mountable casing instead.
Inside the server you will find lots of powerful technology.
Although shipped with one, you have the ability to mount an extra Pentium 3 chip to aid the existing chip if the load is expected...

ukpcdaz on Dell
Review of Dell by
ukpcdaz
Advantages: Great website, Great systems
Disadvantages: Poor Customer care, poor efficiency
...Dell.co.uk is a great website, it lets you check the latest Dell machines, offers and seconds (damaged, boxless or returned, etc.)
When you have selected the system you want, you can edit it - adding or removing features. It has an automatically updated cost, that changes depending on the additions you make.
I am a network technician for a primary school, and we use 102 dell machines. Mainly Optiplex (which are the really small machines designed for networks) and two PowerEdge Servers.
To say I am happy with the machines would be an understatement.
The PowerEdge servers have never had a fault in the two years I've had them, they run just as smoothly as they did when I first bought them, and they're fairly silent, as server's go. Not once have either of the server's crashed, and as they come with RAID as standard, all data is totally...

A professional monitor at a consumer price
Review of Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP by
hootsmon69
Advantages: Plenty of ports and connectors, including a built-in flash card reader
Disadvantages: Needs calibration to get best colour - a yellow cast straight out of the box was readily correctable.
.... There is a myriad of connection ports around its edge: I particularly like the Flash Card reader as it means I don't need a separate one, though sometimes it fails to see the card - powering the monitor off/on fixes that....

Power Cable? Simple? Not With Dell!
Review of Dell Power cable by
sanepeg
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Breaks Easy
...So you've looked at the strange title and then seen that I'm reviewing a power cable! Now your wondering how I'm going to manage at least 120 words on a power cable. Well it's going to be easy seen as it's a......Dell.... power cable.
As fans of my reviews will know( do I have fans) I recently purchased a monitor from Dell. Well along with my monitor I got a basic package to run Office on because I do a lot of downloading and hate to slow the download down.
With my computer came a Dell power cable. Ok you can't really call it a Dell power cable but they do supply it so I'l blame them...
After unpacking my computer and plugging everything in I turned on the switch and..... well nothing. I checked all the wires and everything was plugged in so yet again I turned on the switch and.... well nothing again.
After inspecting the cables...

Outstanding system
Review of Dell OptiPlex 745 Essential DT by
jph20
Advantages: Excellent bulid quality, reliable and come with a 3 year warranty
Disadvantages: Takes 7 working days for the product to be delivered from purchase date
...The optiplex is an excellent choice of workstation for the home or business user. As standard these machines are preinstalled with Microsoft Widows XP Professional and are supplied with a 3 year warranty as standard. I personally have deployed hundreds of these throughout different companies and they are truely reliable. They most deffinately improve efficiency. Only one two occasions i have had any trouble with these workstations. The first time being a blown power supply, which Dell replaced the following day under the warranty and the second being a fault motherboard, again this was fixed the following day. The customer service and technical support Dell provide is second to none. Dell are produmentatly an irish company so there are no problems with language barriers as with some technical support departments. After both faults Dell...

Dell Ultrasharp 1702FP
Review of Dell Ultrasharp 1702FP by
matryx
Advantages: Simple to use, Analog/Digital Input
Disadvantages: Large Base, Large surround plastic, Very limited maneuverability
...by newer, more functional, and more ergonomic models.
When running at non-native resolution, one of two things happens.
If you have selected a lower resolution, the picture will be interpolated, leading to 'blocky' effects as pixels are up-sized to compensate.
When running in a higher resolution, on my setup at least, the desktop area just resized around the visible area so the pixels visible doesn't change and moving the mouse to the edge of the screen will scroll the desktop.
This behaviour will in part depend on your Graphics Card and Operating System.
Specs:
Size: 17"
Native Resolution: 1280 x 1024
Pixel Pitch: .26mm
Redraw: 25ms
Viewing angle: 170 degrees in both horizontal and vertical
Dimensions: 17.3" x 18.1" x 8.7"
Power consumption : 40 watts; (5 watts standby)...
