...This server has been installed in a couple of my clients so far and i have to say that the fact that most of the SBS software comes pre-installed which save around 3 hours straight away. The aftermarket support for all Dells is first rate and they respond very fast should the hardware fail. The only thing can does put some people of is the price and the cost for spares upgradeds as these can be expensive if sourced direct from dell. Another advantage of dells is that they can be tailured to the specific need of each people as the understand that some people require different things from their machines and servers. ...Power Edge is main line of Dell servers. 2950 is most universal base server from that line. If you are not sure what spec should your server have, just order it with one dual core CPU (1333MHz bus, not 1066; makes big difference), RAID5, three HDDs and 2GB of RAM (in two sticks preferably), two power supplies (it's server, reliability is it's second name). You may find, that it's actually all you need. If not, thanks to superb case and internal build you can easilly upgrade its spec. It has two CPU slots, eight DDR2 banks, can take up to six SATAII or 8 SAS drives. It can also take any two PCI or PCI Express cards (depends which standard riser you ordered). ...Dell make some great servers. In fact, when I perform install for one of my companies, it is the one I reccomend that they use. Out of all of these, the Poweredge range is simply superior to anything else out there. What it has is Dell's unique ability to customise your machine before you buy. If you know what you want and most of us do, you can spec your machine to them and they will build it to your requirements. Alternatively they will offer you a base model that they reccomend. They come in a Black Tower format so that it is easily stowed under or on a desk. If you have racks for your servers, you can ask for a rack mountable casing instead. Inside the server you will find lots of powerful technology. Although shipped with one, you have the ability to mount an extra Pentium 3 chip to aid the existing chip if the load is expected... ...Dell.co.uk is a great website, it lets you check the latest Dell machines, offers and seconds (damaged, boxless or returned, etc.) When you have selected the system you want, you can edit it - adding or removing features. It has an automatically updated cost, that changes depending on the additions you make. I am a network technician for a primary school, and we use 102 dell machines. Mainly Optiplex (which are the really small machines designed for networks) and two PowerEdge Servers. To say I am happy with the machines would be an understatement. The PowerEdge servers have never had a fault in the two years I've had them, they run just as smoothly as they did when I first bought them, and they're fairly silent, as server's go. ...A good server afew faults but nothing that cant be got around. I brought two of these a couple of months ago. Very reliable and excellent for web servers dns etc. One fault i found is that it is very fussy on memory which is the same on all dell servers it used ECC Memory which is Error Correction Standard memory on the market is mainly NON ECC which is alot less in price than the ECC Memory I wanted to upgrade the memory to 2GBs of Ram being brought with 1GB the memory set me back a further £70 This can be got round by asking DELL to build the server to the correct amount of memory you need. I thought i was being clever and saving money purchasing my memory else where to upgrade but didnt work out That aside it is a quality build Upgrade on processor is ok but wont support a 2nd processor. ...The dell sever is built with flexibility and durability. And the most of all is that you can choose from tower or 5 u rack options with SATA and SAS hard drive. The dell sever comes in a black shiny colour with some few nice features that makes the sever well in processing. The sever has SATA hard drive type and this is a model of its own. I bought this for one reason and that was for my Internet use and I found out that it was a good buy . Well I don't know on how this will look like in terms of price but in my own case, I will say that It is not that good value for money because it cost me a lot. I made a lot of savings before purchasing it but no need for that now because it has been doing well with my Internet services and has served for quite some time without encountering any problem. ...I was a bit nervous about buying a laptop, mainly due to friend’s opinions on the matter. I need not have worried, since buying my Dell Inspiron 2650, the larger desktop Pc that was once closer to me than the wife is now the kid’s homework tool. You build your laptop to your chosen spec online; a price window keeps you informed of the growing bill. This laptop really does have quality written all over it, from screen resolution which is pin sharp to the great feeling beneath the keys as I type these very words. It goes everywhere with me and wins new friends every day. I opted for the version with CD-RW/DVD all built into one unit and Win 2000 Pro installed. A Pentium 4 chip and 128 MB Ram keeps things flying along very nicely and a 20 Gig Hard Drive is plenty of space for normal use. The whole thing without finance charges... Read review

...First off, I ought to qualify this review by telling you a little about how much I've done and messed about with the Poweredge SC1425 servers. My company bought eight of them around a year ago, and since then, I've been solely responsible for integrating them into our infrastructure ("sticking them in the server room" for those now looking blankly at the screen). In so doing, these servers have therefore been taken apart, put back together, had various operating systems installed on that, have been racked up, unracked, moved around various physical locations, had upgrades and all manner of other things done to them- so in short, hopefully I'm well qualified to make more than a passing judgement about them. ...for the 32MB GeForce 2 Go, rather than the 16MB variant. I was impressed with the benchmark results, around 2400 in 32bit colour (2900 in 16 bit) 3d marks in 3D Mark 2001 & according to PC Mark 2002 the celeron 1.6Ghz was slightly faster than my 1.2Ghz Athlon in my main PC. Another thing I thought was great was the speakers, they were very good for laptop speakers but of course didn't provide much bass but did create a good surround sound affect. DVD playback was very good & the 15" TFT screen doesn't appear to have ANY dead pixels, very impressive! But like cheaper TFT's at many angles it looses it's contrast. Battery Life : With the HDD being read constantly it would last about an hour, with general use about 2 hours & with light use (MS Word etc..) I'd expect nearly 2.5 hours. Dispatch + Delivery : Delivery from Dell wasn't very impressive... Read review
