Dell Poweredge SC1425

My company bought eight of them around a year ago, and since then, I've been solely responsible for integrating them into our infrastructure ("sticking them in the server room" for those now looking blankly at the screen). In so doing, these servers have therefore been taken apart, put back together, had various operating systems installed on that, have been racked up, unracked, moved around various physical locations, had upgrades and all manner of other things done to them- so in short, hopefully I'm well qualified to make more than a passing judgement about them. Review of Dell PowerEdge SC1425 SATA

Dell PowerEdge 2950, universal server

Advantages: Very easy to set up and maintain
Disadvantages: Can't see any

...Power Edge is main line of Dell servers. 2950 is most universal base server from that line. If you are not sure what spec should your server have, just order it with one dual core CPU (1333MHz bus, not 1066; makes big difference), RAID5, three HDDs and 2GB of RAM (in two sticks preferably), two power supplies (it's server, reliability is it's second name). You may find, that it's actually all you need. If not, thanks to superb case and internal build you can easilly upgrade its spec. It has two CPU slots, eight DDR2 banks, can take up to six SATAII or 8 SAS drives. It can also take any two PCI or PCI Express cards (depends which standard riser you ordered). Inspiring Inspiron from Dell

Advantages: Good spec, reasonable price, great processor

...I purchased the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop back in January for my daughter's birthday. I had a limited budget but wanted to get her something with decent enough spec for playing computer games should she wish to do this, and a large hard drive as she is a big fan of making videos on her digital camera and downloading music - two things which can eat up hard drive space. I did a fair bit of research before purchasing and decided I wanted to get the best spec I possibly could for my money and the Inspiron ticked all the boxes. I paid £399 in January 2009 in Currys for the laptop which was the absolute limit on my budget. The Dell I purchased has a dark blue coloured lid, however the rest of it is a shiny piano black which looks lovely. I realised one product was not compatible with the others when I looked at the email invoice (within 24hrs) so emailed them back straight away to say please can you not ship and can I swap for another product. On the Dell Business website top right hand corner 'view all' drop down menu of the site there is a link to a page where it says this is fine within 7 days although you have to pay £20 admin. I thought not great but its my fault and the other product was cheaper anyway so I could swallow the £20 charge happily. i then had a email response saying a sales rep will call to sort it out. Instead I actually got a curtesy call from despatch rep a few hours later to say they have shipped the product. I told him not to ship but he said its done now. Out of all of these, the Poweredge range is simply superior to anything else out there. What it has is Dell's unique ability to customise your machine before you buy. If you know what you want and most of us do, you can spec your machine to them and they will build it to your requirements. Alternatively they will offer you a base model that they reccomend. They come in a Black Tower format so that it is easily stowed under or on a desk. If you have racks for your servers, you can ask for a rack mountable casing instead. Dell Inspiron 1545 - good entry level laptop

...The Dell Inspiron 1545 is an easy to use entry level laptop. Unlike two years ago when I bought my previous laptop, you can now get a number of Dell computers (of which this is one) direct from high street retailers. This is good if you want it in a rush and want a nearby place to handle any issues, but has the disadvantage that you can't customise your laptop to your own requirements to the same extent that you can if you buy it direct from Dell (which takes several weeks). Because Dell are so good at allowing customisation, you need to be very careful when you buy that you actually get the one you need - they are not all the same, so you can't just go into a shop and say "Give me your Inspiron 1545" - you need to be sure that it e.g. has a suitable processor, enough memory and a big enough hard drive for your needs. well designed little dell that never gets hot

Advantages: cool and quite robust trackpad, good display,64-bit windows 7
Disadvantages: few connectors,dell drivers only, not realy for gameing (most models), finger print prone!

...We got the Dell insperon as a replacement for our trusty old Toshiba laptop we did want a red dell studio but budgetary reality kicked in and we went for this insperon 1545, here's my review for it. Laptop specifications improve all the time, so I wont go on to much about the spec and concentrate more on the laptop as a whole. Now if your new to laptops or computers in general i`ll give you a bit of buying advice. If you want to buy a dell laptop from there website DON'T buy the cheapest £299 model it`s a false economy, there isn't enough memory (just 1GB of ram) witch will mean that it wont be as quick as it could be moreover you will find that it will get slower as you start to fill it up with apps. ALWAYS buy the next model up if you are after a cheap laptop as you get a lot more for your money (as well as sufficient memory). build...

Dell SBS Server

Advantages: Very relaible and excellent after market support

...This server has been installed in a couple of my clients so far and i have to say that the fact that most of the SBS software comes pre-installed which save around 3 hours straight away. The aftermarket support for all Dells is first rate and they respond very fast should the hardware fail. The only thing can does put some people of is the price and the cost for spares upgradeds as these can be expensive if sourced direct from dell. Another advantage of dells is that they can be tailured to the specific need of each people as the understand that some people require different things from their machines and servers. I would certainly recommend purchasing Dell equipment...

The dell inspiron laptop is it a good buy!

Advantages: The look of the dell inspiron laptop seems more classy then other notepads. It is simplistic.
Disadvantages: Maybe Dell Have gone too simplistic with this model as the features are nothing to rave about

...The Dell inspiron laptop has an attractive classy look, it has a simplistic stream-line look. When I take it out its case I feel good about it because its not a big bulky embarassing computer thing. However, if your one for keeping everything clean and tidy and no smudges anywhere, then maybe you might be irritated by this laptop. With its glossy look smudges, smears and fingerprints stand out like a sore thumb. You feel like your constantly wiping it. You also have to watch what you wipe the laptop with as it is quite easy to scratch. A better idea for Dell would be to provide a cloth to clean it with, one they know wont damage your laptop. It would be a real bummer to scratch it while cleaning it. I also decided to get the colour black because there wasnt a lot of colours to choose from which I found quite dissapointing as...
