...This 17 inch model of Dell's Flat Panel range provides excellent image quality even when using the analog over the digital input. On the downside, it's not the most aesthetic of monitors, and as pictured, you can't move it from the position it starts in. You can tilt it up and down, but the height is locked, and rotation left and right requires total repositioning of the base. Quite large for a TFT, it does seem to take up far more desk space than it should (almost 9 inches deep!). Installation was a breeze - literally just plug and play. Windows can treat it as a plain old VGA monitor until the dell specific drivers are installed (which you don't have to do if everything seems to be working fine anyway). ...FP makes the screen seem like widescreen at first. DVDs of TV shows (like Futurama and Family Guy) will run fullscreen and be displayed impeccably. Animations such as Futurama feature large blocks of luridly demanding colour and are flawless. HDTV (of what little is currently available) will have you ridiculing the skin conditions of your favourite actors. Widescreen films are displayed well and black borders are of sufficiently deep-blacks not to be obtrusive. The screen is big enough to be watched from ~1.5m away, any further and you will lose out in detailed epic views such as those in Lord of the Rings and the like. For this kind of use the Dell 2405FPW is better suited, simply for size advantage....

The monitor combines great image quality with a wonderfully sleek design, and it offers excellent adjustability including a pivoting screen. Also onboard are sensible extras such as four USB ports and an audio input. at the back of the monitor, the 1707FP has connection ports for audio, DVI-D, VGA, and one upstream and two downstream USB 2.0 ports; two more downstream USB ports are stealthily tucked into the left-hand side of the screen. I have rarely seen such an impressive assortment of connections in a 17-inch LCD. A quick-release button lets you easily remove the panel for mounting on a wall or an arm mount. However there are no built in speakers in the omnitor, however there is a sound attachment you can buy from the dell website...

Inspiring Inspiron from Dell

...I purchased the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop back in January for my daughter's birthday. I had a limited budget but wanted to get her something with decent enough spec for playing computer games should she wish to do this, and a large hard drive as she is a big fan of making videos on her digital camera and downloading music - two things which can eat up hard drive space. I did a fair bit of research before purchasing and decided I wanted to get the best spec I possibly could for my money and the Inspiron ticked all the boxes. I paid £399 in January 2009 in Currys for the laptop which was the absolute limit on my budget. The Dell I purchased has a dark blue coloured lid, however the rest of it is a shiny piano black which looks lovely. I would have preferred metal for the mousepad area - it feels sturdier and doesn't seem to attract...

Mine came with no dead pixels but Dell has a customer satisfaction guarantee and you can return it as many times as you want. Overall I'm glad I spent the extra money. Was plug and play, up and running in 5 mins. Large desktop for multi tasking having several programs running spread out over the screen. Massive resolution for gaming with amazing graphics. Large screen combine with a TV card replaced my TV....

...I ordered this from Overclockers.co.uk it cost from here £256 delivered. If I had purchased from Dell website the same monitor would have cost £310.20 and would have only come with a 3 year warranty. From Overclockers.co.uk, this monitor came with a 4 year on-site next business day warranty service provided by DELL. So this is something to bear in mind if you are in the market for one of these monitors. Prior to me owning this I owned a 17 inch TFT monitor, I had always used this with the standard VGA connection as my old monitor never had a DVI input. I was very eager to see the difference from my old monitor to the Dell UltraSharp 2007WFP as I was now in a position to be able to use DVI (the VGA and DVI cables came included with my monitor, but its worth checking with the seller to confirm this) and boy what a difference...

Dell Inspiron 1545 - good entry level laptop

...The Dell Inspiron 1545 is an easy to use entry level laptop. Unlike two years ago when I bought my previous laptop, you can now get a number of Dell computers (of which this is one) direct from high street retailers. This is good if you want it in a rush and want a nearby place to handle any issues, but has the disadvantage that you can't customise your laptop to your own requirements to the same extent that you can if you buy it direct from Dell (which takes several weeks). Because Dell are so good at allowing customisation, you need to be very careful when you buy that you actually get the one you need - they are not all the same, so you can't just go into a shop and say "Give me your Inspiron 1545" - you need to be sure that it e.g. has a suitable processor, enough memory and a big enough hard drive for your needs.
