Dell XPS M1530 laptop

Advantages: Great feature set, fast, GFX card, HDMI out
Disadvantages: keyboard/touchpad could be better

...previous 3Ghz XP based laptop but they're in the minority and I suspect more being influenced by Vista's foibles than any lack of power in the laptop itself. Most applications ran quite happily though. With the HDMI connected to a TV it managed to play HD material with only the odd judder so for that, it's borderline. Things did improve slightly with Vista SP1 though. Conclusion The Dell XPS 1530 series can be had from around £499+VAT upwards depending on options. For this you get a great chassis packed with features that really set it apart from the budget offerings that litter the supermarket shelves at £300 or so. Yes it costs more but you certainly get what you pay for and after a month of use, I'm very happy with the Dell XPS M1530. ...I bought this laptop 4 months ago in June 2008 and I have been very impressed with it so far. The design is stylish and sleek and there are enough colour options to please most people. The best thing about Dell is that you can customise your laptop to your own optimum specifications so I opted for the best quality screen for watching video files and DVDs and upgraded the memory and processor to improve the performance of games. So far I have had no major problems although the charger adaptor has recently failed. Dell XPS M1330 = BRILLIANT

Advantages: Excellent Screen, built-in webcam, very fast, never crashed (after 1 year, that's incredible)
Disadvantages: Slightly short battery life (but can easily be upgraded for very little money)

...This is a brilliant machine! I got mine with 4gb memory and a 250gb hard drive. I do all my coursework on this machine, but also use it as my games machine. EASILY runs both iTunes and The Sims 3 (a high RAM demanding game) at the same time. Excellent audio and visual quality with amazingly high volume potential speakers. Also has capacity for a 3G mobile broadband card (sim card like). Also, the design is very cool. I have the Product RED one, so mine is red color. Besides the color, Dell really took care on the design. It is just so pretty. To be honest, I don't really know about the OS and anything like that. But, as far as the speed of the laptop is concerned, it works so great! I never had any unexpected shutdown or close of a program. Since I upgraded to Windows 7, my battery life has increased, and my operating speed has sped up...

...i originally bought this laptop to get away from the desk and had high hopes for the XPG gaming Range of the Dell notebook range.... it doesnt disapoint. the keyboard is nice to touch and easily cleanable due to its chassis material, the design of the notebook is highly attractive, doesnt look bulky or ugly and comes in various colours (IIRC) my one is in silver and looks superb. everything is integrated, from the DUAL (yes dual!) headphone sockets, mic port, webcam, even has a mic included into the body! the accessories that came with it are also pretty cool, screen wipes, creative Ep-630 Headphones, case, a whole bundle of various CD's and the remote control is also a sweet item, being able to control music from the control is awesome!...

...All i can say from my dell experiance is, what customer suport??? I order a XPS 1730 at the begining of October, I am leaving for canada at the begining of November so wanted to make sure there where no delays. I was assured my laptop would arrive by the 22nd at the latest. I kept my eye on the ststus of my order and asked for several updates along the way. I was told everthing was fine (Que sale's person to insert head in sand) 22nd came and went no laptop. I recieved an update on the 23rd my order now to ship out on the 7th of November. I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to get a straight answer from dell, I have had calls and emails all saying different items where holding the order. No processor, no hard drive, no xps mother board!! sometimes being told it is being tested, only to recieve and email saying it was still being built...

To be honest I liked the Fujitsu Siemens I had before much better than the last three Dells I was given, but I gave my last one back when I went on maternity leave. having gone back to work part-time now, I have been issued with a new one. And it's this: the Dell XPS M1330. As soon as it arrived on my desk it was obvious that it wasn't just another boring Dell. It looks much much cooler than the older Dell models. It has a 13.3in display and only measures a slender 318 x 238 x 33.8mm (WxDxH) with a weight of 2kg . Dell claim that this is the thinnest notebook in its class, but iti s wedge shaped so the thinness is not uniform on the laptop - i.e. iti is thicker in one place than it is in another - at its thinnest it is 22.1mm though...

...If you always mobile like me and need the processing power of a desktop on your legs than the XPS is for you!! To me the XPS is more light a mobile cinema than a laptop. It features a very high quality crystal clear display, front media control, high quality audio speakers and 16 colour lights, yes that right! the XPS has multi-coloured lights emitting from the front, side and back of the unit, just to set the mood. Unfortuently having lighting fast components , large storage capacity and high quality audio and video does add up a fair bit of weight and heat. And of course the battery doesn't last long.
