Amazing Dell XPS M1710
Review of Dell XPS M1710 Core 2 Duo by
Willylad2K8
Advantages: 17" monitor, 5 in 1 memory card reader, WIFI
Disadvantages: Heavy and big
...It has a Built in Subwoofer for Extra sound
it has 1 network and 1 Modem ports, and has a Microphone input, Line out, Headphones ports and has 1 firewire port
The battery is a 9 cell lithium ion, so y our battery life will last longer.
It has a 80GB hard drive so you will have enough space for movies, documents, pictures and music etc.
It is a very strong and hard computer i dropped mine and it works perfectly fine.
The Disadvantages are...
It is quite heavy.
It is a very big size.
The keyboard is quite small
On other booting systems such as Windows Vista home premium the internet is quite slow.
it doesnt come with a bluetooth moudle so you have to buy one seperatly.
My Windows media Player when it comes to the end of the song it starts skipping.
More Info about the Dell XPS M1710
It comes in two colours Red and Black...

Dells Flagship - The XPS M1710
Review of Dell Inspiron XPS M1710 by
allangallop
Advantages: More power than your Lap needs, Front Media control, Mood lighting
Disadvantages: Very heavy, poor battery life, gets very warm
...If you always mobile like me and need the processing power of a desktop on your legs than the XPS is for you!!
To me the XPS is more light a mobile cinema than a laptop. It features a very high quality crystal clear display, front media control, high quality audio speakers and 16 colour lights, yes that right! the XPS has multi-coloured lights emitting from the front, side and back of the unit, just to set the mood.
Unfortuently having lighting fast components , large storage capacity and high quality audio and video does add up a fair bit of weight and heat. And of course the battery doesn't last long. Apart from these shortfalls the XPS is an exellent example of high-powered portable computing.
Remember Its a DELL! So expect exellent support. As with all Dell products the XPS is customisable so you can upgrade components to your...

Dell XPS M1710 new Gen (edited)
Review of Dell XPS M1710 Core 2 Duo by
leontata
Advantages: Most powerful laptop ever
Disadvantages: a bit heavy and unmobility, > 4kg
..., ... and much much more at the same time.
Supporting by the new hardrive with 160gb of memory, you can store up to 100 hours of DVD with exellent quality and gaming experience is improved ways more with 72000 rpm. Notice that 7200 rmp hardrives are much faster than 5400 rpm ones.
Sound card can be chosen between onboard Audigy card or Sound Blaster. Both support 5.1 surround sound for better gaming and movies. There is a class D subwoofer at the bottom of the laptop and 2 satellite with 2 Watts each giving really really realistic sound ( compared to others laptop ). But the problem is Dell doesn't support digital output (line-in, out) for sound card so you could find problems with connecting it to your 5.1 Speaker. I recommend using Creative T6100 5.1 speaker for high quality sound.
Dell XPS M1710 is a perfect laptop for portable users as having 6...

My Baby - Dell XPS M1210
Review of Dell XPS M1210 by
yours_ilze
Advantages: Small, light, great design, battery life up to 8h, memory 120GB
Disadvantages: Windows Vista due to number of softwares, plugins etc not being compatible with Vista
...I had Dell Inspiron 6000 for the last 1.5 years. It is a very good laptop, however it was too big and too heavy for me to carry around to work and university as well as its 80GB memory was not enough for me so I decided to get a smaller and lighter laptop with greater memory and battery life.
As usually, I logged on to www.dell.com to see what's in stock. Dell XPS M1210 was on a special offer so I checked out its features and value for money (£829 Incl. VAT & Shipping).
What attracted me the most was its weight (less than 2kg) and size H 31.4 mm x W 297.18 mm x D 220.98 mm as well as its modern design.
Dell XPS M1210 has silver keyboard and silver screen frame with a built-in video camera and its black on the outside. The screen is 12" WXGA (1280x800) with TrueLifeTM .and the best thing about it is that you can leave as many finger...

Dell XPS M1530 laptop
Review of Dell XPS M1530 by
ilaskey
Advantages: Great feature set, fast, GFX card, HDMI out
Disadvantages: keyboard/touchpad could be better
...laptop but they're in the minority and I suspect more being influenced by Vista's foibles than any lack of power in the laptop itself. Most applications ran quite happily though. With the HDMI connected to a TV it managed to play HD material with only the odd judder so for that, it's borderline. Things did improve slightly with Vista SP1 though.
Conclusion
The Dell XPS 1530 series can be had from around £499+VAT upwards depending on options. For this you get a great chassis packed with features that really set it apart from the budget offerings that litter the supermarket shelves at £300 or so. Yes it costs more but you certainly get what you pay for and after a month of use, I'm very happy with the Dell XPS M1530. The HDMI output and screen are the personal highlights and appearence wise it impresses - I've had people come up and ask about...

Dell XPS M1210 (Fast, Small and Hardcore)
Review of Dell Inspiron XPS M1210 by
whackstar
Advantages: Small, Fast and Fantastic Battery Life!
Disadvantages: Extended Battery Stick out the back!
...So I'm on the move, all the time! Wanted a machine that was light weight, fast, stacks of ram, loads of HD space and can handle things that most desktop pc's could do!
When I started looking for this perfect machine. I wondered if looking for something small was going to compromise speed and power! M1210 seemed to be the answer. Next best was a model from Philips.
Purchasing through the DELL order line was ok! I always struggle talking to foreign call centres particularly in this case as we were both trying to make sure the specs was ok but we struggled to communicate this to each other and I'm sure I ended up with some kind of insurance package I didn't need! But nether the less we both remained calm and patient.
What I went for:
Intel Cenetreno Dual Core 2.00ghz
1gb Ram
110Gb Hard Disk
128mb Graphics card
Extended Battery
Wifi...

Good Decision!!
Review of Dell Computer Corp. (Shop) by
Hotshot99
Advantages: Reliable, and Good support
Disadvantages: None
...and people holding on the telephone for hours on end to a call centre to speak to a technician and being charged £1.00 per minute for the privilege. We had no truck with Companies offering this type of service and we immediately crossed off our list Companies charging these exorbitant telephone charges.
Dell charge a local call rate.I have used their helpline on several occasions and it does take a bit of time to get through to speak to someone however, having got through I found the technicians very helpful and willing to spend time with you to sort out any problems I had.(I even received a follow up call to one of my queries two days later)
What really helped us in purchasing a DELL was on visiting their web site we were able to "construct" a PC to suit our needs in terms of price and which periphals we required by filling in a customised...

Dell XPS R400
Review of Dell Dimension XPS - P4 540 3.2 GHz by
bigdoug
Advantages: Great build, value and support
Disadvantages: Obsolesence as with all PCs
...I purchased this my first PC from DELL online in April 1998. The Dell Dimension XPS R400 had just been released and this was first purchase online at around £2000.
I was able to order slight changes to the base specification without being penalised for having a bespoke PC system rather than a mass prepared one. The order fullfilment was easliy tracked online. I could tell at what stage the PC delivery was, Construction, Testing, Awaiting Dispatch and finally delivery.
I upgraded the 3 year service with the first year onsite to 3 years onsite for the measily sum of £75, which would not even subscribe you to a PC magazine for the same period. I had problems with Windows 95 as I was new to the operating system, the telephone support offered was patient, expert without falling between these two stools.
Later, I had a problem...

Dell XPS1730
Review of Dell by
harry1511
Advantages: a nice gaming laptop
Disadvantages: no customer suport, I never actually recieved my laptop in the end
...All i can say from my dell experiance is, what customer suport??? I order a XPS 1730 at the begining of October, I am leaving for canada at the begining of November so wanted to make sure there where no delays. I was assured my laptop would arrive by the 22nd at the latest. I kept my eye on the ststus of my order and asked for several updates along the way. I was told everthing was fine (Que sale's person to insert head in sand) 22nd came and went no laptop. I recieved an update on the 23rd my order now to ship out on the 7th of November. I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to get a straight answer from dell, I have had calls and emails all saying different items where holding the order. No processor, no hard drive, no xps mother board!! sometimes being told it is being tested, only to recieve and email saying it was still being built...

Another great product from Dell
Review of Dell Dimension XPS T800 by
cash40
Advantages: Great systems, great support, great prices!
Disadvantages: They aren't a local 'down the road' company, so you don't get face to face treatment
...I've owned many Dell's, and they have all been excellent all round. The reason I first chose Dell was their prices were quite a bit cheaper than other leading manufacturers, their machines were highly recommended in reviews, and I could customise the system I wanted down to every last detail.
Contacting them was particularly easy, their staff are well trained and knowledgeable, which makes a nice change in this business. It's nice to be able to get help off someone who actually knows more than you do! My current machine is an XPS 800, I wasn't entirely sure of all the parts I wanted in it, so on calling Dell, the operator was helpful and full of suggestions, and not just the ones that made Dell more profit, they actually wanted me to have the system I wanted. Finally, and most importantly, the customer support they provide is second...
