Dells Flagship - The XPS M1710
Review of Dell Inspiron XPS M1710 by allangallop

Advantages: More power than your Lap needs, Front Media control, Mood lighting
Disadvantages: Very heavy, poor battery life, gets very warm

...If you always mobile like me and need the processing power of a desktop on your legs than the XPS is for you!! To me the XPS is more light a mobile cinema than a laptop. It features a very high quality crystal clear display, front media control, high quality audio speakers and 16 colour lights, yes that right! the XPS has multi-coloured lights emitting from the front, side and back of the unit, just to set the mood. Unfortuently having lighting fast components , large storage capacity and high quality audio and video does add up a fair bit of weight and heat. And of course the battery doesn't last long. Apart from these shortfalls the XPS is an exellent example of high-powered portable computing. Remember Its a DELL! So expect exellent support. As with all Dell products the XPS is customisable so you can upgrade components to your... Read review

Dell XPS M1710 new Gen (edited)
Review of Dell XPS M1710 Core 2 Duo by leontata

Advantages: Most powerful laptop ever
Disadvantages: a bit heavy and unmobility, > 4kg

...Dell XPS M1710 comes with the lastest gaming processor T7600 2.33Ghz and can be overclocked with T7600G version, running stably at 3.16Ghz. This laptop can satisfy the most strict gamer with the newest Nvidia chipset Geforce Go 7950 GTX, replacing the previous version Geforce Go 7900 GTX. Running at same speed (400Mhz) as the 7900 GTX, however, the 7950GTX has much a wider memory bandwidth : 44.8 Gb/s compared with 38.4 GB/s of the 7900GTX, obvously gamers will be able to enjoy maximized configuration of lastest games with 25% more frames per second. This graphic card is ranked 5 stars by Alienware. Dell XPS M1710 has a large 17" wide screen WUXGA with Truelife and 30% brighter than the previous gen. Comming with 2Gb of DDR2 at 667Ghz (support upto 4Gb), multi tasking is now easiest ever : gaming, movies, office words, musics... Read review

Amazing Dell XPS M1710
Review of Dell XPS M1710 Core 2 Duo by Willylad2K8

Advantages: 17" monitor, 5 in 1 memory card reader, WIFI
Disadvantages: Heavy and big

...Ive had the Dell xps m1710 ever since christmas and so far there ive liked it but there are disadvantages and are are advantages of the Dell XPS m1710. When i first got my laptop i got it with no Bluetooth and there was only a 2GB ram, Now i bought a Bluetooth moudle from the dell website for around £50 and i bought a 4GB ram of the dell website too. I have on my dell like any other new computers/laptops, Windows Vista mine is Windows Vista Ultimate which i think is very fast. The Advantages are... The screen is a 17" LCD monitor which is very good for watching movies and TV shows There is 7 music buttons on the front of the laptop which is very handy when you have your computer half closed and you dont want to flip it up and goto your media player to change the song or stop, play and pause or mute or just turn it up or down... An amazing laptop from Dell.
Review of Dell XPS m1330 by patricksimpson

Advantages: Beautiful, Fast, Sturdy, Good graphics.
Disadvantages: Heavier than some.

...In the past i've never gone for a high end laptop but the £700 I spent was well worth the money. I had reservations about buying from Dell because I have personal experience of bad build quality from one of their earlier portable laptops, the C400. But I am more than happy with the sturdy feel of the XPS m1330. I ordered from Dell online and received my laptop within 7 days. It came in an XPS branded box. Inside was the laptop inside a slip case and the relevant accessories; power cable, earphones, manual in a leather wallet, screen cleaning cloth and all the relevant driver CD's. The fist thing you notice is the beauty of the laptop. Its matt black and silver aluminium finish makes it stand out as anything but a standard laptop. The aluminium also serves to give the laptop a solid feel. The laptop is fast. It runs windows vista... Read review

More than I would expect from Dell.
Review of Dell XPS M1210 by ofour

Advantages: Small, fast, looks good, nice buttons.
Disadvantages: Gaming quality.

...The Dell XPS M1210 is small, very small. Its not thick and is not awkwardly shaped like the larger Dell laptops. However, if you opt for the larger battery it has a little protrusion out of the back which can be a little annoying. If you are buying this laptop get a graphics card with it, if you do not then it will run almost no games. I made the mistake of not opting for a seperate graphics memory card and now the laptop will only play games made before about 2002. the standard RAM is 512 which is plenty. The start up time is very good and most normal programs run efficiently. Antivirus programs I found ran especially quickly even with a relatively full hard-drive. The hard-drive I selected was 70 GB , I think that this is plenty if you are not fond of putting a lot of movies on your laptop. This memory is fast and reliable, I have... Read review

The Inspiron 3800 laptop
Review of Dell Inspiron Range by clint

Advantages: Very quick and robust
Disadvantages: A little expensive - but you get what you pay for.

...I would advise everyone to look carefully at which type of computer to buy - not just its specs, and would suggest a Dell every time. The reason being that, working as a web developer and programmer involves any computer being placed under a reasonable amount of pressure to keep open and run multiple applications at once - often ones which are very memory intensive (drawing packages especially). I have owned my Inspiron 3800 for 3 months now and use it everyday. However my 3800 has not given me any hint of being strained and has coped fantastically with everything thrown at it. I bought a Dell over anything else because, after having numerous types of computer here in the office the Dell Dimension XPS T500 we have is the only one which has never given us a problem. All of the computers we buy from now on are to be Dell's and I would... Read review

Dell XPS1730
Review of Dell by harry1511

Advantages: a nice gaming laptop
Disadvantages: no customer suport, I never actually recieved my laptop in the end

...All i can say from my dell experiance is, what customer suport??? I order a XPS 1730 at the begining of October, I am leaving for canada at the begining of November so wanted to make sure there where no delays. I was assured my laptop would arrive by the 22nd at the latest. I kept my eye on the ststus of my order and asked for several updates along the way. I was told everthing was fine (Que sale's person to insert head in sand) 22nd came and went no laptop. I recieved an update on the 23rd my order now to ship out on the 7th of November. I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to get a straight answer from dell, I have had calls and emails all saying different items where holding the order. No processor, no hard drive, no xps mother board!! sometimes being told it is being tested, only to recieve and email saying it was still being built... Read review

Good for Professional Photographer
Review of Dell Laptop Inspiron XPS M170 by catshark88

Advantages: Picture quality, screen size
Disadvantages: Have to order from Dell

...This laptop was bought for me by my husband when I set up a small business as an equestrian events photographer. It was chosen specifically for the amazing quality and resolution of the screen (so my photos look good), the size of the screen (so customers can see them well and then buy them) and speed so that large numbers of high resolution images can be downloaded quickly on to it. Memory was also important as I like to be able to take my whole portfolio to events so that people can view and buy from previous competitions. I was a bit sceptical. I already had a nice notebook and this is not a cheap PC. However, I have to admit, in writing, in public, that..... my husband was right and I was wrong! The XPS looks great. I know that should not really matter but I love having the strange lights and looking like I am using the computer... Read review

Dell Latitude D610
Review of Latitude D610-Ideal balance of performance and mobility by g.howard

Advantages: Well built, strong and robust
Disadvantages: Heavy and can get a bit hot with prolonged use

...It is a good sized laptop, built well, and of good quality. However, it isn't the most beautiful laptop around with a grey colour. So far it has worked well for me, starting up well and not crashing often, unusual for a windows pc. However, as you load more and more programs onto it, it can become a bit slow, especially at startup. As far a connecting to a network is concerned, it cannot be faulted. On some networks, however, if it is configured to connect automatically, it takes a long time to startup when disconnected. Although solid and well built, the laptop is a bit heavy for someone to have to carry around all day. I would not recommend it for that. There are lighter laptops on the market, even from dell (try the XPS 1210) The screen and inbuilt graphics card are good and clear and are able to be compatible with most games... Read review

A competitive performer in the business market
Review of Dell Latitude D630 by Mac2008

Advantages: Portable performance
Disadvantages: May be difficult in deciding on what spec to have

...I work in the IT industry and writing this review from the comfort of my bed using my D630! Now, lets face it, you are probabley only going to buy this laptop for business purposes, Dell don't even offer this to the home user market. So, its agreed, you are likely to be looking at this for work purposes, so the next question is, what do you need to do on it? When purchasing any asset for the professional environment it is all about cost effectiveness. This is often misconstrude as buy cheap... on the contrary, its about buying the most appropriate device for the job(s) required. For example; there is no point in buying a top spec XPS system if you are using the device primarily for email and internet browsing. So what sets this system apart from the others? The first thing to consider is that you are buying from a world leading... Read review
