Reviews of dell xps
Dells Flagship - The XPS M1710
Review of Dell Inspiron XPS M1710 by
allangallop
Advantages: More power than your Lap needs, Front Media control, Mood lighting
Disadvantages: Very heavy, poor battery life, gets very warm
...If you always mobile like me and need the processing power of a desktop on your legs than the XPS is for you!!
To me the XPS is more light a mobile cinema than a laptop. It features a very high quality crystal clear display, front media control, high quality audio speakers and 16 colour lights, yes that right! the XPS has multi-coloured lights emitting from the front, side and back of the unit, just to set the mood.
Unfortuently having lighting fast components , large storage capacity and high quality audio and video does add up a fair bit of weight and heat. And of course the battery doesn't last long. Apart from these shortfalls the XPS is an exellent example of high-powered portable computing.
Remember Its a DELL! So expect exellent support. As with all Dell products the XPS is customisable so you can upgrade components to your...

good first system
Review of Dell Dimension XPS T500 by
keithmydog
Advantages: Good help and support
Disadvantages: not the cheapest
...My first system was an xps500t. This was nearly 12 months ago and was chosen because of the support and warranty offered. Being fairly inexperienced I have found both the telephone support and web based support to be very helpfull. I have had no problems except self inflicted software related problems and would highly recommend buying a dell. With any problems I have had I have always been able to get excellent advise from the Dell web talk forum where everyone seems more than willing to help. Now I have had the opportunity of using other systems and discussing various problems others have had I know I made the correct choice with my first system and would not hesitate to purchase from Dell again....

Amazing Dell XPS M1710
Review of Dell XPS M1710 Core 2 Duo by
Willylad2K8
Advantages: 17" monitor, 5 in 1 memory card reader, WIFI
Disadvantages: Heavy and big
...Ive had the Dell xps m1710 ever since christmas and so far there ive liked it but there are disadvantages and are are advantages of the Dell XPS m1710. When i first got my laptop i got it with no Bluetooth and there was only a 2GB ram, Now i bought a Bluetooth moudle from the dell website for around £50 and i bought a 4GB ram of the dell website too. I have on my dell like any other new computers/laptops, Windows Vista mine is Windows Vista Ultimate which i think is very fast.
The Advantages are...
The screen is a 17" LCD monitor which is very good for watching movies and TV shows
There is 7 music buttons on the front of the laptop which is very handy when you have your computer half closed and you dont want to flip it up and goto your media player to change the song or stop, play and pause or mute or just turn it up or down...

Dell XPS R400
Review of Dell Dimension XPS - P4 540 3.2 GHz by
bigdoug
Advantages: Great build, value and support
Disadvantages: Obsolesence as with all PCs
...I purchased this my first PC from DELL online in April 1998. The Dell Dimension XPS R400 had just been released and this was first purchase online at around £2000.
I was able to order slight changes to the base specification without being penalised for having a bespoke PC system rather than a mass prepared one. The order fullfilment was easliy tracked online. I could tell at what stage the PC delivery was, Construction, Testing, Awaiting Dispatch and finally delivery.
I upgraded the 3 year service with the first year onsite to 3 years onsite for the measily sum of £75, which would not even subscribe you to a PC magazine for the same period. I had problems with Windows 95 as I was new to the operating system, the telephone support offered was patient, expert without falling between these two stools.
Later, I had a problem...

Dell XPS M1710 new Gen (edited)
Review of Dell XPS M1710 Core 2 Duo by
leontata
Advantages: Most powerful laptop ever
Disadvantages: a bit heavy and unmobility, > 4kg
...Dell XPS M1710 comes with the lastest gaming processor T7600 2.33Ghz and can be overclocked with T7600G version, running stably at 3.16Ghz.
This laptop can satisfy the most strict gamer with the newest Nvidia chipset Geforce Go 7950 GTX, replacing the previous version Geforce Go 7900 GTX. Running at same speed (400Mhz) as the 7900 GTX, however, the 7950GTX has much a wider memory bandwidth : 44.8 Gb/s compared with 38.4 GB/s of the 7900GTX, obvously gamers will be able to enjoy maximized configuration of lastest games with 25% more frames per second. This graphic card is ranked 5 stars by Alienware.
Dell XPS M1710 has a large 17" wide screen WUXGA with Truelife and 30% brighter than the previous gen.
Comming with 2Gb of DDR2 at 667Ghz (support upto 4Gb), multi tasking is now easiest ever : gaming, movies, office words, musics...

Dell XPS1730
Review of Dell by
harry1511
Advantages: a nice gaming laptop
Disadvantages: no customer suport, I never actually recieved my laptop in the end
...All i can say from my dell experiance is, what customer suport??? I order a XPS 1730 at the begining of October, I am leaving for canada at the begining of November so wanted to make sure there where no delays. I was assured my laptop would arrive by the 22nd at the latest. I kept my eye on the ststus of my order and asked for several updates along the way. I was told everthing was fine (Que sale's person to insert head in sand) 22nd came and went no laptop. I recieved an update on the 23rd my order now to ship out on the 7th of November. I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to get a straight answer from dell, I have had calls and emails all saying different items where holding the order. No processor, no hard drive, no xps mother board!! sometimes being told it is being tested, only to recieve and email saying it was still being built...

Another great product from Dell
Review of Dell Dimension XPS T800 by
cash40
Advantages: Great systems, great support, great prices!
Disadvantages: They aren't a local 'down the road' company, so you don't get face to face treatment
...I've owned many Dell's, and they have all been excellent all round. The reason I first chose Dell was their prices were quite a bit cheaper than other leading manufacturers, their machines were highly recommended in reviews, and I could customise the system I wanted down to every last detail.
Contacting them was particularly easy, their staff are well trained and knowledgeable, which makes a nice change in this business. It's nice to be able to get help off someone who actually knows more than you do! My current machine is an XPS 800, I wasn't entirely sure of all the parts I wanted in it, so on calling Dell, the operator was helpful and full of suggestions, and not just the ones that made Dell more profit, they actually wanted me to have the system I wanted. Finally, and most importantly, the customer support they provide is second...

Dell makes buying a computer hassle-free
Review of Dell Dimension XPS M Series by
quadruped
Advantages: Very high quality components, great customer service, no hassles!
Disadvantages: None that I've come across
...My current work PC, and my husband's home PC, are both Dell XPS. Buying a Dell computer is virtually stress-free: they have an excellent reputation for quality of build which is well deserved. We've bought PCs from other manufacturers and been disappointed - the last PC my husband bought from PC World had to be rebuilt inside before he could use it. Dell's are built solidly, and can be upgraded very easily; the new tower boxes are the easiest to open that we've ever seen.
Their website also makes it very easy to upgrade: just customise your system on the website and it will show you the price as you build. Delivery is speedy, and the system comes well packaged and with build and connection instructions so well laid out that a computer novice could follow them without any help whatsoever.
Dell's service is also excellent. All PCs come...

Dellicious
Review of Dell Dimension XPS B Series by
ProfPavilion
Advantages: Great product
Disadvantages: Cost?
...What a dreadful pun!
Dell are the Rolls Royce of PCs, and even though mine is nearly 2 years old, it is still as fabulously reliable as ever. The only thing now though, is that it might benefit from a little more RAM and a faster CPU [current spec 64mb and 333].
I think i may invest in both of these, but i would only bother buying the RAM at a computer fair, and not get ripped off by one of the trading companies.
Thing is though, this PC will last me until next year, when i may just upgrade the whole system. The alternative is to build myself an absolute stonker from scratch.
Any Dell is fine with me, so go buy one...

The Inspiron 3800 laptop
Review of Dell Inspiron Range by
clint
Advantages: Very quick and robust
Disadvantages: A little expensive - but you get what you pay for.
...I would advise everyone to look carefully at which type of computer to buy - not just its specs, and would suggest a Dell every time. The reason being that, working as a web developer and programmer involves any computer being placed under a reasonable amount of pressure to keep open and run multiple applications at once - often ones which are very memory intensive (drawing packages especially). I have owned my Inspiron 3800 for 3 months now and use it everyday. However my 3800 has not given me any hint of being strained and has coped fantastically with everything thrown at it.
I bought a Dell over anything else because, after having numerous types of computer here in the office the Dell Dimension XPS T500 we have is the only one which has never given us a problem.
All of the computers we buy from now on are to be Dell's and I would...
