Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Advantages: Easy read, hard to put down, alternative view from the usual
Disadvantages: Points could summarised better in certain areas

...Egotistical, arrogant and ruthless are three words which spring to mind after reading the manner in which Dennis approaches business. The declaration that employees are only useful for two years due to a diminishing rate of productivity shows the hard line approach in which Dennis governs his business. Pride and stubborness are also two unfavourable characteristics which Dennis oozes of throughout the narrration of his life to date. Yet, despite all the character faults displayed by Dennis he still comes across as a very astute, intelligent and, at times, likeable character. As the book takes its path the reader becomes drawn into a feeling of sympathy for a man's shallow pursuit of money, irresponsible substance addiction and wasted time in failing to appreciate the more subtle qualities in life. ...i dont know if he his good enough to represent his country at the highest level but the little guy has certainly put in some solid performances recently for both club and country.he didnt do to well in euro 2000 but then who on the england team did? hes getting on a bit now but england certainly need a player with a bit of bite in midfield and he could well be the man for the job.his distribution of the ball is also good and he often looks like a safe bet in the heart of the midfield.his temperament is a bit of a worry though,and he often finds himself facing red over it.control your temper dennis for every ones sake!...

DENNIS THE MENACE-WHAT ELSE DO YOU EXPECT?

...This DVD is about the old favourite from Beano comic books "Dennis the menace". My husband bought this DVD for my son when he was about 8MTHS old in the hope that he would like it(we all know that Dads usually buy what they want for their children and recapture their youth). I have never really been a fan of this character so was a bit sceptical but we ended up watching it that same day. The picture quality itself was good(I half expected an old cartoon) not exceptional but good. the audio is in stereo and dolby digital and the viewing ratio is 4:3(I usually just watch and let my TV adjust).It is about 45mins long and has 2 episodes on it: BATHNIGHT CLUB: Dennis wants to avoid a bath and has unexpected help from the Ministry of Defence to avoid Dad due to the potential of his smelly socks as a new weapon. Advantages: Amazing powerhouse drumming, long solos.
Disadvantages: All tracks sound stylistically the same.

...This album, Dennis Chambers, a world class drummer plays along with some world class musicians like Scofield (guitar), Michael Brecker (tenor saxophone), Randy Brecker (trumpet), Jim Beard (Clavinet, organ, keyboards and synthesizer) and Will Lee (bass guitar). I've seen Dennis play the drums live and normally when he's playing to a backing track or in a group he plays more drum solos and fills than grooves. But in this album he's actually laying down more grooves and holding them. Dennis chambers typical album consists mainly of funky bass line melodies and funky upbeat drum beats. But in this Outbreak album it's different to all his others. I t was much more brass and saxophone orientated than his usual styles. To me, I think its one of the best fusion albums. Advantages: Nice, light hearted BBC1 comedy

...As the two from The Mary Whitehouse Experience that didn't go on to sell out Wembley arena, or get comedy rechristened 'the new rock and roll', Punt and Dennis have subsequently appeared to some as being the less talented half of the original group. Indeed, their brand of comedy is less controversial, and therefore less sexy than the kind of material produced by Baddiel and Newman. However, that is not to say that their comedy is anything to be sniffed at.
