Advantages: Cheap, Powerful, Great sound for the price

Advantages: Size, neatness, good sound quality.

...The RCD-M33 is a CD receiver. In other words it is an amplifier, tuner and CD player combined. It is available with or without the speakers (SC-M33). I bought it without the speakers. Instead I added a pair of Wharfdale Diamond 9's. This was probably a good choice, firstly because the Denon speakers aren't very good. And secondly because the Wharfdale Diamonds are. I also purchased (seperately) the matching tape recorder (DRR-M33). The CD receiver was £200, and the tape deck was £110. The Wharfdale speakers were £100. All purchased from Superfi (www.superfi.co.uk). So the total, including some QED micro speaker cable was around £420. Postage was free. Anyway. What's it like? Disadvantages: So far, none ! Although even I find that difficult to believe

.... One cable (to the sub woofer) was home made due to length constraints. OK, where to start ? How about the overall feel first of all ? *** Stonking ! With the system as its stands, the Denon kicks out a heart thudding chunky sound for Home Cinema use, with the subwoofer playing a very prominent role at the lowest end of the frequency spectrum. I confess, I am a LFE (low frequency effects) junkie, I love explosions, car chases, gunfire etc. A lot of my DVD collection confirms this ! BUT, the system is equally at home playing Classic FM on the radio, or any of my 400+ CDs, and the sound is smooth, with no apparent lumps or bumps in the soundfield. Right, on to the techie stuff. ...The Denon is a relatively cheawp product that allows seamless and flowing DVD playback. It has supervideo playback system and an integrated user interface that allows users to easily navigate the device without using the remote control (if needed). The device may not be that well known, but the Denon range have been an active supplier in providing adequate products at a reasonable price. The Dolby AC3 sound system is a great beginner software tool that gives an amateur viewer a better look at playback options. However note that if you are a more experienced DVD Player user, this device is not the one for you. The price is by far the best advantage and in terms of attractiveness, the Denon is quite basic in design. Overall though, a great product for a first buyer!... Read review

...We got this CD player a few months back when our old Denon stereo (M30) got damaged and the insurance company replaced it with this one. It did come with speakers but as we already had speakers that we liked we stayed with those, and sold the new ones. The main features (as described in the manual) are: 1 – Quality power for high quality sound. 22W + 22W high quality amplifier and terminals for large speakers. 2 – MP3/WMA playback. Discs containing MP3 and or WMA files can be played, and the track and artists names can be displayed during playback. The track name/artist has to already be set up on the disc for this function to work. 3 – Tone and SDB control. Tone control is available for Bass and treble separately and the SDB (super dynamic bass) control enables powerful bass tones when listening at lower volume levels... Read review

Disadvantages: Unless you live very close to a transmitter it will require an ariel (see review) yet another discontinued Sony Hifi item (see review)

...A few months ago, I reviewd two Sony HiFi seperates items which I'd used to comprehensivly upgrede my HiFi system. I'd missed out the quite fantastic DAB tuner but this is now to be rectified. I'd acquired a portable Sony XDR-S1 DAB radio some time ago and had been delighted with it. However, I'd decided to acquire a proper Hifi system shortly afterwards and realised that a portable radio didn't exactly fit the role. Back in those days I had a mixture of Pioneer and Techincs seperates so the Sony name didn't matter so much in itself. So I had pretty much a blank sheet to work from. I looked into the possibility of acquiring a seperate DAB tuner. Several were available including models from Pure, Denon and Sony. They have produced over the years some fantastic benchmark products, and the Denon DM30 is no exception. Voted as the best micro hifi for atleast three years, Denon DM30 is an excellant product. With micro systems available from just £50, some people may find it hard to justify spending about £220, but for those who desire good audio perfomance this is an essential product. I can provide three good fundamental reasons to spend more money when purchising a micro hifi, they are 1) Sound. A more expensive micro system, such as the Denon DM31 will provide MUCH better audio performance. You will be more enganged in the music and will want to listen to more music. 2) Durability. Advantages: Ease of positioning.

...of a hifi bargain for some years. Not least because of the finish. They are piano laquered, by hand, in seven layers. So they have a beautiful gloss finish. They are available in various colours of real wood veneer. Black, Rosewood, Maple etc. They also sit on a small plinth, raising them slightly from the surface on which they sit. Four rubber pads are attached to the plinth. This is ideal if you want to sit them on a shelf or some other furniture. Many people extol the virtues of speaker stands. But I have never liked these, and much prefer to use furniture at the right height for speakers. The 11L requires an amplifier between 30W and 150W. I am using a 100W amplifier with them. They are certainly the best speakers I have ever owned. They are bi-wireable. They are capable of going fairly loud without distortion, and play well at lower... Read review
