Denon DM30
Review of Denon D-M 30 by
stavroshamster
Advantages: Great sound quality, Very stylish, Good build quality
Disadvantages: User interface not user-friendly enough
...I bought this product about a year ago along with the tape player which you can also get and have been very happy with it.
Having purchased Denon products before I had no problems in paying a bit extra for what I knew would be a top quality product.
The DM30 offers exceptional sound quality both from cd and from the radio, it has a very stylish design with a metal fascia rather than a tacky plastic one which you get on cheaper Hi-Fis. You get a couple of very nice wood-effect speakers which look superb and are designed and produced for Denon by "Mission".
The DM30 has RDS, RadioText (scrolls information broadcast from radio stations such as who the DJ is, news, etc.), EON, PTY and other features for the radio. It has input and output sockets in the back so you can connect other AV devices to it. I currently have a tape player, but you...

ASW610
Review of B & W ASW 610 by
Choppie1
Advantages: Compact size
Disadvantages: None
...I would consider myself, at best, an amatuer reviewer. I recently received my ASW610. Because of stock issues, I first used a ASW600 subbie and this was replaced by the ASW610. I have wooden floors in a 25m2 room, so perhaps I do not get the full benefit of the speaker. Comparing the 2 subbies, I find the ASW610 as good, if not better than the ASW600. It might be smaller, but it performs better. I only set the volume at about 50% which significantly adds to the movie and music expeirence. The subbie gets on with business wihtout overpowering the other components. From a space point of view, it is unsightly and out of the way. I use a Sony STR DA3200 AV receiver with a Denon 1930, B&W 684, HTM62 & LM1 surround speakers. Overall a very good combination....

Quality DTS - Dolby Digital Receiver
Review of Denon AVR-2800 by
BruceH
Advantages: On screen setup, great sound
Disadvantages: Cluttered remote
...Looking for a quality AV receiver, you've found it!!!
Features
--------
Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS support
S-video switching
Loads of audio inputs
Optical and Coax digital inputs
On screen setup
Quality
-------
From the moment you plug in this receiver you'll be amazed. You plug it into your TV and you can lay out your speaker set up on screen, balance the levels, direct the bass to the Sub etc.
The sound will blow you away.
As EX and ES are still very pricey Dolby Digital and DTS are good enough for most homes and this amp is the business.
Available in black and champagne finish.
Disadvantages
-------------
The remote is a little cluttered and difficult to use in the dark. Some buttons do glow and it is a learning remote but I think it could be improved.
NB: This amp has been discontinued and replace by the almost identical AVR...

Pop on some popcorn
Review of Denon AVR-3300 by
CraigBruce
Advantages: Flexibility, Well priced
Disadvantages: Not ideal sonically, Remote is large and somewhat confusing
....
Sonically, you have the opportunity to add some digital effects, or just as easily to switch them off completely (another handy feature is to play CDs/vinyl in 'basic stereo', without the subwoofer if you so choose). It could never be termed an audiophiles amp, but for me it has quite happily replaced my previous (Denon again) amp. Purists will likely find it overly warm in some situations, but again you're getting what you paid for - a receiver primarily targetted at handling a range of AV sources...NOT an audio amp.
On the radio side of things, performance is good, with the FM side boasting RadioText as well as RDS - with tuning simple and no problems in picking up all the stations you need.
For those (like me) with numerous boxes stacked around the TV and amp, you will probably also find the imposing remote that comes with this receiver...

Denon DRR-F101
Review of Denon DRRF101 by
terenco30
Advantages: good quality sound
Disadvantages: long and narrow design
...Having selling this item at my work I found that the setting up of this item with an amplifier is straight forward without having to read the manual that it comes with.
I sell a lot of these items due to its design and price, customers look at this product as expensive but a worthwhile product to stock in the home due to its high quality sound and expensive looking design.
The overall advantage of this product is the high quality sound that it produces.
at the back it has left and right audio phono sockets to connect to an amplifier.
There are other different Denon products with the same colour and design os the Denon DRR-F101 product. you can also purchase a Denon minidisc one.
The best place to get a cheap one but graded goods is Cash Generator
www.cashgenerator.com
They sell the Denon range as graded goods but look brand new...

Still A great pair of speakers
Review of Mission 702e by
jcneil
Advantages: Bass Performance, Treble performance
Disadvantages: You have to really look around to find them.
...I'm looking for a new hifi, I sold my old Acoustic Solution AV120 Floorstanding speakers on ebay and I am currently looking for a pair of new speakers to start with and these Mission 702e floorstanding speakers are very high on my speakers list.
Released back in 1999, these floorstanders are the Mission 702e's carrying on the great series of the Mission 700's including standmounters 700 and 701. These speakers were given a five star rating by what-hifi sound and vision and have been very popular since they were released.
The overall sound of these floorstanders is very good indeed. Bass performance is the most impressive thing about these speakers. You get a huge amount of solid taut bass here. The bass never sounds unruly or out of place.
The treble performance is also fantasic with vocals and instruments sounding very natural...

Marantz SR4400, sounds great, looks lovely
Review of Marantz SR 4400 A/V Receiver by
mendoza
Advantages: Great sound decoding, solid construction
Disadvantages: bit low on power output
...several devices, including CD player, TV, DVD, VCR, etc. In the manual are codes for most popular brands.
I believe the Marantz SR4400 to be a great reciever with many useful functions and lots of functions for the Audiophiles to be happy with. Their are lots of future proof features to like 96/24 bit processing which is higher sound quality than todays CD's and 6.1 channels in Dolby and DTS.
I would highly recommend this reciever over anything I have heard in its price bracket i.e the Denon AVR 1803, Sony STR DB790, and Yamaha HTR5550. It sounds amazing, has lots of features and looks stunning....

DVD Player that will make you happy...
Review of Denon DVD-1740 by
Mr.Freeman
Advantages: Simple to use, great playback
Disadvantages: Doesn't have many other features
...The Denon is a relatively cheawp product that allows seamless and flowing DVD playback. It has supervideo playback system and an integrated user interface that allows users to easily navigate the device without using the remote control (if needed). The device may not be that well known, but the Denon range have been an active supplier in providing adequate products at a reasonable price. The Dolby AC3 sound system is a great beginner software tool that gives an amateur viewer a better look at playback options. However note that if you are a more experienced DVD Player user, this device is not the one for you. The price is by far the best advantage and in terms of attractiveness, the Denon is quite basic in design. Overall though, a great product for a first buyer!...

Denon DM31's quality shines
Review of Denon DM31 by
bowdeni
Advantages: Fantastic audio performance, small, stylish, durability
Disadvantages: Lacks DAB tuner
...Denon have an excellant reputation of producing home entertainment components of an awesome standard. They have produced over the years some fantastic benchmark products, and the Denon DM30 is no exception. Voted as the best micro hifi for atleast three years, Denon DM30 is an excellant product.
With micro systems available from just £50, some people may find it hard to justify spending about £220, but for those who desire good audio perfomance this is an essential product. I can provide three good fundamental reasons to spend more money when purchising a micro hifi, they are
1) Sound. A more expensive micro system, such as the Denon DM31 will provide MUCH better audio performance. You will be more enganged in the music and will want to listen to more music.
2) Durability. The lifetime of cheaper micro hifis under £150 is litte more...

No need to spend more
Review of Denon DVD 2900 by
Mudspanker
Advantages: Build Quality, Universal Player, Sound Quality, Picture Quality
Disadvantages: Not Multi-region, not the best with CD playback
...drawback being that SACD will only playback the multi-channel through analogue outputs. This is something to do with piracy prevention apparently.
Picture quality is also hard to surpass, and I need a much better projector to really do this machine justice. Clarity is excellent, colours natural and very dynamic and detail very vivid.
My biggest gripe with the DVD 2900 is with CD playback. Anyone with a half decent system will be better off spending £3-400 on a stand alone CD player. After all the sonic fireworks with the other formats this is very hard to explain, but CDs just sounded flat and dull and not at all inspiring. It reminds me of the bad old days of early CD players and why it took me so long to buy one.
All in all, I cannot recommend this player enough, provided it is used mainly for AV purposes and not purely for Stereo hi...
