Fixodent neutral denture fixative

Advantages: tasteless, holds well, cushioning
Disadvantages: gunk left behind after can be a bit unpleasant sometimes

...THis is a review for fixodent denture cream neutral. This was the sample given to me by my dentist after having an immediate temporary upper denture. I am completely new to dentures and have not used anything like this before. SO how do you use it. Wash and clean denture and dry it. I put small dabs of adhesive in the required places, palate, gum area etc. Then pop denture in mouth, press for a minute and avoid food and drink for 5 mins. This fixative has held for me for over 8 hours. It is tasteless as it is the neutral version which I prefer. I find the flavoured ones off putting as you can be eating food and then get a taste of bland mint, not nice. It also cushions the denture which is important in the early days. Denture Tablets

Advantages: Leaves fresh minty taste in mouth
Disadvantages: Takes approx. 15 mins to soak in morning

...Referring to the Opinion written by J.H. Rushton some while ago now, I feel I must write my own Opinion on the use of the Steradent Tablets. I myself use these every day. They are an extremely good make and after an adequate soak in the morning, I find my Dentures feel much fresher and cleaner and there is certainly no 'nasty' taste left in the mouth except that of a Minty taste. I obviously go through the rest of the hygiene procedure necessary to clean my mouth, gums and obviously dentures first thing in the morning. But as with the Toothpaste, Mouthwash and Adhesive that I use, there is still no 'nasty' taste left in my mouth and I am consequently very happy with the Steradent Tablets, and will carry on using them. I also hope that people with new Dentures, or about to have new Dentures fitted will feel happy about buying this...

...I am writing a review about Fixodent Denture Cream, through the personal experiences of my nan and not my own, as I am not (obviously) a denture wearer myself yet! I feel I have to share this with you, as nan's experience with this product has not been a positive one. Nan has lived with us since her stroke at the end of last year and it's only recently that she's started to socialise out of the house with her friends again. She has recently started to go out to Bingo again with her friend Ruby on Thursday nights. She's been twice now, and dad drops them off at the door of the Gala and collects them again afterwards. Nan really looks forward to it and it's the highlight of her week. She got hair permed recently but was moaning that her teeth weren't "fitting" properly, like they used to. The Battle of the Plate

Upper dentures are easier to secure than lower ones. A denture is an unnatural phenomenon and is an irritant in the mouth. If it is loose, then obviously the irritation is even more acute. Beyond this the plastic of the plate tends to flex with the warmth of the mouth. Teeth can also migrate and gums shrink, which tends to leave an initially well-fitting appliance rocking in the breeze after a few short months. Not necessarily – I have a small upper plate with five dentures on after having several extractions due to a severe dental infection last year. ...never grew back - still waiting. I had a denture that rubbed, cracked the enamel. I ended up with very few teeth on the top. Originally the denture fitted quite well but over time the gums shrank. Very occasionally my teeth fell off - boy! is that embarrassing. especially talking to your boss. Everyone is always polite - but you can see the horror on there faces! ...inmate I would have been delighted, but I didn't so I wasn't. My delightful dentist then fashioned me a bridge with the missing teeth on it, an absolutely delightful thing. So there I was, 26, with a denture plate. But what was the alternative? Scaring the kids with my hang tooth, auditioning to be the nasty witchy woman in Snow White? No siree! Now we're a couple of years later, I'm used to the thing (although my partner has never seen me without it, kinda destroys the mystique!). Its slipped occasionally but thankfully never into a glass of wine or bowl of soup.
