.... Anyway, before you start rating me 'Off Topic' I'd better get onto the store! SELFRIDGES - AN OVERVIEW Selfridges is probably now the premier dept store in London. The 80's was the decade for Harrods, in the 90's, the award went to Harvey Nicks and now Selfridges is the place to be seen. If you are that kind of person, that is. In recent years it has opened 3 new branches, 2 in Manchester (Trafford Centre and City Centre - Exchange Square) and Brimingham Bull Ring(which I have been too and will mention later). Im not the kind of person who would usually shop at Selfridges, but due to my winnings I have grown to know the London store very well. It may be some people's idea of hell but you have to take it at face value. Its designed for people who LOVE shopping and have LOTS OF MONEY (in London, there are a lot of these people!) So...

Bargains in New York

Advantages: Great prices on designer and named ranges
Disadvantages: Be prepared to rummage

...I go shopping in New York at least once a year. My aim to track down bargains. One little treasure is Duffy?s. Basics: Located next door to Macys in the same building as Toys R Us (Toys R Us ? Basement/1st floor. Duffy?s 2nd-4th floor) Sells mainly clothes, sectioned into Men?s / Women?s / Kids / Gifts. Prices are very reasonable. It first reminded me of a C&A type store. But once you get a closer to the clothes rails you start spotting a few designer names and when you see the prices? you?ll understand why I went back several times in my weeks visit. My opinion: I must admit there is a far bit of toot. But I spotted great prices on underwear, $2.50 on DKNY, Valentino, CK & D&G bras. Shoes, Really unusual shoes for $9.99. Britain?s most average department store

Advantages: Location, lots of selection

...What is it? Debenhams advertises itself as Britain?s favourite department store. I would describe it as Britain?s most average department store. I am speaking from my experiences at the Swindon store; the other ones I visit tend to be slightly better. Debenhams has it?s own range of products and high street concessions in it. There are 104 stores. The Store Location: This is probably the best thing about it. It has a town centre location, which happens to be right by my bus stop, which is great when I have a 30-minute wait for the next bus. It is a 1960?s style building that has seen better days. Debenhams - a department store with something for everyone!

Advantages: A wide choice of items, good sales with up to 70% off, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Can be expensive at full price - wait for the sales! No free parking.

...My review of Debenhams is based on the Barrow-in-Furness store, but the basics should apply to any branch - they can be found in most big towns and cities, including Manchester. The Barrow store is the biggest shop in town; a huge department store covering 2 big floors, with a car park on the roof so you don't have to carry your shopping too far! Unfortunately they do charge you to park there, which I personally think is a bit of a cheek when you're shopping in their store, but ho hum! As for what the store sells - it has everything from womenswear, childrenswear, menswear, cosmetics, accessories, sportswear, lingerie, home items, gifts, wedding list...the list goes on! ...Christmas is coming up and many of you will be heading to New York for the Holidays ( or after ) and presumably you will want to do a bit of shopping. Some actually see the sights as well...anyway I thought I will let you in on a New York's other Best Kept Secret ( after Century 21stores) and this is Daffy's department store. It's actually Daffy's - not Duffy's. Anyway to the point. I just went to Daffy's website which is www.daffys.com to check how many stores they actually have in New York - Manhattan specifically, and I counted 7. New York, New York

Advantages: Fabulous shopping, bargains, great sights
Disadvantages: You will be tired and have foot pain at the end of the trip

.... You have your photo taken on the 80th floor before going up to the observation deck which you can purchase afterwards. We did, although it was quite expensive, something like $15, but it was our first time there and we wanted a souvenir. The views from the top are amazing and we were lucky that it was a clear day. It was freezing cold, quite unseasonably so for March we were told, but you wouldn't know it from the photos. After we'd bought some things from the gift shop we went back down to the street and explored further before finding our way to Macys. To me, Macys is still the best department store in New York, if not the world. It is huge. If you are not a resident you can go to the visitor centre and show your passport for a discount card which entitles you to a further 11% off. Combined with the low prices in store this...

One of the UK's best department stores

Advantages: Huge range of stock, cheap prices
Disadvantages: High interest rate on store card

I was granted an interview for a job in the Christmas card department. But the interviewer wrong footed me and I did not get the job. The sales staff are nicely dressed in dark green outfits. The perks are great. After 25 years services you are given 6 months off. A friend of mine developed heart problems 6 months after leaving John Lewis and the company paid all her medical bills. The John Lewis store in Croydon is worth a visit. John Lewis also owns the upmarket food store Waitrose and the department store Peter Jones in Sloane Square. The handsome Stuart Hampson is the chief executive of John Lewis and he can be proud of his staff and excellent store....

Review of Grey Line New York Sightseeing Bus Tours

The perfect location in New York

Advantages: Brilliant location, modern, big room, huge TV, one of the cheapest hotels
Disadvantages: Breakfast is expensive, toilet blocked a couple of times, not enough lifts

...The Park Central Hotel New York is in a brilliant location on 56th and 7th right in the centre of everything. A 10 minute walk downtown brings you to Times Square, 2 blocks uptown takes you to Central Park, 5th Avenue shopping is just 1 or 2 blocks to the east and a subway station 20 seconds away to take you to wherever else you want to go. Carnegie Hall is directly opposite and the Rockefeller Centre is less than 10 minutes away. The hotel is surrounded by gift shops and cafes and there's a nice little Irish bar just opposite. The location really couldn't get any better. When we first arrived it was difficult for us for find but that was only because we didn't have a map with us and because the grid system is so confusing at first. New York City's Best Kept Secret

Advantages: Small, Cheap, Quick to get around and beautiful animals
Disadvantages: Some animals looked way too hot in the heat we had. Wasn't sure if it was cruel or not?

...With the New York Pass we had the option of visiting two zoos, either the Bronx Zoo or Central Park Zoo. Well Central Park is only about a 20 minute walk from our hotel, so we decided it was probably better to go to this one rather than Bronx Zoo. After a very long day in the 90 degree heat, we finally arrived at the zoo, got our tickets and went straight into the zoo. The first obstacle you?ll face is the photographers, attempting to get more money out of you in the end; we declined as we all looked like utter crap due to the heat. We immediately found a little bit of shelter in the form of this huge gazebo situated in the main part of the zoo, we sat here for a while before going to look at the rest of the zoo.
