...Dervla Murphy grew up in Lismore, County Waterford which was in Ireland. Her parents who's to call her "Dublin bourgeoise. Dervlas's father was a librarian in the library near by and her mother suffered from rheumatoid arthritis and she had a passion of wanting to travel from an early age. On her tenth birthday she was given an atlas which she claims gave her the bug to travel. Also she was given a bicycle and so she travelled to different countries by bike when she was old enough. She began with shorter trips to Europe visiting France, Spain and Germany on month long trips by bike as she could not be away for longer as she had to look after her invalid mother. In 1962 when her mother died she then was able to embark on much longer trips abroad. So in 1963 Dervla Murphy set off on her first major trip by bike from Ireland to India...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...To be honest, if you have never heard of Dervla Murphy, the chances of "Wheels within Wheels" joining your library are slim. I think it's the kind of book that would get overlooked by browsers but as well as being of interest to fans of the author, I think it is similar to recent bestsellers in which the authors look back on unusual and often tragic childhoods. Dervla Murphy has spent the last forty-odd years traveling the world, sometimes with her daughter Rachel, but usually solo on a bicycle. ...My recent quest for FREE DVD hire I visited and many DVD web sites that offered a free trial. Now call me tight (no that wasn?t an invite), but I like bargains and freebies and am not ashamed to say so. My quest took me to enough sites to hire DVDs for about four months so far (with plenty to come too). My latest free DVD site also happens to be the best I have tried for several reasons (see rest of op); the site in question is Blockbuster.co.uk. Other sites that I have had free rentals from and then cancelled have all been similar, two weeks free trial with two DVD?s per time ? which in effect gives you about four free DVD?s. ...Before I bought this DVD player Id never really owned a DVD player before. I had however had and still do have a ps2 on which I used to play my DVDs. I never really went and still don’t go on this so much so I was going to sell it and buy a DVD player. In the end I decided to just keep the ps2 and to get a cheaper DVD player than I was looking for in the first place. The main reason why I wanted a new DVD instead of the one in the ps2 was so I could play divx format DVDs on it. The DVD player in a ps2 doesn’t recognise this format and scene as I have several divx movies already on disk and on my laptop to put onto disk then I wanted a DVD player that would recognise and play this format. DVDs for a fixed monthly fee...

Advantages: Simple, easy to use, quick delivery, good customer service
Disadvantages: May not have all the titles you are after

...I was using one of those sites that offer you points or a few cents for trying out free offers (don't recall which one exactly, may have been 'IPoints'...) and it had Lovefilm's FREE two week trial. I signed up free for the minimal membership which allows you to keep one DVD at a time for as long as you want (with no late fees!) and although I had to give my credit card information, the agreement states that you will not be charged anything if you cancel within the two week period.. The membership ranges from £9 to £15 per month now; I do not recall how much it cost mid last year to be honest.. The other memberships get you 2 and 3 DVDs at a go. I added the films I was interested in to some sort of 'wishlist'. The idea is that they send you one DVD, you keep it for as long as you want, then they send you the next one on your list...
