...I bought the Alphabet fun desk for my daughter for Christmas. She had had the Vtech phonics toy but had outgrown it – time to upgrade! DeskAngel would be more appropriate

Advantages: lots of information, tools, training and links
Disadvantages: search features could be better

...I visit DeskDemon from time to time and in particular their forums which they call 'The Hub' and the Job Search pages. The site as a whole is aimed at office workers and although I don't work in an office the tips and advice, tools and links on DeskDemon definately come in handy. Registration is free but I haven't registered yet as I haven't felt the need. I may register one day to gain access to their training section (I think they call it the break time university or something like that) to brush up on my administration skills. Registration is also required if you want to post in the forums but I just search them as there are plenty of posts covering office related topics. I've so far always managed to find the answer to my questions either on site or in the forum. I will say though that the site does include a google search box...

ASDA Beech effect PC Trolley / Computer Desk

...Have been looking around for a PC desk recently and needed something small but big enough for the usual PC equipment. Was going to buy a 2nd hand one until I seen this in ASDA and decided to buy it. At £27 give or take a few pence I grabbed it and thought I'd take a chance and I'm glad I did. The PC desk has top shelf for monitor, middle shelf for keyboard, lower middle shelf for printer/scanner etc and a base shelf for whatever you want. Where does the PC unit go your thinking ! The desk has a side metal shelf that can be fitted either site for the desk that a tower case can fit. But I have a desktop case !!! I hear you say, no matter the base unit will fit on the bottom shelf and you can do away with the metal side shelf or use it as magazine/paper storage. The desk itself has 4 wheels and the 2 front are locking...

Brightens Up an Otherwise Dull Desk...

...There's a running joke in my office (ok, with just me) that my stapler - the Rexel Centor Half Strip - is the superior piece of office equipment...and it is (and not just because our office is a bit on the dated side). It's pretty (important details first), ergonomic, takes up very little room and is pretty robust. Appearance and Storage Measuring in at 13cms in length or height (as it stands upright) and 4cm in largest width, it's reasonably compact - certainly shorter than the older flat bottomed staplers that most offices have. It stands nicely, meaning it can take up even less space on your desk. THE BEAST BESIDE MY DESK.

Advantages: HELPS ME KEEP MY COMPUTER AREA CLEAN.

My husband was fed up with seeing the floor beneath my computer filled with dust, and thought quite rightly that it was probably damaging my computer. His idea was to buy me a small rechargeable vacuum cleaner that could be near to hand, so that whilst I was sitting here at my computer, it really would not take me a great deal of effort to lean down and clean the little bit of floor under my desk, getting in between the mass of wires and extracting dirt that did in fact damage my computer. ...I insisted that the tower stays on top of my desk for all to see next to the monitor, rather than have it underneath my desk! It has a separate CD Re-writer and DVD Rom drive. I would recommend ensuring two separate Cd Drives to anyone wishing to get a CD Re-writer as it means you can copy CDs straight to another blank CD instead of having to save all the music onto your hard drive first, as this depletes memory pretty quickly. This model of HP Computer comes with a super doopa keyboard which enables you to control volume, visuals, email and Internet with one touch buttons; no need to open stuff via the desktop here matey! A laser mouse comes as standard too - this kind of mouse is much more efficient and precise, but I have found that these mice work better WITHOUT a mousemat - perhaps this is just down to the fact that my kids...

Reclaiming my desk!

Advantages: Large screen area, good clear image, space saving
Disadvantages: The power adaptor box (very minor really!)

...For many years, I have had a standard, 15" monitor on my desk at work. Now, bearing in mind that I work in a very small office with 3 other people, space is pretty limited... and so was the space on my desk, since my old monitor took up at least a third of it! But last year, my boss bought new flat screens for the office - and now I have so much space that I don't know what to do with it (apart from fill it up with more paperwork of course!!) It was decided that I should get a 17" monitor, due to the increased amount of webauthoring I'm doing, and I can't tell you the difference it's made, having a larger screen. The bonus is, that I haven't had to compromise the space on my actual desktop in order to increase the space on my virtual desktop! The Iiyama AS431UT is very compact, sitting on an oval base, that's around 10" wide...
