A Printer What Prints (Cheap too!)
Review of HP Deskjet 895cxi by
ben-lloyd
Advantages: Cheap, does what it says it will
Disadvantages: Better models available, A little out of date
...The HP DeskJet 895CXi is a perfectly adequate personal inkjet printer which does what one wants from a personal printer well; it prints.
At my workplace we have had several of these printers in use by single users for some years now without any major issues to note. Once installed and setup correctly, the 895CXi continues to run and run only ever requiring attention when out of ink.
In terms of physical appearance, the 895CXi looks no different to the raft of desktop inkjets Hewlett Packard produced in the late 1990s and early 2000s. A simple enough beige unit houses the printing wizardry and sits atop the paper tray. Paper is fed into the lower paper tray (capacity approx 100 sheets of A4) and once printed is ejected into the upper tray where the paper can sit while the ink dries. There is also a small slot provided for manually...

Good little office printer
Review of HP Deskjet 895cxi by
kevuk109
Advantages: Good print quality
Disadvantages: doesn't like envelopes very much
...We've been using an HP 895CXi in our office for about 2 years now and on the whole it's been a good little printer. Although this isn't a dedicated network printer, it can be shared via a Network so that several computers can print to it through one machine, which is quite useful as most fully networked printers come in at a much heavier price tag than the 895's modest(ish) £200.00.
The HP software is, as always a doddle to install and set-up - just put the CD in and it does most of the work for itself, and the HP toolbox enables alignment of cartridges, troubleshooting, cartridge cleaning and a number of print tests to make sure that the printer is running as it should. The print software itself offers all the usual options such as print quality, ordered printing & page orientation etc so will cope with most if not all print...

Review of HP Deskjet 970cxi by

Advantages: Two sided printing and the quality
Disadvantages: Ink cartridge prices
...I bought my HP Deskjet 970 CXI in March this year. Compared to other printers I have used it is very professional. It has the option to printer both sides of the paper at once. Very clear, fast and sharp printing. Looks very good. Lovely quality when printing photographs. Includes the option of USB which is very handy when you use more than one printer and USB is faster. The only problem I had was when installing the USB driver. I had to telephone them. Their support was excellent and they helped me out very quickly. This printer allows me to cancel print jobs easily unlike the other HP Deskjet printers I have had....

Advantages: Fast, quiet, very very reliable, double sided printing, useful driver features

Good quality Winprinter
Review of HP Deskjet 820cxi by
cpt-kirkjamest
Advantages: Good quality on ordinary paper, fast
Disadvantages: Flaky drivers, does not support Postscript
...I wanted a colour inkjet and the HP Deskjet 820 Cxi seemed like a good choice, so I got one.
Installation was easy using the instructions and disks provided. Be aware that the printer drivers can be flaky at times, so make sure you get the latest version from the HP website.
The printer itself is fairly stylish and has only two, easy-to-use buttons - on/off and resume/form feed. The two print cartridges (black and colour) slide out for easy inspection when the lid of the printer is opened.
This printer produces good quality printouts on ordinary paper (I don't use special printer paper), with resolutions of 300 dpi in colour and 600 dpi in black and white. As you would expect, the ink dries quickly. Colour can be too light or dotty at times.
Printing is mostly fast, although when printing high resolution images, the printer has...

D'ya think I'm CXi?
Review of HP Deskjet 990cxi by
ben-lloyd
Advantages: Duplex as standard, Infrared printing, Excellent quality
Disadvantages: Tri-colour carrtridge
...The DeskJet 990CXi is perhaps the best personal inkjet printer released by Hewlett Packard in several years. Featuring a special optical sensor, HP claims that this printer saves money in printing costs in the long run as it able to detect paper quality and adjust print quality automatically to match the print media.
The 990CXi has taken a slight deviation from what one usually expects of the DeskJet family in that it is an odd combination of cream plastic upper section and grey plastic lower section with an even stranger translucent silver window mounted in the top of the unit. Paper is loaded into the tray at the base of the machine (approximate capacity of 150 sheets of A4 paper) and ejected just above into the paper output tray. During printing, pages are held for a few seconds on a special bracket to allow the ink to dry before...

...and a nice backside too.
Review of HP Deskjet 990cxi by
stevethesleeve
Advantages: Quick, quiet, and effective. Awesome print quality..
Disadvantages: None found to date.
...Hours...many hours over several days...spent poring over the features, capabilities and benefits of a host of inkjet printers had left me feeling glazed and confused. I had narrowed the choices down a bit, but not much. I was still unsure whether I wanted an A3 printer or whether A4 would be OK. What resolution would be good enough for photo work...etc etc. You know what I'm talking about, because you've gone through it all yourself, right? So I ended up opting for the HP deskjet 990cxi. The deciding factor was the auto 2-sided printing feature, though all the other elements fell into place as well..definition, footprint, speed, noise levels, price (I paid about £240) etc.
What I hadn't realised was what a brilliant choice I had all but unwittingly made! Fast? Superman where are you now? Quiet? The British Library Reading Room couldn...

Affordable, great quality double-sided printing
Review of HP Deskjet 990cxi by
bgen
Advantages: Versatile, fast, great quality two-sided printing
Disadvantages: somewhat pricey consumables
...One of the high quality HP printers around, DeskJet 990cxi is an excellent A4 printing machine I would definitely recommend for either home or small businesses.
The print quality is excellent, with crisp and realistic colours (provided the printer is correctly calibrated, of course…), and the process itself is rather fast and quiet.
There is a choice of three different quality levels (I normally use draft quality for everyday printouts – and even so, the output is very good). The photos printed on glossy photo paper (high quality or even just normal) are fantastic (justifying the ‘professional series’ label…). It also features an optical sensor that detects the size and type of substrate (paper, transparencies, cardboard etc.) so it adjusts automatically the ideal printing mode. Anyway, be aware...
