Time for a nice cup of Detox?

Advantages: Quite tasty, caffeine free, makes a change from tea
Disadvantages: You have to like aniseed and licorice

...I guess it is that time of year again! Every time I pick up a magazine or watch TV someone, somewhere is going on about 'detox' and cleansing our systems following over indulgence during the festive period. Whilst I wasn't consciously really taking too much notice it must have slipped somehow into my subconscious because whilst looking through the herbal teas in Tesco during my weekly shop I spotted the Pukka Detox Aniseed, Fennel & Licorice Tea and popped a packet in my trolley. I should say that I hadn't especially over indulged in any event and for the most part my diet is fairly healthy in that I eat little processed food and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables but I do like to try these things and this one looked quite attractive. ...DETOX A herbal tea, this has dandelion, burdock, milk thistle, sage and liquorice in it as the main ingredients, and is supposed to be cleansing and detoxify the system. I purchased these for a work colleague who allowed me to try one (along with a few others in the office). One work colleague commented that the ingredients were possibly ?to make you regular? ie resolve constipation. It comes in a black box, with each tea bag in their own envelope, and there are 20 bags in each box. COLOUR This starts off as a light yellow but as you need to leave the bag in for at least 5 (five) minutes it turns to a darker colour, and one comment in the office was ?it looks like a urine sample?, and it does. ...After Christmas and New Year has passed, I decided to try a detox programme. I bought mine from Boots. It cost me £13.50, for a 5 day course. The pack contains 5 capsules and 5 phials with apple-flavoured liquid, there is also an information booklet in the pack. With my purchase of the detox kit I also bought some Digestive cleansing tablets (which cost £6) and some body freshener tablets (£6, they get rid of bad smells that your body produces whilst detoxing!) These tablets can also be used after eating anti social foods like garlic and onion, or very spicy things. I’m going to make this op like a diary, as this is only my first day at detoxing, there isn’t a lot I can write, but if I keep writing the changes and difference I see over the 5 days, we might end up with a worthwhile op. ...I have tried every single diet under the sun, from the atkins diet to the zone etc. With having little success. I saw Carole vorderman on TV plugging her detox book and thought I would look into what books there were available. I brought Jane Scrivners as it was a lot cheaper than Vodermanns and had positive reviews all around (I hate exercise and am usually lethergic, wanting a kip in the afternoon etc.) I was horrified when I read the book - you cannot eat meat, anything with wheat in it, sugar, or dairy produce. You also have to take a cold shower (arrrggh) every morning, eat raw veggies, do dry skin brushing and 30 minutes of exercise a day, which I never have the evergy to do anyway. The diet last thirty days. I gave it a go and the first week was the toughest of anything, I craved chocolate and cheese, got spots and felt very tired...

Virgin Vie spring clean detox

...I was bought Virgin Vie spring clean detox shampoo as a stocking filler at Christmas. I am one of these people with funny hair, it does not like for me to use the same shampoo twice in a row. I have to say though that this particular shampoo was just brilliant. It has a fresh aquamarine aroma to it. Every time I use it my hair feels much lighter. Being such an expensive shampoo I generally only use it about once a week. I like to detox my hair ready for a weekend of enjoyment. I only get 2 weekends out of 4 to go out clubbing and having fun, so I make the most. I always get to have silky, shiny hair, fortunately its naturally straight so no need for straighteners and gunk.
