The Little Prince & San Stefanos

Advantages: Great weather, friendly people, good food and very relaxing!
Disadvantages: not a lot going on during the evening for the younger crowd.

...Having been to Corfu now 7 times, 3 of which have been in San Stefanos, this is without question one of my most favourite places on earth! The long sweeping bay curls round and is surrounded by hills giving the resort a kind of 'secluded - tucked away' feel. Still relatively untouched by commercialsim (unlike it's neighbour Sidari) San Stefanos has a warm friendly - family atmosphere. Perfect for couples old and young or those who just want to get away and relax for a week or two. The weather in the resort seems to have it's own micro climate as the rest of the island can be covered in cloud and rain however the north west corner can miss a lot of this...though don't be fooled...when it does decide to rain it really goes for it! This fragrance came out way back in 1996 following the successes of Armani Mania (1981) and Armani Eau Pour Homme (1984). I have no hesitation in saying that Acqua Di Gio too is a success. Armani's Acqua Di Gio for Men is constantly being advertised everywhere, particularly in Debenhams and Men's magazines such as Men's Fitness and Men's Health. This was a big factor behind me buying this because Armani weren't going to spend millions advertising this fragrance if it was not good. ...This is undoubtedly one of my favourite fragrances. Acqua Di Gio is the older brother of Armani's new daytime fragrance Mania, and as such is a much more responsible mature fragrance, but no less fun! It is light, fresh and very different from the usual musky aftershaves for men. Plus it smells expensive! It is a light citrussy fragrance with rounded musky/woody undertones which make it good for nights out, but essentially this is a day time fragrance. This is for the young (and young at heart) professional - suitable for business meetings, as well as a night out on the town. It's a fun but formal fragrance and is slightly flamboyant compared to other mens aftershaves, but no less masculine - it's an alternative to the norm - which is always welcome! ...If you do love the city of Rome and you wish you go back,the best place to make this wish is at the Fonana di Trevi-remember the song " Three coins in a fountain". Legends says that by throwing a coin over your left shoulder into the fountain guarantees a return to this beautiful city. Throwing three coins mean you will get love,luck and be able to return to Rome!!. I threw three down the fountain the last time I was there - really hope this comes true. The Hollywood movies "Three coins in a fountain" and "Roman holiday" were filmed here-that's why this place is so well-known. The fountain is huge with places to sit aroud it. However, it's difficult to squeeze in as it's always packed with people, a very busy place indeed....

Aghios Stefanos Corfu my 2nd home

Advantages: Warm and sunny most of the time, Safe Beach central for Boat trips.
Disadvantages: Too far away

...I wish!!! I suppose that most of you will find this very boring but I have been going to the same place every year, except when my son was born, since 1985. The changes in that time have been major but what nothing can change is the warmth of the people, the quality fo the food and drink, and the general ambience. Various people have written about the beaches and the night-lifebut what few mention is the trust. You can let small children play on the beach, or go to the various Tavernas to play Pool, or go swimming in the various Hotel Pools knowing that they will be safe, and that the locals will let nothing happen to them. San Stefanos is a small club. The Harbour end of the village is annually peopled by the same returning holiday-makers and their children, and grand-children. The restaurant I have visited was in the West End of Glasgow, Just off Byres Road on Ruthven Lane. It is not very well signposted from the road and on your first visit you feel that you are going round the back of someones house to get there, down cobbled lanes. I wouldn't advise single females to venture on their own or with your best stilletoes either. ...Yes, another Venice review...Probably my last one though... Okay...Saint Mark's Basilica (Basilica di San Marco) was built in 1071, and is in Venice, at St Mark's Square (Piazza San Marco). The square can be hard to find, or very easy, depending on how good you are at navigating the streets (needless to say, we had a bit of a struggle!) Even though the basilica is enormous, I couldn't see it at all until we stumbled straight onto St Mark's Square, where it suddenly leaps out on you, dominating the place. If ever you go to Venice I would strongly recommend a trip to St Marks Square, as this building is probably one of the most amazing you will ever see.
