Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. An unsolved murder. A missing child. A lifetime of deception

...I have just finished reading a book called 'The Lost Daughter' by Diane Chamberlain. Diane Chamberlain is a completely new writer to me but what drew me to the book was the statement on the back of the book that states "for fans of Jodi Picoult this is a must read". As I had recently read 'My Sister's Keeper ' and 'Vanishing Acts ' by Picoult and enjoyed them both I thought that I would give Ms Chamberlain a try. I have to say that I wasn't disappointed and from around the middle of the book, I found it impossible to put down, it was a case of making the kids meals and serving them with one hand!! The story is about a young girl - CeeCee Wilkes - who has to change her identity after the kidnapping of Genevieve Russell, the pregnant wife of the Governor of North Carolina, in 1977 goes dreadfully wrong. Advantages: a great, maybe the BEST, point horror book
Disadvantages: might annoy people that guessing the culprit is hard

...did the same as Point Horror has, then tonnes of new authors would find limelight. Famous authors (from the Point Horror series) include R.L. Stine (See reviews on "Hit & Run" & "The Boyfriend"), Richie Tankersley Cusick (see reviews on "Trick or Treat" & "The Lifeguard"), Malcolm Rose & Caroline B. Cooney to name a few. ...I've just finished reading this book and had to write a review about it straight away because it was just so good - everyone should go straight out and buy it! I read quite a lot, but it's not often that I find a book that I can devour within twenty four hours of starting it - this book is an exception. I'm not sure why I bought this book - I think it must have been on offer on Amazon or something as the cover says that it costs £12.99, but I know for a fact I would never have spent that much on a book, however good it is! Based on the fact that I read the book in under twenty four hours you've probably guessed already that this book isn't a weighty intellectual masterpiece, but I think this novel is exceptional in its genre. Along the way Margaret's past unfolds itself too, she makes amazing self discoveries during her time with Vida. Diane Setterfield keeps you enthralled from about page 40, up to here it is basically laying down Margarets or some of her past, but my god from page 41 onwards I was captivated. I started to try and unravel Vida's secrets myself before turning the pages, but like the book intends, you are lead down a path only to find another branches off .
