Dick's In a Pickle!
Advantages: some funny bits, quite good story
Disadvantages: not as funny as claimed on the DVD case
...In need of a bit of light entertainment and a good laugh I spotted this film and as it was so cheap and sounded good I thought I would give it a go. Jim Carrey is quite god in other films which I have seen him in so I was expecting good things from this.
Jim Carrey plays the role of Dick who is married to Jane and they have a son. He is working for a massive corporation and things are going great for them, they have just moved into their new home and getting it all set up to how they like and when news come home that Dick gets a promotion he tells Jane to give up her job so she can spend more time with their son.
Dick is in for a massive shock on his first day in his new managerial role as he is thrown onto live television to talk about the company stock and shares when the company suddenly falls into trouble and Dick is left...

The original Dick Tracy
Advantages: A good villain
Disadvantages: Some really awful logic in the crime solving
...Dick Tracy first appeared in 1931, the creation of cartoonist Chester Gould. The intelligent, hard nosed cop was a mainstay in newspapers from that date onwards written and drawn by Gould himself for close on 46 years, finally giving up having at least some involvement in his strip and hanging up his pen and pencil in 1977.
Tracy became a national icon and forged a career catching criminals in a whole host of media during the 30?s and 40?s. He had a long running radio career that spanned almost 15 years, starred in 4 movie serials between 1937 and 1941 and then 4 B-movies between 195-47.
He made a brief return to prominence in 1990 when a spectacularly colourful movie starring Warren Beatty and Madonna was released, though it was pretty faithful to the character it did crash and burn quite spectacularly.

Dicks best shot
Advantages: The best Dick Tracy film
Disadvantages: Looks old and dated in places

You Suck, Dick. Love Deep Throat.
Advantages: Funny, Good Characters, Great Cast, Decent Storyline.
Disadvantages: None For Me!
...I?m a huge Kirsten Dunst fan (don?t diss her Deano!! :P) and have all of her movies on DVD. One of my most favourites is the not so serious movie ?Dick? and boys before you ask; no it?s not a porno movie! This is a teen movie, set in the 70?s. It?s not your average teen movie but still a thoroughly enjoyable one.
Ever wondered what really happened during the Watergate scandal? Who was deep throat? Do you really want to know? If so, don?t watch ?Dick? because this is a fun theory on all those mysterious happenings during the scandal. The writers of this movie have come up with this fun and wacky explanation of who deep throat was; it?s nothing but funny!
This movie may not appeal to the teenage audience due to the story but don?t think you?ll need to know a lot about Watergate beforehand to enjoy this movie. It has decent comedy...

Dick bangs against Ball
Advantages: Not many at all
Disadvantages: A very poor entry into the series

FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Dick Whittington Farm Park
Advantages: So much to do inside and out!
Disadvantages: Still a bit of a work in progress
...The Dick Whittington Farm Park is a wonderful award winning childrens activity centre and a working farm, nestled in the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside of Little London, Longhope. Conveniently situated just off the A4136 it isn't too far off the beaten track, but just enough to wallow in the tranquil 100 acre setting . But don't get too relaxed, this is a childrens activity park remember!
We are lucky enough to live close to the farm park and visit it regularly, especially throughout the drier months when you can really take advantage of all that is on offer. This isn't to say there is nothing to do in the winter months, far from it, the Dick Whittington manages to offer fun and interesting activities all year round, Father Christmas & his Grotto, twilight lantern walks and easter egg hunts to name a few.

Dicks, cocks, organs and big weapons at the ready!
Advantages: The usual carry on romp
Disadvantages: The humour can be too much at times
...The dastardly Dick Turpin is holding up God-fearing people and ridding them of their valuables and clothes at gun-point. Luckily for ye olde Englande, the famous Bow Street Runners have recently come into being, and two of its most valued members (no pun intended), Captain Desmond Fancey and Sergeant Jock Strap, are tasked with hunting down Dick Turpin. Their investigation takes them to Upper Dencher, where they take the local vicar, Reverend Flasher, into their confidence. However, their job is not an easy one - they are thwarted at every turn by a collection of people, including Madame Desiree and her Birds of Paradise and Dick Turpin and his gang to name but a few. Can the Bow Street runners live up to their expectations and rid the local populace of the blight of Dick Turpin? Or will they fall flat on their faces and lose the respect...

Review of Carry On Dick (DVD)

Carry On Dick
Advantages: nice costumes
Disadvantages: dull & repetitive
...Carry On Dick was made in 1974 & was the last Carry On film for Sid James, who died on stage of a heart attack two years later.
Unfortunately, although it is a period piece & it looks great, with wonderful costumes again, it is a disappointing finale for one of Carry On's greatest stars.
Based on the legend of highwayman, Dick Turpin, Sid stars in the lead role, also as the Reverend Flasher. It is all seeming to be an increasingly familiar scenario, as Sid (then aged 60) plays the lecherous old man, lusting after Barbara Windsor (37). It appears a bit silly by now, despite art imitating reality in the way it did.
Although it has its shining moments as all the films do, Carry On Dick is a lacklustre offer in my opinion. Even Bernard Bresslaw is irritating in this one, with an annoying accent....
