McVities Milk chocolate digestive biscuits

Advantages: A superb chocolate biscuit
Disadvantages: too many arent good for the figure!

...This week Sainsbury`s have McVities chocolate digestives on offer, a whacking 50% reduction. The biscuits have a good sell by date on them so I stocked up and bought four packets. If they had been on the shelf at full price I would have more than likely considered buying their own brand or even buying the Sainsburys Basic range chocolate digestive. Admittedly the own brand and basic range don`t have the refined almost `syrupy` taste of McVities but when the chips are downits beetr to keep a tight rein on the weekly shopping budget. McVities is a brand owned by United biscuits, McVitie and Price were originally Scottish biscuit makers and started baking their delicious biscuits in the early 1800`s in the city of Edinburgh. Choc Digestive Smart Price biscuits...Yuk.

Advantages: Smart Price 27p
Disadvantages: Not very chocolaty, very hard and crunchy. Don't like. Not nice.

... Asda Smart Price Milk Choc Digestives.... Spotted these cruising down the biscuit isle at asda - as cheap as - at 27p so in the trolley they went, we already buy some of the other Smart Price Stuff including some of the biscuits so thought these would do the job. So my 27p got me 300g worth of biscuits about 20 of them I'd guess, on went the kettle and out with them. The packaging is standard no frills white and green 'Smart-Price' plastic, does the job with no excess packaging. Pack states "Produced in the Uk For Asda Stores Ltd" I won't bore you with ALL the ingrediants and labeling etc ...But: Fat is 2.9g and Sodium (Equiv. as Salt) is 0.2g per Biscuit. Like eating cardboard (Tesco Reduced Fat Chocolate Digestive)

Disadvantages: Taste awful and are not much better for you

...Recently my other half has decided he wants to start eating a bit more healthy so long gone are the chocolate bars, crisps and sweets, the only problem is he likes to pick at food, the first thing he does when he comes home from work is look in the cupboards to see what he can eat. I suggested buying lots of fruit as this would be a healthy alternative to pick at when he gets home but that went down like a lead balloon (I think I was taking the healthy option a little too far lol). Sweet Milky Chocolate Biscuits

Despite trying to cut back on the amount of them I eat I still cannot resist a chocolate digestive when I see one that's why I bought McVities Milk Chocolate Homewheat Digestives. Now I'm sure that most people all know what a chocolate digestive is but for those of you who don't I shall explain. A digestive biscuit is rather different to other biscuits as it is made of wheat and has a sweet wheat taste that you just don't get in any of the others. The king of digestive biscuits

Advantages: Unparalleled taste and texture
Disadvantages: Impractical packaging

...These are quite simply the best digestive biscuits I've ever eaten, bar none. Opening the packet, a striking malty aroma confirms that these are going to be different. On biting you get a sugary tinge on the tongue, with a hint of caramel, probably from using less processed sugar. It's very slightly shortbread-like, although the biscuit achieves this without compromising the gritty wholegrain texture you'd expect from a digestive.
