Dig this!

Advantages: Good songs are amazing!
Disadvantages: Couple of weak links!

...I'm shocked to see that this album hasn't been reviewed yet, it's one of the best albums so far this year and keeps Nick Cave in good form following the side-project with Grinderman (No Pussy Blues) which it actually has quite a lot in common with as keeps generally with a garage style throughout. Dig Lazarus Dig is Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds 14th studio album and includes the line-up of 1 - Dig Lazarus Dig - The album, first song and hit single Dig, Lazarus, Dig takes its name from Lazarus who according to the story in the bible was brought up from the grave by Jesus. Nick Cave claims to have always wanted to know how Lazarus felt about this and this song shows the situation from Lazarus's point of view and also brings it to New York. Dig Lazarus Dig is a great song with quality lyrics and a superb hook line. 10/10 2...

...There are so many excellent picture books for small children in existence that there's no way you will ever discover them all! That is why I am always so pleased when we discover a really good one such as 'The Dog Who Could Dig!' It's written by Jonathan Long, who I don't think I have heard of before, and illustrated by the wonderful Korky Paul (who is the illustrator of the Winnie the Witch books). The book tells the delightful story of a dog called Digger who has buried his bone but cannot remember where. The only thing he can do is start digging and hope that he can find it but he is in for a few surprises. Unfortunately he never does find the bone but what he does manage to dig up causes much amusement for my two daughters!
