Canon IXUS 95 IS: The best amateur digital camera on the market

Advantages: Very high quality pictures for both print and web work.
Disadvantages: The bundled software that comes with it has a very Fisherprice feel about it.

...After reading many reviews on Amazon and amateur camera sites about the different types of hobbyist level digital cameras, I decided to buy one of these. The camera itself has a metal casing and so has a sleek feel and look to it. It's very light weight and compact making it very easy to carry around in a handbag or while, (and most importantly) taking pictures! I found that it took only 5 - 10 minutes to get the camera working from out of the box. It was so simple, I didn't take that much notice of the manual. ...I bought this camera from marks and spencers for £279.99. This camera is great due to all the features that it has. It has a great 12x optical zoom, which even at 9x or 10x zoom, the pictures look quite clear and well taken photos. It has a good image stabilisation feature which allows you to take photos even if the object of person is moving very fast. Its battery life is quite good compared to most ordinary cameras which allows you to take 250 photos on average. It is a 10.1 megapixel camera which has a very high number of pixels for each picture, and I can say this is definitely so when I upload my pictures onto my laptop as the pictures are VERY clear and they still look good when zoomed in by half the size of the picture....

...As a camera: The camera measures 56 x 38 x 19mm meaning that it is the perfect size on your key ring, it has 16MB built in memory which is room for 80 low-res pictures or 20 hi-res. The lo-res photos are very poor quality but reasonable when compared to the price. Hi-res has much better quality although not amaizng, but for price and size i think it is very reasonable. As a video: The camera can also take a short video clip by quick succesion of 80 low-res photos, how ever i found this feature not to be worth while, as the quality was very poor and the gaps between photos were too far leaving me with a very jumpy clip. As a webcam: Although the picture quality is reasonable on the web cam feature, I found that the camera was too ligt and so difficult to place on the top of my moniter with out the use of blu-tac. So glad to be back to a Canon!

Advantages: Small, tough, simple and fast to use

...and I am still pleased with my purchase. Summary I'm realling enjoying using the Canon and it lives in my pocket most of the time now, before my camera would always be in a jacket pocket or a bag somewhere. It's not the cheapest of compact digital cameras and I have no idea if it is significantly better than others, but it's a real improvement over previous cameras for me and it seems to suit my needs. Of course if you are going to do some serious photography then please read some information from somebody that knows about these things :-) (also posted on dooyoo)...

...This Precision Mini camera is a neat little gadget but that is really all it is these days. Measuring a mere 2.5 * 1.5 * .5 inches it fits easily into your shirt pocket. It can be purchased for various prices from £12.99 to £19.99 depending on where you shop. In High resolution mode it takes 20 pictures, whilst in Low resolution it takes 80 pictures. In Hi Res the pictures can best be described as adequate, the quality is ok but the seeing eye can pick up the minor flaws. My personal opinion is that the Lo Res mode is a waste of time the quality is just to poor to mention. I can take about 20 -30 secs of video, but there is no sound. The quality here is about the same as Hi Res mode so it's accepatable..................just. This is a USB device and as such is simple to install and operate. There are only 2 buttons on the camera...

...*Found you!* I had been looking for a good digital camera for ages, and then i saw the polaroid pdc 3030. It was cheap, small and good quality, so i decided to buy it from argos. Argos was doing a great deal: The camera, a small pouch for the camera, and a 64mb memory card for just under £100. So overall it saved me quite alot. *When it arrived!* I opened the box it had came in, and looked to see that it come with 4 AAA batteries, a pad of instructions, a software cd, a wrist strap and a USB cable.
