Canon Digital IXUS 80 IS -nice little camera

...I am not an expert on digital cameras and this is just the second one I bought. So I cannot really compare the Ixus 80 with other cameras. Nevertheless, I really like it. Looks The Lxus 80 comes in Classic Silver, Caramel, Chocolate and Candy Pink in an aluminium body. It is small enough to fit in a pocket and can be tacken anywhere with no problems. As far as I can say it is very reliable and does brilliant pictures for a normal user. Features It works with 8 megapixels .The 3x zoom works for all the general snapshot moments. It comes with an Image Stabilization (IS moniker) to reduce camera shake. As far as I know this is not standard on all cameras yet, but becomes more normal in newer models. The lens is glass, so it?s definitely an advantage towards cameras with a plastic lens. You can certainly see that in the quality...

...I bought this camera from marks and spencers for £279.99. This camera is great due to all the features that it has. It has a great 12x optical zoom, which even at 9x or 10x zoom, the pictures look quite clear and well taken photos. It has a good image stabilisation feature which allows you to take photos even if the object of person is moving very fast. Its battery life is quite good compared to most ordinary cameras which allows you to take 250 photos on average. It is a 10.1 megapixel camera which has a very high number of pixels for each picture, and I can say this is definitely so when I upload my pictures onto my laptop as the pictures are VERY clear and they still look good when zoomed in by half the size of the picture....

Canon IXUS 95 IS: The best amateur digital camera on the market

Advantages: Very high quality pictures for both print and web work.
Disadvantages: The bundled software that comes with it has a very Fisherprice feel about it.

...After reading many reviews on Amazon and amateur camera sites about the different types of hobbyist level digital cameras, I decided to buy one of these. The camera itself has a metal casing and so has a sleek feel and look to it. It's very light weight and compact making it very easy to carry around in a handbag or while, (and most importantly) taking pictures! I found that it took only 5 - 10 minutes to get the camera working from out of the box. It was so simple, I didn't take that much notice of the manual. When starting up the camera, it isn't slow like they digital cameras of yesteryear. Its ability to capture anything in an instant is one of it's many advantages. The photos it and you produce are very high quality, as I found out the other day when I had some printed off at home. The only downside is the bundled software...

easy to use, compact, robust digital video camera

Disadvantages: makes beeps and whirrs when turned on.

...We bought our panasonic video camera, which takes mini dv cassettes, when we knew we were expecting our daughter to capture all her firsts. The camera has lived up to Panasonics good reputation and takes very clear video with excellent sound with good clarity of both audio and visual. The twisting lcd viewing screen is a brilliant feature too, especially for videoing my daughter as you are able to shoot film without holding the camera to your face, so you can interact with her as normal and she's not put off by the camera. It has got 500x digital zoom, which is excellent for taking natural footage of your loved ones while they are playing in the sea, or down the bottom of the garden etc! The camera takes a 7.2v battery, which lasts quite well. The only problem is you have to remember to turn the camera completely off...

...easy to transfer pictures to the computer, and edit them once they're there. The menus aren't too difficult to learn, and like all new equipment, the more you use it the easier it becomes. Deleting pictures from the camera is fairly simple and there is a facility to reformat the memory card. Beware, if you use format whilst there are pictures on the card they will be wiped out. Flash photography can be simply a case of leaving the auto flash enabled, and let the camera determine if flash is needed, alternatively you can opt to have a manual setting, where you determine if you want flash used or not. Web Cam ++++++++ Due to it's video function, the camera can be used as a web-cam. Again I've never used it as this, but I didn't buy it for that function. Advantages: Small, tough, simple and fast to use
Disadvantages: A little expensive

...leave the flash switched on with my Samsung as it seemed to use it when it wasn't required at all. The Canon seems to produce a nice sharp image in most indoor situations without resorting to using the flash, giving a more natural image. It will use it when needed though. The optical zoom is 3x, not a particularly high number, quite standard on compact cameras. There's a little dial around the button to take a photo, an intuitive place to put it in my opinion. If you're looking to produce some videos for youtube then it does produce high defintion video, but without the optical zoom. You can achieve playback directly to your TV via the HDMI connector on the camera, first time I've seen that feature and a great idea I think. I've been using a 4GB SDHC card in the camera and the photo write speed is very good. What really impressed me...
