...I bought this camera from marks and spencers for £279.99. This camera is great due to all the features that it has. It has a great 12x optical zoom, which even at 9x or 10x zoom, the pictures look quite clear and well taken photos. It has a good image stabilisation feature which allows you to take photos even if the object of person is moving very fast. Its battery life is quite good compared to most ordinary cameras which allows you to take 250 photos on average. It is a 10.1 megapixel camera which has a very high number of pixels for each picture, and I can say this is definitely so when I upload my pictures onto my laptop as the pictures are VERY clear and they still look good when zoomed in by half the size of the picture....

It`s true, there is no competition in the sub-£500 digital camera market for a model with the equivalent of a 570mm zoom. What`s even more amazing is that I managed to pick mine up for just £269 brand spanking new. The full zoom option is only available in VGA resolution mode, the lowest available, and this is perfectly reasonable for website publishing. Even in high-resolution (2 megapixel - the highest) mode, you still have access to the 6x optical zoom, which equates to approximately 228mm. In between you also have access to the 2x digital zoom. At 1 megapixel resolution, when combined with the optical zoom, it can achieve a maximum zoom equivalence...

So glad to be back to a Canon!

Advantages: Small, tough, simple and fast to use
Disadvantages: A little expensive

...leave the flash switched on with my Samsung as it seemed to use it when it wasn't required at all. The Canon seems to produce a nice sharp image in most indoor situations without resorting to using the flash, giving a more natural image. It will use it when needed though. The optical zoom is 3x, not a particularly high number, quite standard on compact cameras. There's a little dial around the button to take a photo, an intuitive place to put it in my opinion. If you're looking to produce some videos for youtube then it does produce high defintion video, but without the optical zoom. You can achieve playback directly to your TV via the HDMI connector on the camera, first time I've seen that feature and a great idea I think. I've been using a 4GB SDHC card in the camera and the photo write speed is very good. What really impressed me...

...I have been using the Fuji Finepix for about 2 years now having taken thousands of photos during that time so the following is based on substantial experience of using this camera. When purchased this camera was supplied with nothing more than the camera, some standard batteries, a 16mb memory card, a strap, lens cover and manual as well as leads to connect to a pc and some software for the PC. As most people tend to do I immediately set up the camera and took some photos. On standard settings the 16mb memory card held about 15 photos. Not much use. Fortunately I had a 64mb card thrown in by the store so I was able to take another 40 or so but still not many. For this reason if you buy this camera I would suggest you also buy a 1gb compact flash card which will work in the slot designed for microdrives. I can fit over 600...
