A good thermometer for all the family if used properly

Advantages: Quick to use and accurate if used correctly
Disadvantages: can give false readings if not done properly expensive to buy and cost of covers

You then also tend to keep an eye on it in case of horrid things like febrile convulsions. I bought this thermometer prior to my son being born. A very accurate Thermometer

Advantages: Easy to use and very accurate
Disadvantages: none

.... She was kept in over night. After being discharged, my husband stayed with her and I shot off to Boots to buy the Calpol Digital Ear Thermometer. We then kept a check on her temperature throughout the rest the day. It shot back up to over 40 degrees so we took her back into hospital, where the nurses said it was a good job we had taken her back, if her temperature had gone up much more she would again be in danger of having another seizure. She now seems to be recovering well, running about and causing havoc, never again will I tell her to sit down a be quite. It's Time To Switch To Digital

Advantages: Easy To Use, Accurate Readings
Disadvantages: Difficult to set up and cannot be switched off

...I'm not altogether convinced that home thermometers serve any real purpose for us parents apart from peace of mind. I was in two minds for so long about whether to buy one or not, but when I saw this Nurofen Digital Ear Thermometer reduced to £10 in my local pharmacy I just decided to buy it. The reason I have been toying with the idea of buying one for a while is because my youngest was ill for most of last winter with frequent high temperatures and other ailments, so I would be in and out of the Doctors every few weeks, and most of the time I was coming away with paracetamol and the advice to give her plenty of fluids and rest.
