...Bose SoundDock Digital Music System I happened to get this as a gift and it turned out to be quiet interesting Summary: This dock is used mainly for ipod and allows you to connet mp3 players to it and listen to high quality music via speakers. It is idle for homes and small gatherings, although I would not run a party off these. Pros: This system has terrific sound and can go very load despite its relative small size. As with almost all Bose speakers the quality is amazing, so long as the source you are playing it from is high quality it will allow the speakers to each its potential. I have a surround sound Bose set up in one of my rooms but now prefer to use this product as it is very simple to operate. Just plug the mp3 player in and press play and your set. Can't get much simpler. It also runs off a wall...

Virgin Media - Getting better...

Advantages: Basic sky channels are back!, Some good VOD content, good unlimited internet packages
Disadvantages: VOD reliability not 100%, webmail reliability & mailbox size, customer service rather 'hit or miss'

...believe wasn't so good and it was one of those pretty pained phone calls my mum could have done without but we got it fixed in the end and other times if you phone, you get someone in the UK and you can get ok responses, its a bit 'hit or miss') **Edit 22/10/08:- Ok im editing this review as I want to add more about the Virgin webmail/email service, see the 4th bottom paragraph about that for the updated information** I must say it feels like alot has changed with this cable provider over the last year and its not for the better. ...Virgin have gone down in my expectations and i am currently thinking of leaving them. When i first joined virgin media it was called telewest, i signed up to a large tv package and the internet at a cost of 40 pounds per month. This worked fine untill virgin media took over, Although they did bring better and more chanels to the table the prices went up and the customer service went down. When virgin took over they rang me to say i would be better off if i got the whole package which included xl tv, 20gb broadband and a phone line with free weekend calls as it would take my bill down to 35 pound a month, i also pay for disney cinemagic aswell so it would basically be taking 5 pound off my bill which i thought was fair enough. Since then the bill has went up and up and up! I still have the same package to which i had 4 years...

...Since i started with Virgin Media I had nothing but problems, thankfully everything is all sorted now and touch wood i won't have to speak to them again, however the first problem i had was my landline. I went to use the phone one day and basically i had no dial tone... i rang customer services and it stated on a automated message that if you were experience problems in the ST3 area, the engineers were aware of it and were working to rectify the problem. I thought nothing of it and assumed that my line would be working pretty soon. Disadvantages: System errors and downtimes can happen from time to time, may have to monitor your account regular

.... Warning: When calling some of their hotlines, you may be charged for the call. If the numebrs are 0845 or 0870 - check my recent review of saynoto0870 where you can convert these premium numbers to landline numbers. It is worth doing this early on, as you may end up needing to call support at least once every couple of weeks during a bad time. All-in-all, Virgin Media are a decent company to choose. But have caution when dealing with their representatives and make sure you monitor your services and accounts from time to time to make sure you have not been charged for something that was caused by an error in their system. If you are looking for a package for telephone, broadband, digital television and mobile phones you won't find another company who can handle them all in a bundle, with decent savings to be made on all combined. SlingMedia's SlingBox SB150-120

Advantages: "Free" TV from the other side of the world... where-ever you are!
Disadvantages: Really none I can think of that concern the device itself

...This review is actually based on my use of the Japanese version of this product, SlingMedia's Sling Box SB150-120. The UK model is the SB150-110, and as far as I have been able to establish (from friends actually using it on my advice), the UK model differs from the Japanese model only in respect of the TV Tuner. The UK Model * I am told * features a TV Tuner that is DVB/FreeView capable (which would not work in Japan anyway) and is of course based on the PAL TV system (whereas Japan's model uses NTSC like America). The device itself is smaller than you may expect, and most definitely ugly, but you can't really hold that against it, particularly when there is no reason why it has to be on view (there are no IR remote sensors on the front, for example). Advantages: 3-in-1 bill, fairly reliable, not too pricey
Disadvantages: Sluggish interactive, fewer channels than Sky.

...I have been with Virgin Media ever since they took over from NTL. We didn't notice any major differences in the transition from one to the other. We upgraded our Broadband from 1-3MB which required a modem as the old set top box could not suport any more than the 1MB we intially started with. As we were previously with NTL, this is the only thing that Virgin Media have set up for us, and it was a flawless, hassle free and tidy job that they performed. Having been with them "from the start" (not counting the time with NTL) I can safely say I have only experienced loss of service on three small seperate occasions. Once was when we lost the sports channels during a Cricket Test Match England were playing in, the internet has gone off for maintainence once, and the third was when some, not all channels were unavailable for an hour...
