...on a visit to my mother recently, i noticed she had a new stove in the fireplace. I had to give it a closer inspection to realise it was actually an electric fire. Having always wanted a 'real' fire, but not having a chimney in my appartment, i was very impressed with just how realistic the flame effect was on this unit. Of course when you take a close look, you can tell it is not a real cast iron stove, but it certainly gives that real fire feeling to a room, even without the heater element switched on. I saw one on offer at a local DIY store, and so i bought one for myself based on what i had seen of my mothers. The constuction is of a plastic coated sheet steel, which does a reasonable job of imitating Black cast iron finish, but it wont maintain its illusion on any close examination. WARM UP WITH DIMPLEX

Advantages: : PRODUCES GOOD AMOUNT OF HEAT.
Disadvantages: TAKES TIME BEFORE HEATING.

...Normally use this during winter. Well now, I use it less often because of this summer period. Dimplex is a nice heater that gives specific amount of heat that suites your body. Well I use this mostly at nights because in the daytime, I tend to be at work so there won?t be that time to make use of it. I got this about a year ago but I got astonished when I went through the page and realized that none of the heaters has been rated. It took me about one month before installing it. Even the installation cost so I had to exercise some patience. Since I got this, I have not been experiencing difficulty with cold especially while at sleep. Dimplex convection heater with turbo fan

Advantages: Turbo Fan, secure wall mounting, switchable turbo fan
Disadvantages: Mechanical thermostat with turbo fan can be attention grabbing!

...One of the many heaters I tried was this Dimplex free standing/wall mounted convection heater with Fan Boost. I decided to try this after a returning my 4th failed Bionaire BCV3100 heater. The wall mounting arrangement was very affective in securely locking the heater to the wall using 3 simple hooks. The unit is very light weight. There are 2 switches on the side. A power On/Off switch and below that a Hi/Low switch. Below the switches there is a mechanical thermostat to further regulate the heater. On the front of the heater integrated into the turbo fan grill there is a switch to turn the turbo fan on or off. A nice feature is on a hot day you can run the turbo fan without any heat, this provides a cool draft from the heater although it is not as affective as a desktop fan though. Disappointed with problems with Dimplex Elda

Disadvantages: had quite a few faults, online fire shop was very poor

...Bought this Dimplex Elda for £150 from www.direct-fireplaces.com. It does look nice, am impressed with the fake glowing fire effect. Also it's really easy to install - you really do just plug it in. However, there have been problems, to say the least. On the first fire we were given, the fan didn't work so it kept cutting out. We then got another one delivered and the spacer was all dented so my husband had to get the bus all the way to the shop in Stockport and swap it. I've since noticed a big scratch all along the bottom but I really can't face having to deal with the shop again as they weren't very helpful at all. When I bought this fire they took my £150 twice - right before Christmas so I was NOT happy! I was assured the money had been refunded. And Christmas came and went and we still didn't have our money back. In total...

Dimplex Burlington, to take away the 'BRRRRS'

...When i decided i wanted a fireplace, without the hassel of making a hole in my chimney wall, or get the chimney swept, i knew i had found the perfect fireplace in this here Dimplex Burlington. It fits flat against any wall, so you dont need a chimney breast or a hole, just a plug socket (and the ability to cut away the coving where you want it lay flush against the wall). Advantages: A fine work by the Deathstars
Disadvantages: Perhaps a little formulaic

...it's quite slow in tempo, but it's certainly got me trying to move in time as I listen. It glides along to a faster finish. A most satisfying start to the album. 7/10 2. "Night Electric Night" The second song is faster in tempo, although does alternate between faster and slower sections building up to a fast finish, which is something I demand and appreciate from the Deathstars. I love the finish of this. It also satisfies and makes me chair-dance. 7/10 3. "Death Dies Hard" I will deny you This world belongs to me This is apparently the first single from the album. It seems a pretty solid choice. To me, it feels like a James Bond theme, and the title certainly sounds Bond-ish. I like it. The keyboards remind me of a-ha, too. Is the future electric?

Advantages: Zero emissions, quiet running, climate friendly, cheap to run
Disadvantages: Limited range, few power points, expensive to buy

...The British government recently announced that from 2011 they would contribute up to £5000 towards purchasing one of the new generation of electric vehicles that will become available. Is this a generous offer from a proactive government serious about climate change or a move from a desperate bunch of politicians? On face value it looks quite good but there are numerous questions that have been unanswered & throw doubt on their offer. They chose an unusual time to announce it, two days before a rather grim budget; surely it would have made more impact on budget day. Cynics would say they chose two days before the budget to divert attention away from the Damien Green nasty emails affair & the constant press attention to MP?s expenses. I have little time or respect for modern day politicians & tend to agree with the latter assumption...

Disadvantages: You'll want to stay in bed all day!

...with a single click the provided power adapter and plug to the inobtrusive socket at the side of the blanket - which is well out of the way of the sleeping area of the bed. The cable is quite long and would reach a power point in the wall directly behind the bed with no problems. The fleecy feel of the blanket is pleasant, but those with sensitive skin like me will probably find it best to put a normal fitted bottom sheet over the electric blanket for total comfort. Operational functions: Once the blanket is fitted according to the booklet it only took a couple of minutes to figure out the operating instructions. The control switch is situated in an easy to grip plastic console about 30cms away from the connection to the blanket. A HUGE advantage as it means you can just reach one sleepy arm out of bed, grab the console and switch on...

Cheap, effective and reliable

Advantages: Cheap, Reliable, Instant heat, Economical.
Disadvantages: Thermostat clicking on and off that you soon get used to.

Unlike oil filled radiators which you have to wait for the heater to warm up before it starts warming the room when you goto bed its still giving out heat after you have switched it off which your not benefitting from. Generally people use oil filled radiators on a timer or leave it on low meaning there is less control over what rooms you heat and for how long be the rooms occupied or not. The Dimplex 3072 is fast, very responsive, reliable, a very good price, controllable and safe. I hope this review helps....
