...When I first heard of BBC show, 'Young Dumb and Living off Mum', I wasn't sure what to expect. It sounded a little like any other BBC3 show they shove on to fill a gap when they're running out of Little Britain repeats to show. Though it did sound quite interesting nonetheless so I decided to check it out. 'Plot': In a way, the show is a little like Big Brother. Eight people, all aged between 17-25, and put into one house and are set daily tasks, however in this case they are actually allowed to leave the house! The greatest similarity with Big Brother is that all the 'contestants' are not at all human on this show either! Advantages: Great horror film with a brilliant plot and twist
Disadvantages: Torturous violence will deter some people

There is good support from Dina Meyer as Kerry, and Danny Glover stands out as Detective David Tapp, on the search for Jigsaw's lair. Ken Leung plays Detective Steven Sing. My Opinion This film had me transfixed from start to finish. There is a kind of knock on effect throughout the whole film, and I was left feeling that the whole concept had been so thoroughly thought out that it could not have been more complicated. Maeve Binchy meets Roddy Doyle in heartwarming story

Advantages: Heartwarming Irish novel, well-written
Disadvantages: Second half rather disappointing

..., a lovable figure, and the cast of other memorable characters , most notably her mentor Sister Rosaleen, elderly thwarted lovers Cap Coyle and Dina, and in a darker way her husband Tommo. Sheridan's own background in the Abbey Theatre, and as a Dublin man who clearly adores the place, adds a touch of history, arts and politics to the brew. And, for most of the book's 300 or so pages, it is a captivating read. The best bits are early on during Philo's stay at the convent- and her capers at its Day Centre for the elderly. Really heartwarming and hilarious stuff recognisable to anyone with Irish roots. But as the book progreses, it becomes more and more surreal and formulaic and in the end, sinks towards somewhat mawkish melodrama. . ...Dina Carroll remains one of my favourite female vocalists of the last two decades. She has a highly distinctive voice that is as powerful as it is soulful, and from the outset I have been captivated by just about any recording she makes. Lots of rich and famous people stayed here

...and paid a few Dina for entrance. We paid to have a cup of tea in the house we got tickets for these. We walked along the garden paths. Very early in the season so no flowers really. I could tell the gardeners were preparing to tidy up after the winter as there was an area that had a few trees in pots ready for planting. In fact the gardens were a little wild really (that suits me prefer a wilder garden) in fact it looked as if it did need a little maintenance. We found an amphitheatre where there are concerts in the summer. I felt this would be a good music venue, a good place for plays maybe. I found an area of the gardens with a few seats and a kiosk (not open I imagine in summer they sols snacks and drinks) We only saw one other group of 4 people wandering around the grounds it was very quiet. ...I didn't like this book. I struggled to finish it. It's awful. Steve and Dina are friends who work together. Steve loves Dina but doesn't have the courage to tell her, and then, on the night of his birthday, he drowns and wakes up the next morning as a ghost. He then spends his afterlife watching her as she starts a relationship with a cad, and eventually, is able to communicate with her. This book doesn't know what it wants to be; it appears to be two stories which could have been goodish shoehorned into one book - there's the chicklit romance of the dead guy still in love with the alive woman who's going out with the cad, and there's some stuff which could be comedy about being a ghost and having a mate who's a ghost and going to the zoo with the ghost and shouting at him and people thinking you're mad for shouting at someone who...

...My first visit to Llangollen was as a child during an educational primary school holiday. We were boarded in a youth hostel and taken to see the sights and to take part in various activities. My husband and I have since visited on a number of occasions, most recently with our baby son and it certainly makes for a relaxing family daytrip.
