Posh and civilized - unlike me!

Advantages: Lovely food, fantastic staff, private party area
Disadvantages: Very very hot at one point

...err on the side of quality rather than quantity. However, it did mean that we were all able to find room for the desserts - something I often find I can't manage because the other courses have filled me up. The drinks We were offered a choice of red or white wine with the meal, as well as sparkling and still water. Glasses were kept topped up without having to ask for a refill, which made it a little difficult to keep up with how much we were drinking; needless to say, it was quite a lot during the course of the evening. The wine was very nice - I think the red wine was Argentinian and I really enjoyed it. There is a full list of drinks for individual diners and a well-stocked bar, but obviously being part of a party, we didn't look at it in any great detail. Disadvantages: Annoying people, greed, adverts (because it's on channel4)

...Hosting a dinner party is my idea of hell. However I?m more than happy to watch other people going through that ?hell?. That?s why the Channel 4 programme ?Come Dine with Me? is a hit in my eyes. Come Dine with Me is currently on its 8th series. This is how it works: Four or five strangers compete to win £1,000 over a week. They must host a three course meal, dinner party and the other guests will score their evening out of ten in secret. The last person to host entertain will reveal who has won the £1,000 at the end of the evening. You?ll find some people score other people low to increase their own chances of winning. I find this incredibly rude and greedy but at least they?re not ashamed to show their true colours I suppose. I wouldn?t want to be them after the programme is broadcasted though. ...I would just like to write a review on Come Dine With Me, a reality TV show that is shown on Channel Four at around five o'clock in the afternoon along with regular repeats on E4. So what is the idea behind the show? Well, four or five people who don't know one another but all come from the same area/ town take it in turns to cook a three course meal for the others in the group who are their guests for the evening. Although they are meant to ideally cook the meal from scratch, there is nothing to stop them from buying the food in already made so as all they have to do is to reheat it. But the only item in theh rules that stops them from cheating, is that they are not really allowed o get any help from another person (also some of them do!). Dining in the 'haunted' room?

Disadvantages: Fixed menu which rarely varies

...- this seems to work well and keep the flow of customers under control. Once you have chosen your food you receive a numbered wooden spoon which is colour coded in relation to the area where you are sitting thus ensuring that your food arrives in the right place as soon as it is ready. The staff are happy to set up a bar 'tab' and charge everything to that which is great when you are there for a business lunch as it saves having lots of separate receipts. In one area of the bar there is a little alcove/room which it is alleged may be haunted - I have to say I haven't ever seen the ghost but I do like to eat in there as it is quite pleasant and because it is just off the main bar eating area it is great if you have a small group of five or six people. The atmosphere is quite relaxed but the staff are generally very efficient...

...Come Dine With Me is a TV show on Channel 4. The basis of the show is in the name really! Five people get together, each hosting their own dinner party for the other four, and they get rated out of 10 by that four for their food quality and host etiquette. Yes, it is a reality TV show. But it's probably the classiest one there is. None of the contestants are ever professional cooks, and aside from the lazy few who get professional help or buy their meals pre-cooked, they do have to do it all alone. Each has to cook a three course meal for their guests, and quite often there will be someone with specialist food requirements, such as vegetarian, vegen, etc. The last show I watched, one women couldn't eat fish, and this was not taken into account at the final meal, and fish was the main course. So, what would you cook? Come dine with me

Advantages: Highly addictive viewing, some nice recipes and very amusing narrator!
Disadvantages: kiss your weekends goodbye if you are watching the re-runs!

...Over the past couple of months I have become a little obsessed with this show, it can easily take up far too many hours of my Saturday or Sunday watching re-runs ? I become engrossed and out goes any ideas I may have had of actually doing something productive those days! At first I dismissed it as just another annoying reality show I couldn?t be bothered to watch, I have no time for big brother and although I used to be quite a fan of wife swap and how clean is your house etc, I quickly tired of them finding them too repetitive.
