Sublime and groovy Dionne Warwick
Advantages: VFM 22 whole tracks
Disadvantages: none
...Dionne Warwick sings the Bacharach and David songbook. I came across this CD in the sale recently and bought it because a lot of Dionne’s songs have been featuring in films recently and it’s expensive to keep on buying film soundtracks (and often disappointing to find so many filer tracks). Anyway to my surprise the CD was only £2.99 and has whole 22 tracks – wow. Let me give you the full list because I couldn’t believe that Virgin (MCCD 169) were selling this fine CD so cheaply:
1. Do you know the way to San Jose
2. What the world needs now is love
3. Alfie
4. Message to Michael
5. I just don’t know what to do with myself
6. I say a little prayer
7. You’ll never go to heaven
8. Anyone who had a heart
9. I’ll never fall in love again
10. Walk on buy (my favourite – Run)
11...

Wonderful Warwick Castle
Advantages: Wonderful day out
Disadvantages: Steep prices, some accessibility issues
...** A QUICK HISTORY LESSON **
The origins of Warwick Castle date as far back as the year 914, when the daughter of Alexander the Great ordered the building of an earthen rampart to protect the hilltop town of Warwick from the invading Danish.
It has been visited by the like of Queen Elizabeth I, King William III and Queen Victoria to name but a few.
** WHERE **
Warwick Castle is located in (funnily enough) Warwickshire, in the picturesque town of Warwick. My other half did actually check that this was so as he said he knew that sometimes places (like Leeds Castle) are not where you might assume they should be.
I would advise that you use a route planner to find them as I can never follow directions very well and my geography is rubbish, at least with websites like www.routemap.com or www.theaa.co.uk you get a map along...

Warwick is the best
Advantages: its the 5th best uni at the moment
Disadvantages: Its in Coventry.
...Ive just graduated from Warwick in July 2003 after completing a degree in Sociology. There is a lot of competition for places at Warwick and it seems as though everyone you meet applied for Oxford or Cambridge and didnt get in.
I wasn't one of them people however but I was so pleased to be offered a place there. There are roughly 16,000 students there but it really doesn't seem like it. Warwick also has the reputation for one of the biggest campuses in Europe.
I started in October 2000 and this uni starts a bit later than most and every academic year finishes at the end of June. Holidays are great, for Christmas we normally get a month off and for Easter it is normally 5 weeks of holidays. There are three terms a year, which are broken up into ten weeks so it makes it really easy to manage stuff in this time as you can time...

Warwick Castle & new 'Ghosts Alive' attraction
Advantages: Something for all the family
Disadvantages: a little expensive
...We wanted something to do on Easter Sunday.I had seen an advert in the local press and on the internet for the new scary attraction at Warwick Castle. Being a lover of creepy things I suggested to the family that we give it a go.
The advertising had obviously worked as we queued for 45 mins to get into the car park and a further 20 mins to buy tickets. The place was absolutely heaving. Not a very good start to what eventually turned out to be a fantastic day. Bearing in mind it was a bank holiday and the cars parks were full, once inside the crowds seemed to disperse to all area's and did not seem overcrowded.
The castle itself is very impressive, teaming with history and wonderful stories. Helped along by an array of employees in costume - guards, jesters, musicians, peasants & gentry. All playing their parts very well and keen...

Warwick Castle and Stratford upon Avon
Advantages: So many!
Disadvantages: Expensive
...at the river you can understand why. I would also love to tell you that I've been to the Shakespeare theatre but I have to disappoint you again. I will definitely go the next time I am in Stratford upon Avon and I already had a look at prices and which plays are on at the moment. Go to www.rsc.co.uk to find out yourself.
We only stayed for two days and it was too short. On our way home we stopped at Warwick castle because my aunt recommended it. The entry price was horrendous (about 14 Pounds per person). So in utter shock I entered the castle and it was breathtaking. We booked a ghost-experience but before that we had time to queue for the chamber of torture. There was a huge queue and the actual inside of it was rather disappointing. While you are waiting you are entertained by men showing either weapons that were used a long time ago or simply...

Warwick Uni - a guide
Advantages: Too many too mention
Disadvantages: Very few in my opinion
...I thought, considering many people will soon either be heading to Warwick Uni, or seriously starting to look around for a years time, i would give a guide to the life you can expect when/if you join me there.
Firstly, Warwick University is located just outside Coventry, and strangely enough, about a 30 minute drive away from Warwick.
It is very central, think Birmingham and you would not be far off.
I wont bore you with any of the academic statistics, as there are far too many and most are easily accesible from other sources (ie the Warwick Uni website).
One important figure is that the university has a student population of around 18,000, so you are in quite some gathering of intellectuals.
Firstly, the most important building in terms of social life, the Student's Union.
This is exactly what it says, it is run by students...

Warwick....where you can live out the past!
Advantages: Graet day out...even for the kids, lots to do,polenty to see.
Disadvantages: Situated in the Midlands means it can be hard to get to...and traffic is ususally a problem.
...Warwick Castle in the midlands makes a great day trip.
Once at Warwick get a pub meal and go back in time at Warwick Castle, pick up a headset with a taped tour to guide you through the history and legends. The 'Kingmaker' exhibit gives a broad background on the castle from its construction in 1068 through the era of the Wars of the Roses where King Henry VII (father of the oft-married Henry VIII) gained the crown and leads the castle curious onto the frivolous nineteenth century.
The Great Hall is the largest and most imposing room, imagine the residents walking the halls bedecked in the armor now hung on each wall. Oliver Cromwell's helmet is displayed at Warwick. If you can make it up the stone steps to the ramparts there are wonderful views of the grounds and landscaping by 'Capability' Brown or survey these grounds from the tea...

A RIGHT ROYAL RIP OFF
Advantages: Nice scenery on a sunny day, plenty of picnic areas & easy to get to
Disadvantages: Too expensive, you have to pay cash for everything & the entertainment is poor
...We live quite near to Warwick Castle and for years have been picking up these 2 for 1 voucher but have never put them to good use. This year my boyfriend and me have been venturing out on a few day trips and decided last Saturday, as the weather was to be good we would go to Warwick Castle.
HOW TO GET THERE
We live in Leicestershire so we used the M1 and M69 I think the most direct route is if you use the M40 and depart at junction 15 which brings you around 2 miles away. Warwick Castle is quite well sign posted. You will know when your getting near as there is quite a lot of traffic. You drive through some really nice areas with some lovely looking shops its all very much like Stratford Upon Avon, which is also very nearby. The route to the castle once you get into Warwick is easy but if you do use a sat nav the postcode to use is...

Warwick a lovely place to live or visit
Advantages: Quaint, compact and irresistable
Disadvantages: Too many tourists
...I have read a few opinions on warwick and just had to add my 2ps worth.
I have lived here for the last 18 mths and will be moving shortly to the neighbouring town of Leamington Spa. it is with not a little sorrow that I amd moving (bigger house needed).
This is the most beautiful place that I have lived-out of Hereford, Exeter, Portsmouth, Southsea, London etc. It is just so quaint and quintessentialy English.
I have visited the Caslle with and without my children and it is wonderful. Just recently I went with my 6yr old son to a special jousting evening held in the grounds. He loved it - Knights in armour charging around on horses, waving swords around, archery, falconry, buying groats to go on the simple games. Even the burgers were amazing. This cost £7 for me and £4 for him and it was one of the beest evenings I have ever...

A Steep Step For Man A Giant Leap For History
Advantages: history, voted most popular castle in the UK
Disadvantages: cold in the winter, steep steps, expensive
..."The origins of Warwick Castle can be traced back to the Saxon fortification which Ethelfleda, daughter of Alfred the Great, used to defend against the invading Danes. ? a wooden motte and bailey constructed in 1068 at the command of William the Conqueror. Throughout the Middle Ages, under successive Earls of Warwick, the castle was gradually rebuilt in stone. By the 14th century, it was a towering mediaeval fortress and the stronghold of the mighty Beauchamp Family. ? Attacked in 1264, besieged in 1642 and damaged by fire in 1871, the castle has nevertheless gloriously survived the ever-changing fortunes of history, and stands today as the most impressive of England's ancient fortresses. The castle was a home to the Earls of Warwick until 1978 when it was bought by the Tussauds Group. Since then extensive restoration work...
