Direct Line Insurance - Beyond the introductory offers
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...Great Intrductory rate, large discount and monthly payments for the first year with 0% yes 0% APR, been very helpful making sure that everything is in place, they sorted out my NCB discount from my previous insurance company. I am very happy, Recommended if you haven't used them before as they have a great deal on at the moment, best I could find for me, saved me at least a couple of hundred, though if they were not doing the introductory deal it would cost at least £500 more to go through them!
UPDATE since 2007
I have now been with them for 2 years and as expected the premiums have started to creep up (it seems gone are the days when premiums came down year on year)!!!
Although the premiums are creeping up they are still comparible to other companies in this field.
I haven't had to make a claim with this company (you would...

Direct Line Insurance services
Advantages: None at all
Disadvantages: Do you have all month??
...Direct line are the worst people to deal with ever!! I was involved in an accident last year, they constantly tried to get out of paying for the car to be repaired, over expensive and total waste of time, no resonable answers back from staff and all management are useless!!
They took a the loan car away from me too early, tried to charge me extra even thought the accident wasn't my fault, wouldn't make a start on the car being repaired, all in total my car was off the road for 9 weeks before I got it back, now thats not right huh??
they are slow with everything, and even though the accident wasn't my fault, they tried to stop a claim going throught because the mirrors on the car were still genuine parts, but just slightly smaller than standard, that took another two weeks to clear before the repair work started.
I even made...

A Good Deal, Better, from Direct Line
Advantages: Easy to so business with, good premiums, stable underwriting
Disadvantages: none
...Background
---------------
I have been insured with Direct Line for something like 14 years now, having defected to them when I worked for a very large well known broker, as even with staff discount, Direct Line's quote was cheaper! We currently have two cars, home insurance and life insurance with direct line, and I will ensure they quote us for pet insurance very soon. I have also taken out their one trip travel insurance on a couple of occasions. In fact that little red phone finds it way into my home every couple of months or so.
Back in the early 1990s Direct Line certainly revolutionised the way that insurance was bought and sold. Prior to that there were small brokers, and even large brokers, but the concept of doing insurance over the telephone was not great, and even for someone who gained CII qualifications, I remember...

Direct Line Insurance
Advantages: Very efficient, excellent competitiveness, good customer service and knowledge of service in which they give.
Disadvantages: None
...This year is the real first year of insuring myself fully comp on my car. I had phoned around many insurance companies for a quote and direct line offered me the best package. The second best package was with Norwich Union which offered me the same package but for about £15 more.
This is the first time I have been insured for the year as the first time I fell ill and could not drive due to injuries occured. That insurance company was very poor, but my mum is with Direct Line and so I thought I would give them a go. I have been driving since 1996, but on my mums insurance.
Due to this, I stated I have been driving for four years but have no no-claims bonus as the policy has not been in my name. Due to this, Direct Line gave me one years no-claims bonus for an introductory offer, and gave me a reduction in policy price.
I am only...

DIRECT LINE FOR CHEAP AND CHEERFUL INSURANCE
Advantages: REASONABLE RATES
Disadvantages: SOMETIMES SLOW ANSWERING SERVICE
...Prior to becoming an Internet user, I spent many an hour scouring adverts for telephone numbers of possible Insurance providers who seemingly were offering fantastic deals. Once through it would transpire that these deals were not all they were made out to be. Eventually I turned to Direct Line as my motoring insurance costs were escalating to ridiculous proportions. Within minutes they had undercut their rivals by quite a considerable amount. Because of this I made enquiries about their household insurance and again was favourably impressed by what they had to offer. I check other insurers' rates frequently but have yet to find any that have matched those offered by Direct Line. I have even had my dog insured - which turned out to be a wise move as it has saved me literally hundreds of pounds.
My only complaint is that because...

Direct cover
Advantages: cost, good cover
Disadvantages: previous experiences, see review
...Is everyone sitting comfortably? Then I?ll begin ?
I have always been a named driver on my mum?s insurance via Direct Line. Whilst on her insurance I managed a number of interesting manoeuvres and yet somehow 5 years later she still had a couple years no claims bonus! I bought my new (second-hand) car and then set about insuring it. After all the hundred of comparison adverts on the television I began my search there. I was 25 years old at the time and everywhere was quoting higher then my budget would allow or barely covered me for anything.
I was on the phone with my mum when she told me to call Direct Line for a quote as they?ve always been good to her. It did dawn on me that I hadn?t seen them on any of the compare websites. I had a look on their website and entered all my details. The quote was really good so I phoned...

Their Direct Line Was To Bully Me To Submission
Advantages: Good if your training for hostage situations
Disadvantages: I was treat like low life scum in my own home.
...rather large and very intimidating man turned up on my doorstep, I mean this guy looked like one of those big dodgy bouncers outside seedy nightclubs you would not want to meet him alone down a dark alley.
He was apparently sent out by and on behalf of Direct Line PLC; he explained he was a consultant and that he was to go over some abnormalities in my claim.
Ok I thought fair enough I mean my financial position was bad at the time this may have raised a few eyebrows of suspicion I could see it from their point of view and half expected to be asked a few hairy questions.
So he sat down in my front room and out came a Dictaphone, oh here we go I thought I could see where this was going and prepared myself for a grilling.
However nothing could prepare me for the sheer arrogance of this horrible obnoxious man, I mean he was asking some real...

Go directly to jail with Direct Line
Advantages: I'm not with them anymore
Disadvantages: They wouldn't know the truth if it jumped up and bit them on the ....
...Has anyone seen the Direct Line Insurance adverts? It makes it look so easy to make your claim, 'we repair both cars and deliver them back to you'. Thought you might all like to know about our current experiences with them.
A few months back my husband had a car accident, no one was injured and the other driver accepted responsibilty from the outset. Both drivers belong to Direct Line.
Sounds like an easy claim doesn't it? To make it even easier, the drivers know each other, and live near each other, so no one was about to change their story or suddenly invent a whilplash injury.
First - the accident - My husband was stationary at the time letting someone cross the road, he went to pull away and the other driver came out of a side road and hit him.
Does it sound to you like we should have encountered any problems? No, we...

Hassle free claiming with Direct Line
Advantages: Simple to set up & easy to make claims
Disadvantages: None!
...Introduction
=
I love my two Springer Spaniels so much that I would never compromise their health. They have both been insured since the day they came home as a puppy.
Before getting a policy I did shop around via the Internet because you want the best price and the best cover. I think I tried almost every company (at that time as they may be loads more now).
I couldn't seem to get the balance between good cover and reasonable cost. I love my dogs but I'm not made of money. Pet Insurance is the most likely policy you will claim on.
My partner already had a Direct Line policy for car insurance and breakdown cover and there website advertised that you could receive a discount if someone at your address had a policy. It didn't matter to Direct Line that the current policies were not in my name and I received a 10...

I insured my pussy.
Advantages: A great company to deal with.
Disadvantages: None.
...At the moment I do not have a pet of any sort but for a long time I had a cat, I got her when she was just a kitten and I adored her but like any animal including us humans, she got old and sadly passed away.
Keeping any animal can be costly and when they start to get old then it becomes a vey costly time with vet bills especially, that is why you should take out pet insurance and if I were you I would take it out with Direct Line.
When I took out my pet insurance with them I did so online and it could not have been easier, the website is very clear and simple to use and navigate. In order to avoid the dodgier people amongst us taking out a policy 24 hours or so before we know our animal is going to need an expensive trip to the vets, Direct Line have a 14 day waiting period after you take out your policy.
I took my policy...
