...Direct Travel Insurance - Avoid! My wife, Jill, was diagnosed with breast cancer on August 29, 2008. We had our holiday booked for September 8 so I asked Direct Travel Insurance for a claim form. The form arrived from AIG around September 3. AIG are the company Direct Travel Use to process their claims. It had four pages of A4. Three to be filled in by me and one by Jill's doctor. OK so far. After lot's of ink and £25 for the doctor, I returned the forms a couple of days later. The form signed by the doctor stated that Jill had a hospital appointment for the day we were due to fly. Despite this, AIG continued to turn awful into horror. After about three weeks a letter arrived from AIG asking for the tickets. RAC Insurance Direct

Advantages: very cheap, free breakdown cover
Disadvantages: dont always get the best quote off the website

...RAC is by far the cheapest insurace ive found. im18 and am in the second year with them as a named driver on my mums car. this year we paid a total of £520, thats for 2 adults with clean licences, one 18yr old male and one 19yr old girl both on provisional licences in a 1.8l petrol car which is 8yrs old. Norwich Union quoted various figures around £1700 and the lowest quotes were from tesco at around £1100. it wouldve cost my parents around £200 to insure the car for just them. the first year cost about the same. we paid annually but it is still a direct debit, so when they send the renewal you have to cancel if you wish to go else where. my dad has now insured his car with them aswell and got a second car discount and some cashback. we got a quote from confused.com but it was lower than the rac site quoted. my dad phoned them up...

...Direct line are the worst people to deal with ever!! I was involved in an accident last year, they constantly tried to get out of paying for the car to be repaired, over expensive and total waste of time, no resonable answers back from staff and all management are useless!! They took a the loan car away from me too early, tried to charge me extra even thought the accident wasn't my fault, wouldn't make a start on the car being repaired, all in total my car was off the road for 9 weeks before I got it back, now thats not right huh?? they are slow with everything, and even though the accident wasn't my fault, they tried to stop a claim going throught because the mirrors on the car were still genuine parts, but just slightly smaller than standard, that took another two weeks to clear before the repair work started. DIRECT LINE FOR CHEAP AND CHEERFUL INSURANCE

...Prior to becoming an Internet user, I spent many an hour scouring adverts for telephone numbers of possible Insurance providers who seemingly were offering fantastic deals. Once through it would transpire that these deals were not all they were made out to be. Eventually I turned to Direct Line as my motoring insurance costs were escalating to ridiculous proportions. Within minutes they had undercut their rivals by quite a considerable amount. Because of this I made enquiries about their household insurance and again was favourably impressed by what they had to offer. I check other insurers' rates frequently but have yet to find any that have matched those offered by Direct Line.
