Advantages: Cheap, does what it is supposed to!

...REVIEW OF TESCO BLEACH Household bleach or sodium hydrochloride, is a product we all know and have probably all used at some time or another. Bleach is one of those products that seems to have dropped out of fashion in recent years in favour of more environmentally friendly brands and fancier household cleaners. I am however rather old fashioned and do prefer to use bleach for a variety of household chores, as it is a versatile cleaner, whitener and germ killing fluid. In these days of financial crunch, I decided to shun the more expensive brand I usually purchase and tried Tesco's own brand of thin bleach. At 28p for 2 litres, it was almost £2 cheaper than my usual buy, a well known bleach which currently sells in Tesco for £2.21 for 2 litres! With this in mind, to be honest I didn't hold out much hope for the efficiency...

Bleach - the manga

Advantages: A great story with original characters

...This is the earliest volume of "Bleach" on ciao but rather than just review it I will give you a brief summary of volumes 1-13 and then give my thoughts on volume 14. Review of Bleach: v. 14 - Tite Kubo

A bleach that really works

Advantages: hasnt got that bleachy smell
Disadvantages: none

...the first thing you have to do is remove the safety cap. Although this is easily done by putting the bottle on a table, squeezing the grips on the caps and turning it in an anti clockwise direction, it is not easy for little childrens hands to do it so a good safety item. To replace the lid you must turn the lid till you hear a click. The bottle is easy to recognise. It is yellow with a red top. The top is shaped so that you can squirt under the rim easily. Next you squirt neat into the bowl and up to the rim of the toilet. As I said its a good idea to use this at night. In the morning just flush and you will be so surprised how spotless the bowl is. Admittedly when you first buy this it may take a night or two to get to that stage especially if your previous bleach wasnt doing such a good job. It has a pleasant smell as well...

Bleach 16

Advantages: Bleach is a great manga with awesome art
Disadvantages: I always feel a bit cheated on the price!

Review of Bleach: v. 16 - Tite Kubo

Bleach 15

Advantages: A great story and great art
Disadvantages: Too short for the money!

...The 15th volume from Tite Kubo's epic manga. The story picks up where it left off in the previous volume. The main character "Ichigo" spends most of the volume training to master a new power that will help him in his quest to save his friend Rukia. It does annoy me when the protagonist doesnt really do anything for a hundred or so pages but in Bleach it is different. There are many other battles going on through the story and the other characters are popular enough to maintain an interesting story. Ther is some great animation in this book. The battles seem to fly out of the page being wild and exadurated. Detail is retained however and it is a really impressive thing to see. I can only imagine how difficult it is to draw someone getting more powerful. This series centers around people gaining new levels of strength and speed...

Review of Bleach: v. 15 - Tite Kubo

Life's a bleach

Advantages: Easy to use
Disadvantages: None that I can think of

...I am a lazy cow when it comes to housework - I take the minimalist ethos and do what needs to be done and no more. I am however a bit anal about cleanliness being a nurse and love a bit of bleach to make me feel like those bugs are at bay. I used to stick thin bleach down the loo most days but a couple of months ago thought I would try a bleach block instead. I bought Jeye's Triple Action Parozone Bleach block (50g) for 68p in Wilkinson's - it probably does not come any cheaper than that. It is called triple action because: 1) it claims to kill germs 2) it claims to prevent limescale 3) it cleans and foams. I can verify that it foams. Germs, well the little blighters are usually microscopic so I presume that even if they were neuked I wouldn't know for sure unless I got a microscope under the ring. Which I am not prepared...

I opened up the tub, and there was a large tub of the creme bleach, the accelerator powder, a spatula, a little mixing board, and some instructions. So good so far. There was all the usual stuff about performing a test on your skin- and maybe I was a little (okay a LOT) stupid not to do this, as I have extremley sensitive skin. Bleaching the upper lip and... other areas!

...I have been using the sensitive formula Jolen cream bleach to lighten dark hair on my upper lip and 'snail trail' (belly area) for at least six months; so far I have been very pleased with my experiences. It's very embarrassing to have to do such a thing, however I think it's worth it. For the past month or so I have also been using it as a gentler way to bleach my 'down there' hair - which has been surprisingly successful! Jolen Bleach great at lightening hair

Advantages: Lightens excess dark hair perfectly
Disadvantages: Can make the skin slightly red at first

...I have always had dark upper lip hair and was looking for a product for years which would make it less noticeable. I didn't want to shave or wax the hair because i was worried about it growing back thicker and stubbly. After weeks of looking for something, i came accross Jolen. After reading the box, i new this is what i needed, so i immediatley bought it and went home to try it. Bleach!

Advantages: Cheaper than the household name brands

...I only bought this particular one because it is currently available with 66% extra free (subject to availabilty). This means that you get 1250ml for the same price as 750ml - 58p. I thought that for the price it was worth giving it a try. It is possible to buy bleach for less than this but in my experience they are usually very thin and aren't as effective in heavy duty areas such as toilets and drains. Kwik Save bleach appears to come in 3 'fragrances' - if that's the correct terminology! - original, citrus and alpine. This review is specifically about the alpine one. It is in a vivid green bottle with a red, green and white label on the front. At this point in time it is easy to find in the promotional areas at the end of an aisle within the store.
