Maybe of all three and maybe just in that order. He starred in more than sixty films, published seven volumes of his autobiography and six novels and a collection of his journalism. About his paintings I can´t say much, I only know that he made the cover illustrations of his novels himself. In the novel ´Jericho´, William Caldicott, an English writer, ´I write the kind of books that people leave behind on airplanes´, gets a parcel from his brother James with a key and a letter, telling him that he can have his house in France in which he lived for some years as a painter, as he no longer needs it. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Dirk Gently so good it hurts

Advantages: Douglas Adams wrote it, very clever plot, satisfying coming together of diverse oddness
Disadvantages: it is a finite experiance, as are all books, shame really,

...This book will ring a bell with any Doctor Who fans, its based in part on the City of Death script(also by Adams), but don't let this put you off, its much more than this, it is a groovy, off the wall, quirky and marvellous book that will change your life, no, really it will. It is THE most obtuse star to a book you may ever read, the first several chapters are all apparently unconnected threads that all spin togerther with the sort of clever wit that astonishes you so much you find yourself turning back the pages to see if it ties in with what happened earlier - and it does, maybe the book was written backwards? The main character Dirk is a role model for all oddball misfits with attitude out there, he uses holisitic (apparently unconnected acts all have some significance, chaos theory that sort of thing) methods and dextrous...

Dirk Diggler's downfall

Advantages: Good story, good cast

...?Wonderland? is based on the true story of John Holmes, and the events that took place on Wonderland Avenue, in Hollywood in the early 1980?s. Holmes (played by Val Kilmer) was a porn star ? one of the first really successful porn stars, in fact. The career of Dirk Diggler, played by Mark Wahlberg in Boogie Nights was heavily based on Holmes? career. For anyone who has seen Boogie Nights, you?ll remember that the size of his tackle is a big (?scuse the pun!) theme. Dirk Gently Strikes Again

Advantages: An excellent, well wriiten sequel
Disadvantages: The last ever fully finished Dirk Gently Novel

...Douglas Adams has always written fine works of fiction in my opinion. This book is no exception. The Dirk Gently novels seem to take a swing in the other direction from the Hitch Hiker series; the Hitch Hiker series has always concentrated on making science fiction a lighter funnier subject, whereas the Dirk Gently novels have tried to do the same thing but looking at the real world rather than something imaginery. This time round we concentrate on Dirk's adventures rather than those of Richards (He was in the previous book). Richard has inadvertently disappeared with no real explanation, and Dirk is left on his own. Dirk is already in a bad mood when he wakes up hungover and remembers that he was supposed to be visiting a potential client nearly 6 hours ago. He arrives a little later than he would have prefered at the client...

...My recent quest for FREE DVD hire I visited and many DVD web sites that offered a free trial. Now call me tight (no that wasn?t an invite), but I like bargains and freebies and am not ashamed to say so. My quest took me to enough sites to hire DVDs for about four months so far (with plenty to come too). My latest free DVD site also happens to be the best I have tried for several reasons (see rest of op); the site in question is Blockbuster.co.uk. Other sites that I have had free rentals from and then cancelled have all been similar, two weeks free trial with two DVD?s per time ? which in effect gives you about four free DVD?s. Stranger than science fiction

Advantages: very funny
Disadvantages: bitty at the outset

...Imagine that you've gone to visit an old tutor at University. There's a horse in his bathroom. Then on the way home, you think you drive through your employer's ghost. On returning, you break into your girlfriend's flat to steal the messages from her answering machine, are phoned by a bloke you knew at Uni, and go home to a technically impossible sofa jammed on your staircase. Its one of those days.... Richard is not having an easy life. He's a computer programmer with a deadline, a dead boss, police on his tail, and Dirk Gently's holistic detective agency pressing its case. To complicate matters, there's an electric monk riding round on a horse randomly believing in things (for a while he believes everything is the same shade of pink, which makes moving about rather tricky.)
