...Being a mountain bike mad man I decided it was time to get a new bike. Shopping around for a bike these days gets complicated with the huge variety of bikes you can buy and for a wide price range. Me being me I like the hard tail mountain bikes. That's a bike without rear suspension. If your on recreational cycling or after some sport competition then a hard tail is a good choice for a reasonable choice. At £749 this for me is actually not a bad price bearing in mind you can get bikes for £4000 plus. CRACKING 2 - DISC DVD, GROMIT!

Advantages: This is pure comedy escapism for all the family!
Disadvantages: Absolutely none, unless you don't like laughing!

...Works to help him make a full-length film starring his beloved Wallace & Gromit. The answer from DreamWorks was a resounding 'YES!' and thus 'The Curse of the Were-Rabbit' was created. The film came out in 2005 and has only just been released on DVD. To celebrate, the manufacturers have released the film as part of a 2 disc DVD special edition. Here is what you can expect to get: DISC ONE ~~THE FILM ~~ I give this film 5 stars. Advantages: "works" with Mac and Windows
Disadvantages: Too many to list.

...To put it simply, this is a horrible bit of kit. Now, going into more detail: - The software (Discribe) is glitchy at best (running under OsX 10.4). - The drivers (should you decide not to use Discribe) refuse to work with other programs (again, under OsX). Even though the manual says that you can install the drivers and print from any application (I tried Photoshop CS3) the printer will tell you "out of discs" even though you've fed it with discs. -The hardware is terrible. >Build quality is very low (bits will come unglued, yes, it is GLUED together!) >The CD holder has some weird design whereby you need to load 5-discs flat and then the rest at some angle (no mention of this in the manual - contact their support after days of frustration to find this out) >Speed!!! Advantages: Has the light scribe facility, cheap, reliable - Great value for money
Disadvantages: Not pleasing to the eye, fairly large and bulky, loud during the burning process

...Firstly, I would like to point out that I am firmly against movie piracy and had no intention of planning a DVD copying scam, (I wouldn?t know where to start in the first place) but required a re-writable DVD drive to burn home movies created with an HD camera given to me by my parents. Whilst many computers and laptops have such a drive, mine, unfortunately, does not. What I needed was something that did exactly what it says on the tin and just burn discs, so I was not overly bothered about; i) The looks of the drive (functionality is key here) ii) The physical size of the drive (it was going to be used at home only) iii) How much noise the drive makes during the burning process (there is a volume control on the TV); or iv) The writing speed of the drive (I can be very patient when I need to be) My wish list of features...

Hope Pro II Front Disc 20mm Hub

Advantages: Super strong and light, sealed bearings means it will work forever
Disadvantages: 20mm axle means it wont work on all forks

...Another excellent product from the Hope range. The hub is perfect for all types of riding, its light enough for xc riders and also strong enough for the downhill riders. It runs on sealed cartridge bearings that are easily changeable, instructions can be found on the Hope website. The hub body is made of cnc'd aluminum so its light and still strong. It also has the standard 6-bolt disc mount so its compatible with all brake systems. The 20mm axle means it creates a very stiff wheel and front end of the bike that will take all abuse. It comes in all the standard hope colours so you can easily match it to you colour scheme. A superb hub well worth the money, it will last forever...

Never knew Mini Disc was so good

Advantages: Tiny, sounds great, long battery life
Disadvantages: Editing track names fiddly

...I am audiophile type of person, or rather used to be. I bought all the HiFi mags, insisted on extending hours of listening to match up my carefully chosen separate system and splashing out £2000 on my final choice of HiFi because it sounded so much better... ...well I've got kids now and I have little hope of keeping those speakers carefully position for maximum quality or keeping seismic vibrations away from the CD player and amp, but I still appreciate quality sound systems. Walkmans never did it for me, I have owned a Sony Walkman cassette player and a Goodmans portable CD player in the past but they were just convenient and never gave that spine tingling edge to the music that a decent separates system could. I'd even dismissed Minidisk as something of a fad that was soon to be forgotten and superseded by the next generation of CD...

MiniDisc with a difference

Advantages: Pocket sized, sound quality, free case, disc capacity, price
Disadvantages: Poor software, no digital transfer to PC, supplied headphones

...This very portable (easily fits in even the smallest of pockets) MiniDisc player from Sony is in their NetMD range meaning that songs can be transferred quickly and directly from a computer running Windows using the supplied USB cable rather than having to transfer the tracks in realtime using an analog connection to the sound card (although this player can make analog recordings too through its optical/analogue "line in" socket - however only the optical cable is supplied). Songs can also be compressed on the MiniDisc both when transferred from a computer and when recorded normally using the MDLP technology which uses Atrac3 compression. There are two compression settings available, the higher quality setting allows 160 minutes of music per disc and to me sounds as good as a non-compressed MiniDisc and the lower quality setting...
