Advantages: Great savings and reasonable cost to buy - check out the offers
Disadvantages: Don't do one for just adults.

...I bought my first ever railcard this year - I am a devoted driver and the cost of fuel versus the cost of going by train has never really compared whether there was one of you in the car or four. i personally never felt that I didn't use the train enough to re-coup the cost of the railcard - how wrong!. I bought my card via a link on money saving expert for £18 as opposed to £24, there have been promotions since giving you 3 months free and then buy for £12 for the year. The card enables up to 4 adults and 4 children to travel on one railcard, but to get the discounts you must have at least one child travelling with the party. The card then gives a third off all adult fares and 60% off all child fares even if you book in advance. This year I booked with the maximum notice for the 3 of us to be to London (2 adults and 1 child...

tesco supermarket incentives give them a go

Advantages: pays rewards quickly & offers are quite generous - competitive selection of goods
Disadvantages: none to speak of really

...obviously it is better if you live locally to a tesco store however Tesco Direct their online store offers a whole range of products and services and they accept vouchers here too for example if you purchase car insurance you will get a £40 gift voucher plus the amount of points added to your clubcard (if you have one) which if was £500 you would get 500 points or a £5 voucher which could be worth £10 in store or online at Tesco direct. So if the premium sits well with others it may be a really good deal. Importantly I have always received my discounts & clubcard vouchers very quickly including additional money off vouchers & opportunities to grab extra points. When I took out home insurance the cashback cheque came through very prompt and when they made an error with the clubcard points ie they forgot to add them they sent me a gift voucher...

Disadvantages: some of the restrictions about travelling early in the week

...If you are aged between 16-25 or a mature student, and in full time education, travel by train a lot, or make more than just one or two big trips a year it is quite simply madness not to get one of these. It is possible to save more then the £26 annual cost in one trip. For example I travel by train very regularly and a return bought on the day for the trip I make most often without railcard would be in the region of £90. When purchased with the young persons railcard it is £60. You can make much bigger savings than this, as I often do, by buying several weeks in advance, either on the internet or in person at a manned station. Advantages: Upto a third off train fares per person. Anyone can buy it. Lasts 12 months
Disadvantages: None! - But note this is limited to travel in a designated are in England.

I found the card to be most useful when I travelled long distance to other parts in the U.K as it cost quiet a lot to travel around those areas.   Designer with discounts

Advantages: Great shops - great prices
Disadvantages: not one close enough to me anymore

...is a big difference. I have had a couple of pairs of jeans for £15 each, a jumper for £10, girls trousers for £5 and a little denim shirt for my son when he was 1 1/2 for £3. This is only a fraction of the bargains this store has provided my family with. They are just as good quality but are excess stock which the company tries to get rid of quickly by giving great reductions. Of course not everything is as cheap as that but there are big discounts on everything compared to high street prices. One great thing I like about the kids trousers from Gap is that a lot of them have an inner elastic waistband which simply adjusts with the aid of a button. Great for my kids as they have all had small waists and we are always having problems getting them to fit my son without them falling down as he is running about so this solves the problem...
