Disadvantages: Poppy did whinge a LOT

...I'm forever browsing Amazon for the latest book releases to try to find something new that catches my eye, and I've been lucky lately because there has been quite an influx on new books on to the market this summer! As usual, I've been keeping my local library in business lol, and the latest one I've taken out is "The Model Wife" by an author I've not read before, Julia Llewellyn. It sounded good, and I looked forward to reading it, so here's the review. Poppy Norton is a bit of a cliché, even she admits it. She was unlucky in love until she met News Presenter, father of 3 Luke Norton. The two begin a relationship on the sly, and accidentally Poppy falls pregnant. Luke decides to leave his wife Hannah to set up home with Poppy but soon finds out life with a young model and their newborn daughter doesn't quite match up to his twenty...

Advantages: Entertaining
Disadvantages: On MTV - so if you haven't got Satellite you can't watch it

Would you want these as your sons role models?

Advantages: Funny and great cast
Disadvantages: Bad language and nudity may put some off

...I knew from the outset that i would be one of those paranoid mum's constantly worrying about my baby & wondering if he was still breathing through the night, so I invested in the Angelcare monitor with movement sensor mat. The set includes a 'baby unit', 'parent unit' & movement sensor mat. The mat is placed under baby's mattress (if like mine, the base of the cot is slatted, or you're using it in such a moses basket, then you will need to place the mat on a firm surface such as a piece of plywood under the mattress), & is so sensitive that it can detect even the lightest of breathing. The mat connects to the baby unit which then transmits to the parent unit. If no movement (yes, even light breathing counts as movement) is detected for 20 seconds, an alarm sounds on both the baby & parent units, enabling time to get to your baby...

...When sorting out my dads possessions we discovered a couple of corgi model cars one was a model of a ford model T van with Lyons tea advertising on its side. Corgi is a Northampton firm that started making colorful pressed metal toys in 1930. In 1956 the first corgi model cars appeared. These cars are now collector's pieces. The corgi Lyons tea van that I found was made around 1985. It was made as a collector's model. These cars are not really made for young children but for those aged over 14. This model van measures 9cm long by 4cm wide it is 5 cm tall. This van is I believe a true copy of a Ford model T van. The Lyons tea van is made of a blue dye cast metal. On the side of the van are the Lyons name in gold and the company address in black. The roof of the van is white the radiator trim gold the wheels gold with black...

Advantages: Kind of interesting, some parts entertaining.
Disadvantages: Not up to MTVs usual quality of programmes, already know the winner.

MTV is no longer 'music television' as the name of the channel suggests and if you do not have Sky you will probably not be as familiar with this finding. MTV are now concentrating on developing different kinds of reality programmes and 'America's most smartest model' is a television programme that was heavily advertised before it's premiere and is now on weekly. The basic idea of this television programme is that some American lovely looking model people are required to perform tests which test their intelligence. Models Behaving Badly

Advantages: Good Concept, Fun To Watch, Entertaining.
Disadvantages: A Bit Slow Sometimes

...It?s all the rage at the moment. Yes I?m talking about shows like pop stars, soap stars and now its model behaviour. Why are these shows so popular, its like this concept will never end! Basically the show is about finding five girls to move into an apartment in London. Thousands turn up for the auditions and it?s the judge?s decision to choose four girls from each city they visit. The auditions were held in Birmingham, Manchester, London and Bristol. The judges are Angus and the editor of Cosmopolitan magazine Lorraine Candy. The five girls will move into the model apartment and go out to castings. There will be one overall winner and she will get a contract with the modelling agency Premier for a whole year and also get her face on Cosmopolitan magazine. Airfix Dr Who 'Welcome to the TARDIS' 1/12 scale model.

Advantages: Looks great on display when given the time.
Disadvantages: Not for beginnners. The figures' heads, hands and feet.

...Although this model is no longer available direct from Airfix there are still a good number of kits to be found in the shops or on-line in the likes of ebay, and in my opinion is worth hunting down. As a model it will offer enough interest for an experienced model-maker and when finished looks good on display, so will be of interest to Dr Who fans as well. (By the way, it also comes with the TARDIS sound effect when you open the door! The batteries are NOT included.) The kit is well packaged and comes with paints, brushes and glue (although extra paints will be needed for the detailing). It also comes with a model Dr Who and Martha Jones. The relatively large scale means that there is a reasonable amount of fine detail on the moulding (such as surprisingly good wood-grain effect on the TARDIS), and this also means that there are few...
