Bose Sound Dock (2nd Generation)

Advantages: Incredible sound from such a small unit, good build quality
Disadvantages: Price

...I bought this unit in November this year. There are two models, the original sound dock which I think is about £199 and the second generation one (the one I bought) which was £279 from John Lewis. The second generation one is basically the same as the first except: a) it has a rechargeable battery b) it has a swing out dock c) it has an auxiliary (3.5mm) jack input If you just want a basic model, then go for the first gen one. I got the second gen one because I thought the battery was a useful addition as is the auxiliary 3.5mm input - I have mine connected to an apple airport express that streams itunes from my laptop to my bedroom although I have used it in a friends house with my ipod too. The sound quality is good for its size which is about the same as a hardback book and it weighs in at about 1 kilo. You can take...

Advantages: Superb Sound, Very Loud, Ideal for Ipods
Disadvantages: not go to travel with, Extremely Expensive

...Bose SoundDock Digital Music System I happened to get this as a gift and it turned out to be quiet interesting Summary: This dock is used mainly for ipod and allows you to connet mp3 players to it and listen to high quality music via speakers. It is idle for homes and small gatherings, although I would not run a party off these. Pros: This system has terrific sound and can go very load despite its relative small size. As with almost all Bose speakers the quality is amazing, so long as the source you are playing it from is high quality it will allow the speakers to each its potential. I have a surround sound Bose set up in one of my rooms but now prefer to use this product as it is very simple to operate. Just plug the mp3 player in and press play and your set. Can't get much simpler. It also runs off a wall...

Can't say enough good things about the Bose SoundDock

Advantages: size, ease of use, sound quality
Disadvantages: can't connect to a computer, price

...figure out what they do. It also charges your iPod while it's docked, so there's no worry about it running out of battery while using the SoundDock. I think the best thing I could say about this, is that two people, after having listened to my SoundDock have literally rushed out and bought their own. I've had this almost a year now and my overall conclusion is this...it's small, it's pretty and it sounds bloody brilliant....

What's up Dock?

Advantages: recharges your camera whilst providing easy download

Universal Dock

Advantages: Line out, s-video out, charge, sync, stand, remote control.
Disadvantages: Expensive for what it is.

...First of all, i purchased this when buying my 30GB black, a couple of things made me like this docking station, i prefer plugging it into my surround sound system so i this is why i went for it has a 3.5mm line out. Then, i could watch my music videos, using the 'S-VIDEO' out on the back of the dock. And i can charge/sync my ipod using the apple socket at the back. Only problem i found was, if you want to control your ipod remotely you have to purchase the apple remote. Which is another £20 in the shops, what i would reccommend which is what i did, was purchase a apple remote of ebay, obviously you might not be as lucky as me, but i managed to get one for £11 inc delivery off there. Also a good stand for it to sit there and look pretty :) and it comes with all the adapters to fit all ipods....

Ipod Universal Dock, Dock Em In!

Advantages: Universal for all ipods, Compatible with remote, Has Lots Of Connections
Disadvantages: Need to purchase wires and remote separately

...I bought this dock about 4 months ago and I have been using it on a daily basis every since, I got this dock so that I could play my music through speakers (without unplugging headphones) and use the remote so I don?t have to move to change the song and FF,RW etc (lazy). I have been using this dock for around 4 months on a daily basis and I think that the dock is wicked, I have had no problems with the dock and it has made my music listening much more enjoyable because I can use the remote to control the Ipod (Remote Purchased Separately). And I don?t have to remove the headphones to use the speakers as the dock has a 3.5 audio jack built in, and I can use the dock for data transfer with my pc as well as charging through the mains (cables have to be bought separately too). And scene as though I have the video Ipod I can use the docks...

Nano docks can now be found inexpensively

Advantages: Good industrial design, holds nano neatly, can be found inexpensively

...The Apple Nano dock is a very simple device that allows the user to plug their iPod nano (1st generation only) into the computer/charger and hold the Nano upright by pushing it into a docking cradle. The dock does not come with any cables and if a charger is required it must be purchased separately. The dock also has a 3.5" minijack which is useful if the user wants to plug the Nano into speakers or a stereo in a convenient and attractive manor. Unlike the larger iPod dock, the Nano dock has no infra red port, so you can not remotely control the functions of the Nano while it is in the dock. ...In my opinion, a docking station is a must if you own a laptop that resides on your desk for a big proportion of its working life. Hence my title, the umbilical of life. With both my current and old HP laptop, i have owned a matching docking station and the only critisism would be the fact that the older docking station is not compatible with the newer laptop even though there is only a matter of a year or so between. After all they are the same manufacturer! With that aside, the rest of this review is nothing but praise for my docking station! Looks. Matches the laptop superbly in colour as both are finished in the graphite black /grey plastic.
