Doctor Who: Series Three - Powerful, Moving, Tense, Brilliant!

Advantages: David Tennant. Martha Agyeman. Mostly great storylines. Excellent value.
Disadvantages: One or two feebler moments.

..., coinciding with one actor leaving the series and another joining. As far as I?m concerned, Patrick Troughton (1966-1970) and Jon Pertwee (1970-1974) are interchangeably the ?real? Doctor. I was not impressed with Tom Baker who joined in 1974, and with the onset of increased workloads at school, gave up watching the series. I gather it continued until the end of the 1980s, but I had lost interest. Then...

Doctor Who Series Six demands attention

Advantages: A strong set of stories, Matt Smith
Disadvantages: There's a better complete box set out now

...?Let?s stop acting as though we?re this little cult show. Doctor Who is mainstream now.? Showrunner Steven Moffat embarked on his second season with huge confidence. Matt Smith had convincingly established himself as the Doctor, ratings were strong and in the USA the show?s profile had never been higher. Doctor Who Series 7 races from Dalek Asylum to New York

Advantages: Glossy production, excellent stories
Disadvantages: none

...In creative bit of marketing, the BBC have tried to compensate for the fact that we only got five new episodes of Doctor Who in 2012 by claiming that we were really getting five mini-movies! This included movie style publicity artwork and different logos for each story. I admire the chutzpah but since its return in 2005, the makers have always tried to give each episode a blockbuster sheen...
