Valiant Prints of Xerox
Advantages: Compact, Economical, Simple to set up and use
Disadvantages: Around £30 to replace all the ink.
...My Xerox Docuprint XJ6C was acquired a few months ago. Previously it had been plugged into my girlfriends PC but had been rarely used so we decided it’d be better used connected up to my machine.
I am unsure if this model of Docuprint is still available to buy, I suspect not as this printer is 2 years old now, and was bundled free with a PC offer.
For more Information visit www.xerox.co.uk which is an excellent resource, especially for the latest drivers.
The printer was simple to set up on my computer and involved plugging the standard printer cable from printer to PC, and power lead. We couldn’t locate the original disk with the driver on, but as I now have Windows Me I thought it would be best to get the latest driver from Xerox. The latest driver was installed without problem and ran straight from an EXE file...

Xerox Docuprint C8, Dont Bother
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: quality, ink usage, speed, paper feed
...I am self employed and was looking for a cheap printer to undertake basic tasks such as printing invoices. I loooked at all the options available and decided to go for the Docuprint C8. Xerox are a good company and i thought that it would be a respectable product. How wrong could i be!!
Quite simply, this is by far the worst printer i have ever come across. The print quality is awful, the ink never seems to dry, i could write the print quicker and it goes through cartridges like there is no tomorrow. On top of that, the paper feed is terrible. Most times it feeds more than 1 sheet through and more often than not you get a paper jam.
Installation was ok and is connected via the parallel port. I prefer USB connection myself for easier installation and more speed.
I have decided to get rid of it and will be buying an Epson printer...

Xerox M750 built like a tank
Advantages: Cheap running costs, separate ink tanks, fairly fast.
Disadvantages: A cheap and easily broken paper out tray, some small errors from time to time.
...Xerox DocuPrint M750
After buying myself a cheap digital camera, the dinky Digital Dream Co. L?espion I needed a printer capable of transferring my pictures from my computer onto paper, better than my aging Hewlett Packard Deskjet 400 was capable of. I was very tempted by some of the cheap but fairly well reviewed Lexmark printers. One shop were able to sell them at an amazing £30, with a specification similar to some of the well known brands. I was very tempted, until I looked into the running costs of such a machine. The original Lexmark cartridges were £25.99 for a black cartridge and £27.99 for a colour cartridge. This to me seemed ridiculous, as you could buy another printer for nearly the same money!
I then trusted the reliability of Hewlett Packard, as my Deskjet 400 had served me well without any problems at all...

My First Xerox.
Advantages: Separate colour reservoirs, good instructions
Disadvantages: No cables
...The Xerox m760 came with my new pc and I expected it to be tacky, cheap, and cheerful but basically not very good. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is an excellent piece of printing machinery. Easy to setup and install, easy to use. As usual there were no cables, these have to be bought separately, but the machine can be connected to either a printer port on your pc or by USB. Drivers were already available through Windows XP so I didn't need the drivers disk supplied with the machine. This might not be the case with earlier versions of Windows so just follow the on screen instructions.
This also applies to installing print cartridges. The cd contains on screen instructions which are very easy to follow, simple and clear. A child could do it. The instruction book is easy to follow and well laid out, exactly what you would...

Microsoft, Xerox please be friends.
Advantages: Separate colour cartridges, Fast, Express Option.
Disadvantages: Incompatible Windows XP Driver.
...I purchased the Xerox M750 about in April 2002 and at the time had a personal computer running windows ME. The reason for the buy was the price (at the time £45) and the fact that it had a 1200x1200 best photo resolution.
Under Windows ME I was incredibly happy with the printer the driver that comes with the printer has a preferences and status monitor that not only gives you complete control of everything from colour and contrast to page layout but also shows you the level of ink in each of the cartridges (an incredibly useful feature) which is also incredibly accurate unlike previous printers which I have used this one doesn't seem to rely on a timer for cartridge usage but actually knows how much ink is in each.
I soon after upgraded my computer to windows XP and after hearing lots of scare stories about driver incompatibility...

Docuprint or not to print
Advantages: cheap with seperate tanks which should save money
Disadvantages: noisy and not very good
...I decided to try the docuprint C8 when freecolourpinters.com were offering them for £40. I wish I hadn't bothered.
The idea is great - four seperate colour tanks so you are not wasting ink but as they are around £10 each you don't see any saving. Don't touch the compatible ones, they are so thin and you end up with a soggy mess.
The printing quality is ok but i had a lot of problems with paper jamming or not feeding through properly.
It is also very noisy. It does a print head maintenance thing daily but this can be any time and has often woken me up. You cannot have a conversation while it is working.
We have now replaced it with an Epson 870 and relegated it to the boys' room but even they don't use it and would rather save their work onto disk and print on the epson.
Freecolourprinters are noe doing a small Epson bu I e...

Freebie Printer Docuprint C8
Advantages: Very cheap, good prints, good photo resolution, free collection warranty
Disadvantages: Ink doesn't dry as quick as Cannon inks, single feed on envelopes, tricky on card feeding,
...I have had several dot matrix and ink jet printers and also have a laser printer/photocopier so have experienced a wide range and would like to express my opinion of the Xerox C8 being given away FREE. At first I was unsure what I would get and didn't know whether I would be committed to buying the inks from the company concerned but I needn't have worried as there was no commitment after paying for the initial inks at normal prices. I find the C8 to be a very good printer with excellent photo capabilities at 1200 or so dpi. The case is sturdy and the out feed isn't frontal so you don't need much desk room. There are a few things that I don't like however(and this has applied also to some of my previous printers). One, is the fact that I cannot feed more than one envelope through at a time, which is very labour intensive and frustrating...

Not bad for 30 quid
Advantages: Cheap, does its job
Disadvantages: Hardly spectacular, expensive to run
...A few weeks ago, my Epson Stylus 600, which I'd trusted faithfully and endearingly for over two years, suddenly died a drastic and painful death. I don't wuite know what happened, but I realised that buying a new printer wuld be a far better long-term idead than paying loads to get it fixed.
Being a student, however, my budget was very, very limited, so it was a case of waiting for the first special offer I spotted. Sure enough, PC World announced the Xerox Docuprint C8 at £29.99 for a limited period only. In desperation, I snapped one up.
Starthing the thing was a bloody disaster, as the program refused to install. Once it began working properly it actually proved - touch wood - a bargain, in fact priniting faster than my former Epson model.
The design is hardly chic - the printed paper actually comes back up from the same...

Xerox 8265 eco-solvent large format printer
Advantages: Good service & support, great print quality
Disadvantages: Too many mechanical problems - not reliable
...We are a studio based in Montreal, Canada. This is the 1 place I found where I can post a review on this printer.
As rated, this product has poorly designed and hence I would never recommend a xerox large format printer after having been acquainted with 2 of them. Professionals are much better off with HP that are superior and quite more reliable.
Here are the flaws I have to point out:
- Mechanics that renders the daily use annoying: rear load of media requires a lot more working area
- type of rear load not precise since printing a 10 foot ot more banner can get skewed at the end if media is not loaded completely straght into printer. Hence a non print margin of .5 inches can narrow down to nothing from start to end of print
- "on" & "off" button is ridiculously positioned next to other function buttons on main interface...
