Halti dog collar - not the best.

Advantages: Does help with some dog pulling
Disadvantages: Rubs and is uncomfortable to the dog. Does not work well.

...Not a good product. My dog pulls on the lead so I tried a Halti. Having tried it I cannot say that I am impressed. It looks as though it is uncomfortable for my dog and it rubs across her mussel, leaving a line in her fur. (Though in the time I was using it it did not harm her skin as far as I am aware.) It doest work the wonders I was led to believe it would. It only controls pulling to a certain, rather small, extent. If some sort of controlling device must be used then I would reccomend a 'Canny Collar'. These fit much better and do not rub. They help to stop pulling by pulling the dogs head to the side when the dog pulls, rather than pulling the dogs head down like a Halti. I have also tried these and the results were much better than with the Halti. However, I would say that correct training is much better for the dog...

For The Perfect Well Trained Dog..........

Advantages: Great in every sense on the word.
Disadvantages: If you buy the wrong size, it can cause dis-comfort for the dog.

...I have decided to write this review as I feel that most people have not given the dog training device, the halti head collar a fair chance. I feel that this is the best training devise that is designed for dogs that tend to pull excessively, and tend to be very uncontrollable during routine walks. MY PROBLEM When we first introduced Amber, our old English sheep dog to the family she was just a cute bundle of fluff, but this little bundle of fluff some because a huge yeti beast LOL. The solution to dog walking nightmares!

Advantages: great value for money, works brilliantly, easy to put on, secure

Then one day we were watching some dog training program on television and saw the dramatic effect that one had on a dog similar to Bonnie. So the next day I went to Pets at Home and parted with £8 in exchange for a Halti link. The Halti is essentially a harness and you will still need to use their ordinary lead with it. They come in five different sizes for different breeds/sizes of dogs and we purchased the medium sized one for Bonnie as although she is a large dog, she has a small face! The Halti is black (although other colours are available) and made from the same material as many dog collars...

At £4 it seemed a sensible price to pay if Gazza wasn?t going to stay with us for long. For days we tramped the village looking to see if he recognised anywhere as home. We asked the vet if he recognised him and grilled the local window cleaners. No joy. He?d not been used to a collar, that was obvious, but it sat easily on his quite long fur. He recognised a choke chain with some excitement but I won?t use them on our dogs as they can cause neck problems. ...Having numerous dogs since I was a nipper and a breeder of Great Danes, I have had one or two wilful Canine freinds who have needed just a little bit more than a bog standard collar to keep him/her in control. Halti dog collar priced around £8

Advantages: This product works instantly (most of the time!!)
Disadvantages: Your dog will hit the deck and do death rolls just to get it off!

...I have a collie lassie who is 18 mths now. She is brill at everything, except walking to heel!! After an hour of browsing my local "pets at home" for a miracle cure, i came across the halti. As i pickedt his product up, a man with his german shepherd assured me it would be money well spent! So there i was halti in one hand and money in the other! This worked instantly for me!!! As soon as i got out of the shop, i placed the halti on my Jodie and away we went, the most pleasurable walk ive ever had with her (that was 16mths ago and ive never looked back!) Priced at around £8, its worth buying if you have a problem with pulling, snappy or growly dogs or just a mutt who likes to chase cats and take you along for the ride!! Well just when I think we have tried everything, last week other half buys a 'Bob Martin Flea and Tick collar' Which promises 5 yes FIVE months protection on the front of the pack....This added another £2.99 to the total cost of this campaign so far. Well I tried to be optimistic but must say I wasn't convinced. Back of the packet is crammed full of instructions warnings and suchlike. I am promised AGAIN five months protection from fleas and ticks again . Suitable for dogs over 12 weeks (3 months) so...

Disadvantages: The dog must become accustomed, before it is used.

...Different trainers use different methods to train and control dogs. Some use choke-collars, or those metal collars with 2 rings, one on either end. If the collar is not inserted or released properly, you could hurt or kill the dog. Others prefer to use a regular collar on a six-foot leash where the dog is sort of forced to follow you. This is more humane and effective, but takes longer. This isn't just about training, it's about keeping your dog under control at all times. Regular collars are sometimes useless at controlling a dog, and the owner must rely on his own body stregnth. A lesson that was taught at my dog obedience school is that you don't let a dog lead. If he's pulling you, he's the one leading. This could of course be made into an endless argument, but how many of us at some point, haven't had to use all our stregnth...

...~~**~~* Halti Dog Collars *~~**~~ Doughnut is a Labrador. For those of you aren't aware of them, labs are twits. Especially 11 month old chocolate ones. And it is for this simple reason that I found myself resorting to the wonderful invention of the Halti. I've been putting it off for ages whilst we've struggled to maintain dignity during lead walking but the time came when I had to concede defeat. It's not that she's a particularly naughty little pickle - she's brilliant off-lead; returns to call, heels when told, retrieves fairly well (occasionally I get a dead bird instead of the ball returned to my feet but who could resist the smell of a putrid animal?) - however, lead work is a different story. It seemed that everything was exciting and I had to be dragged to see it whether it was cow poo, a leaf or a speck of dust...
