...Hasbro Play-Doh......
My son has just turned 16 months old and I have recently been taking him to my local leisure centres crèche where the staff informed me that he likes nothing more than playing with Play-Doh. Before this time I had naturally assumed he would try and eat the stuff but they assured me this was not the case.
Upon hearing that Play-Doh was Jack's favourite thing to do at the crèche I popped straight down to my local Woolworth's to pick up a tub or two. I assumed the age range on the Play-Doh was 3+ but surprisingly on the single tubs, it states 2+. This age range is not that far away from Jack's actual age, which reassured me more that he would get lots of fun from playing with it.
Play-Doh is sold in a variety of different colours and buying a single tub will only set you back a mere 79 pence (from...

Review of Play-Doh Play-Doh
Advantages: Great modelling medium for children Disadvantages: HARD TO REMOVE FROM CARPET
...Playdoh by Hasbro is a fantastic modelling compound for children aged over 3 .
It has been available for many years now. New colours and sets have been introduced.
I notice sets of 4 tubs of original Playdoh is available.
Playdoh is non toxic However, Hasbro warns those allergic to wheat gluten or specific food dyes may have an allergic reaction to this product.
These 4 tubs are presented together in a brightly coloured cardboard sheath are small ones each containing 6 oz of dough.. You will find the colours of the dough vary from pack to pack one may have red, blue, yellow and white another red, orange blue and green another pack purple yellow green and red. Each tub has a coloured lid which corresponds to the colour of the doh inside. On the base of each tub, Play-Doh Tub Original features a shape maker and animal print...

...~~ Background ~~
After finishing the bulk of my Christmas shopping, I was after a few small gifts for my children as stocking fillers. I didn't want to spend a fortune on something, so I didn't know quite what to buy. I had brought a few small cars to go in Gareth's stocking, some sweets and chocolate, but was on the lookout for something else.
I popped into 'Toy 'R Us' in Cardiff for some inspiration. I spent a while wandering around the aisles, and then I discovered the ideal stocking filler - Play Doh - or to be more precise, a small tub of Play Doh. This small tub was an absolute bargain at £1.49.
I had already bought some of the normal sized tubs of 'Soft Stuff' from the Early Learning Centre, so I thought that this small one would be ideal.
~~ The Packaging ~~
The Play Doh itself comes in a small yellow...

Review of Play-Doh Play-Doh
Advantages: Keep the kids occupied Disadvantages: None
...I used to love playing with play-doh as a kid. I had a barbers shop with figurines that you filled with play-doh, sat on the barbers chair, pressed the button and watched their hair grow (play-doh was shoved through the little holes in their heads). It came with modelling tools so you could create different hair styles and plastic scissors too!
So I was thrilled when my god-daughter wanted me to play 'play-doh' with her.
As the name suggests the pots of play-doh are filled with brightly coloured play-doh and I can only assume the reason they call it a mountain of colour is because they are stacked in the shape of a triangle in the box. So if you are expecting a mountain cast then you will be disappointed!
We had so much fun making butterflies and cars from the cutters and moulds.
It was very easy to pack/clean away too and won...
Advantages: Lots of other sets to add to it. Wheeled trolly bag. Disadvantages: Once colours are mixed they're a nightmare to seperate.
...Play doh is one of those classic childrens toys that most people have memory of, most children that have played with it have tried tasting it at least once! It is now available in a wide variety of colours having moved on from the very basic red, blue, yellow and green that was available when i was a child. The set i am reviewing here is a travel themed set my son recieved for christmas this year.
First a little about Play Doh-
Play-Doh was invented by Noah McVicker and Joseph McVicker in 1956 and awarded U.S. Patent 3,167,440 in 1965. One of many common products invented by accident, it was meant as a wallpaper cleaner. It was marketed by toy manufacturer Rainbow Crafts, and first sold at the Woodward & Lothrop department store in Washington, D.C.
Play-Doh, is a commercial modeling compound, like a salt dough which is similar in...

Review of Play-Doh Play-Doh
Advantages: Creative, versatile, endless fun Disadvantages: Can be a bit messy, dries out quickly
...I'm a big fan of Play-Doh. I love the squidgy texture, all the different colours, and even the smell! I could hardly wait for my little boy to turn two so I could buy him (and myself!) some Play-Doh along with all the accessories and tools and start playing!
In case you have never handled Play-Doh before, let me give you a short description. It is a soft modelling compound resembling bread dough that comes in all kinds of colours. It is much softer than modelling clay or plasticine and easier to mould or shape, making it suitable for younger children. The recommended age is 2+, though some of the play sets contaning small parts may not be suitable for under 3's. The Early Learning Centre has their own brand of play dough called Soft Stuff, which is equally as good as the original Play-Doh (if not better!) in my opinion...

Review of Play-Doh Play-Doh
...The Simpsons - Classics - On Your Marks, Get Set, D'Oh is a compilation of four episode episodes from "The Simpsons", all with some sort of sporting theme. The four episodes included are "Faith Off", "The Homer They Fall", "Lisa On Ice" and "Dancin' Homer".
In "Faith Off", Bart becomes a faith healer after he gets a bucket off Homer's head that got stuck there. Meanwhile, Homer's Springfield University gets ready for their football game against their rivals, Springfield A&M. The Homer sub-story is better than the Bart storyline, which is not very eventful. An average episode really, which is still better than most of what's on TV.
In "The Homer They Fall", Homer becomes a professional boxer after he gets pummeled at Moe's, who realises that he doesn't get knocked down. Homer goes all the way to a championship match in a huge...
Advantages: An unusual set thats cheap! Disadvantages: None!!!
...The product I will now review is the "play-doh, make and play stage show".
This is an unusual set purchased by my daughter from Asda's half price toy sale, which is currently running.
The set comprises of a "stage", which is a purple open sided dome, designed to look like a stage which holds a neon blue light at the top, which is said to bring out the luminous colours in the play-doh.
The neon light is controlled by a button under the play-doh sign, which is housed dead centre of the stage.
The stage is powered by three AAA batteries which are included in the set.
Inside the stage there is a smaller Perspex's dome, with a base very similar looking to a sea bed, rocks, seaweed and all!
Also attached to the inside part of the base is a small "stump", rounded at the top, this is to be used to push the play-doh through a small...
...I bought this for my little boy a few weeks ago from ToysRUs for 5.99 for a pack of 6 tubs.
Its actually a really good material to play with and allows your child to make loads of interesting shapes. Each tub contained different colours however these are mixed together very quickly to create a mishmash of PlayDoh colour. PlayDoh does have a very synthetic smell which personally i don't like. However there are some good qualities like if its lying out in the open for a while, it doesn't dry out and maintains that wet feel about it. The containers are very attractive and colourful and the plastic resealble lid sets it apart from plasticine in my mind. The kids love it but to be honest, dont expect too may hours of fun from this, my kids moved on very quickly to something else. Its worth trying though. Environmentally, the tub is...

Review of Play-Doh Play-Doh
Advantages: Simple for younger children Disadvantages: Difficult to clean some of the tools that comes with it
...I bought this play -doh set for my son for his second birthday. The box actually says for 3 years plus, but I have found no toys that would keep my 2 year amused that are designed for his age group. So plumped for buying him the doggy doctor as it looked a lot simpler than some of the other play -doh sets.
So what do you get in the set?
You get 4 tubs of play doh (pink , white, green and yellow). The set I bought was on speacial offer and came with another 4 tubs attched so 8 in total.
Also in the set you get a syringe for squirting the play-doh into the moulds, a set of tweezers, a mould of a plaster and then the dog itself that has several mouls on it.
The head of the dog is detachable, you place the play-doh in and replace onto the body as you push the head on to the body in squeezes the play-doh out through the dogs mouth...
